man, how many times does it need to be said? you're not *supposed* to. annual models arent designed to entice you to ditch your existing handset; they just annual updates. do you update your MacBook every year? your how audio receiver? same thing.
the people reading this site are *not* apple's core customers. most people dont care about cores or memory. they are just buying the *latest* iphone iteration.
thats how it works.
What about those of us on 3GS contracts? This upgrade is meaningless to us -- it doesn't add new features to iOS (which fully supports 3GS already), it doesn't give access to new apps (99.9% of the app store is 3GS compat.), it retains the same crap build materials (glass, enough with it already).
This my "two year upgrade" phone, and I can't identify a single reason to upgrade. I'd be spending $200 to buy a phone that's more fragile than my 3GS, has no new features, runs the same iOS I can run on my 3GS, and locks me into a 2 year service agreement that will hamper my ability to get a phone when/if Apple decides to actually add something.
Total fail if this is true.
