no reminder email

I placed my pre-order through Apple website on 15th and got an email shortly afterward saying I can pick up on 24th in my local Apple store (houston). I called the store ten minutes ago and they could not even find my name in the list (I gave them name, email and phone number for search). That is suck !

Like anyone would actually "forget" to pick up there iphone 4 :D

Ha! My thoughts exactly. But I guess it serves as a confirmation not just a reminder.;)

Any ideas if there will be cases for sale on Thurs? Maybe something cool from incase, not just the apple bumper?

Here is the thing. I think people are getting mixed up on Business Accounts and a FAN discount on a personal account. A business account is one in which a business pays the bill. The FAN number is something that can be added to a personal account that gives you a monthly discount on the plan. If you have a FAN, there should not be any problem with this. I had one last year and was able to upgrade to my 3GS through Apple without any issue.

I need some clarification on this.

I have a corporate discount FAN added to my account. I am scheduled to pick up an iPhone 4 from my local Apple store on the 24th. I will be adding a new line to my account for this iPhone 4 (The phone is for my wife).

Will it not be possible to pickup the iPhone at the Apple store on the 24th and add the new line under my account (has FAN) there?

I'm not sure, sorry. I really don't deal at all with the account part. I get the phone for free and I don't pay a dime for the phone plan, so I never ask questions. I've never heard of a FAN account tho. I'm assuming you'd be able to add a new line there but I don't know if the FAN account thing will prevent that.

Even if you aren't able to settle the account problems at the Apple store, if you call AT&T after you get the phone then it's not that hard to straighten out. When I got my 3G, my personal line wasn't available for upgrade, so they had to switch around lines so I got the upgraded line (it's a family plan) and they were only able to verify pricing at the apple store, but my boss called AT&T when I got back to the office and they straightened it out on the phone.

Anyone know of a cut-off time for reservations on the 24?

I got both e-mails, but can't make it my store until after 1pm on Thursday. Trust me, I have an iron-clad reason for that. My Apple store told me that I needed to be there by 3pm or they would cancel the reservation, which obviously is contrary to what the e-mails says. I'm not going to argue this point; just wanted to see if others are hearing the same thing.

This is my EXACT situation. I got through the select my iphone and pay, but it ended at a page stating an error has occurred and had asked me to pick up an iphone at a store of my choosing. Does not ask me for name or email address... Only info collected was the phone number, 4 digits of my SSN, and my zip code.

I called the Apple store I selected about 2 days after... I explained my situation and she plainly states that if I see the "We'll see you at the store." screen, then I have an iphone reserved... She proceeds to explain to me that I will need to get in the reserved line instead of the public line...

I'm still unsure... but here's hopes that there's one iPhone 4 32GB waiting for me.
Nearly my situation too, but a call to my local Apple store didn't find any confirmation of my reservation. They didn't say to come stand in the reserved line. I can only assume that I have to stand in the other line and pray. They did say that someone would call me before the 24th.

I'd hate to stand in the reserved line all that time, get to the clerk and then be told I have to go stand in the non-reserved line and start all over.

Then someone needs to clarify that with AT&T and the Apple Store folks, because I made it quite clear that I pay my own cell phone bill but receive a service discount through my employer and was told I needed to go through AT&T. Perhaps it depends on the size of the company. Mine is a school district that employs several thousands of people. Fortunately, I didn't take a chance and pre-ordered mine through an AT&T store.

I have a FAN discount as well. My college offered one to us.

Just to double check, I've called them twice now and AT&T has assured me that there would be no issues upgrading to iPhone 4.

I also now remember that I had absolutely no issues upgrading to 3GS last summer. :)

I have a FAN associated with my account and I remember when the 3G came out I literally had to call while I was at the Apple store (with the rep standing right in front of me) and remove it, so that I could buy the iphone... then I added it back on later...
However on this go-round... I had no problem ordering from Apple's website (mine is shipped) with a FAN on my acct, and I have heard from other legitimate sources that it's not really a problem anymore. Although, I'd hate to tell you all this and then see ya get screwed. If all else fails, you can do what I did a couple years ago and just remove the FAN at the Apple store and put it back on later??

sad i couldn't get through on the 15 so i waited to the 16th and could get through either so i had to do it on the 17th and now i wont get mine till mid-july :(. sad day.

Well that makes me feel somewhat better, because I still have the 3G, and that's the one I had problems with, with the FAN discount. They must have gotten things straightened out by the time the 3GS came out, and hopefully it won't be a problem this time. Thanks for the info.

You may not be eligible for an upgrade yet. Most folks aren't eligible until 18 months after the start of a new 2 year contract and that would put you in January 2011, one month outside the "generous upgrade offer."

Thanks, but what about this from ATT. According to that I would be eligible for an early upgrade?

I don't have an email either in my inbox, but the Apple Store app still has my reservation listed of it and I received the first email confirming. I hope my wasn't cancelled either....... If it was I'm going to slip.

Man that is a sign of relief after reading so many people getting their orders cancelled. Now only 3 more days til the early early morning of getting my iPhone 4!!:D

Any idea on the availability of the iPhone 4 if I didn't reserve and just plan on going to my local Apple store.....maybe next week.....and purchase there?

Agreed. I have a simple FAN Discount that provides a small discount on my minute plan (doesn't apply to data) and I think it should have no impact on people upgrading on Thursday as it obviously doesn't affect people who are pre-ordering nor did it affect my ability to make a reservation (I had to confirm account via mobile#, last 4 of ssn and billing zip before being allowed to reserve which confirms with AT&T servers before approving).

as much im a nice guy, i dont want them to transfer my stuff to the new iphone, what happeneds if they saw the iphone you have been jailbroken. . lol
