Your reservation is confirmed... maybe...

I'd be glad to take all that with me, but for some reason Apple has no record of my reservation and I never got any confirmation. They said someone would look into it (last Friday) and I should expect a call back by the 24th

I'm in the same boat. They said they'd know something tomorrow. I'm NOT holding my breath.

Since I have to be at work and have a fairly arduous commute, will I be able to go during the afternoon opposed to 7am? If you have a reservation for Thursday, is getting one Thursday guaranteed long as you get there before closing or should one be there 7am regardless?

Thanks

J:apple:n

It clearly states that you can get it anytime the store is open on Thursday. They are holding the product for you for that one day. If Friday rolls around they are going to sell it, though.

I reserved my iphone via the new app and never rec'd any kind of emails.

So after being on hold w/apple(the store I reserved with) for about 20 minutes. The rep takes down all my info and says, "We'll get back to you ASAP"

I have a FAN associated with my account and I remember when the 3G came out I literally had to call while I was at the Apple store (with the rep standing right in front of me) and remove it, so that I could buy the iphone... then I added it back on later...
However on this go-round... I had no problem ordering from Apple's website (mine is shipped) with a FAN on my acct, and I have heard from other legitimate sources that it's not really a problem anymore. Although, I'd hate to tell you all this and then see ya get screwed. If all else fails, you can do what I did a couple years ago and just remove the FAN at the Apple store and put it back on later??

This is exactly what happened to me too with the 3G iPhone. It was like 10:00pm at night and the Apple person made my call ATT. I called them and they quickly removed the FAN account and I was able to get my new 3G iPhone. Hopefully I won't have to do the same this time around.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm guessing my reservation (despite saying "We'll see you then!") never actually went through. So now I'm likely hosed and facing getting one in a month (or whatever the new reservation date is now).

i'm in the same situation. got through the entire reservation process (including logging in w/ your apple id, etc...) and got the confirmation screen, but never received either of the confirmation emails. looks like i'm s.o.l.
if i had known i was supposed to get a confirmation email right after i made the reservation, i would have kept redoing it until i got one.

I made a reservation last Tuesday through the Apple Store app when it couldn't look up my AT&T account information. I got the initial confirmation email, but no reminder email so far. So I called my local store and they have me on the list.

I'm planning on heading in to the store before 6am - main reason is I want to be at work as close to 9am as possible, and who knows how long it will take to go through the reservation line.

Is anyone else having trouble getting a consistent price quote? When I checked with AT&T last week, they said I was not eligible for an upgrade, but I could purchase the iPhone 4 for $399. Then when I pre-ordered last week, it said I would be at $199. Then I used the link in this reminder email sent out today, and it said I wold have to pay $599! No one will give me a consistent answer! Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Yup. A lot of people, but be careful, some will call you selfish and arrogant if you state you should be sold the device at the initial quoted price.

In fact, I spoke to an ex-colleague at the Apple store today when I picked up an iPad case. I mentioned the fact that Apple reserved an iPhone 4 at $199, even though AT&T had mishandled my account and reneged on their price and contract agreement. According to her and my ex-manager, whatever the price that was given through the Apple Store application, the store must honor that price, regardless of what AT&T "claims". Someone claimed I was talking out of my a$$. Thursday I'm posting a copy of my receipt. :p

Got updated notice for 1 of 2 orders

So on the 15th, I was able to order two iPhones using separate apple id's. One for my wife and one for me. I got a confirmation e-mail on the same day for both.

Today, I got an e-mail for my wife's iPhone. I know it was hers since it was for the 16 GB and I ordered the 32 GB for me. After waiting a while for the next confirmation e-mail for my iPhone and not receiving it, I decided to call the store to confirm. I was reluctant to call the store since if there was a problem with my order, I wanted to just show up with the first e-mails from the 15th and claim the iPhones. However, curiosity got the better of me, and I called the store. They have both reservations as they confirmed our names on the list. I even learned that I can pick up my wife's phone since we are on the family plan, and I am the main account holder.

The moral of the story is that if you don't get the e-mail today, that may not mean you are not getting the phone on the 24th.

Good Luck to All.

I know people on here want to go at 4/5am, but what was the point of reserving the phone last week if you feel the need to go before the crack of dawn to pick it up because you are worried the store will sell "yours"?

Yep, same as the other poster. Work at 9:00. I want to be in and out and at work slacking off/playing with my shiny new iPhone by 9. I'm really not one to mind standing in line for a bit. (Camping chair required.)

Quick question...

I have ordered an iPhone with Apple's site. I also downloaded the app store app where I reserved an iPhone for the 24th. My iPhone that I ordered through Apple.com won't arrive till the 14th of July. Can I go and get my reserved iPhone from the Apple Store on the 24th of June and then cancel my order with Apple.com>?

I got the first confirmation email but the second one. I have a bad feeling that my reservation didn't go through...

My situation is EXACTLY the same as yours. However, I friendly disagree with the moral of the story. The moral of the story is call the place you are supposed to pick them up and make sure any and all ID's you used are listed for pickup. I called my local store and had the Apple employee (I have his name) tell me what phones he had listed for me to get. He said a black 32 and a black 16 which is exactly what I reserved. Now if I get there, I have a recorded phone conversation stating I was on the list for both phones because he told me what I was getting before I told him.

so glad i got one of these today!
cant wait for thursday makes me feel better that ill get my phone on launch day. better than hoping and praying best buy gets any units in (I'm #22 there)

For those of you who are unsure if you have a reservation for pickup if you already have an iPhone , install the Apple Store app, pull up the store where your iphone is reserved and it will show you if you actually have a reservation in the system.

Yep. I called my store and he said there were so many reserved some aren't getting reminder emails or haven't been sent yet. I confirmed my name is on the list.

I got both e-mails, but can't make it my store until after 1pm on Thursday. Trust me, I have an iron-clad reason for that. My Apple store told me that I needed to be there by 3pm or they would cancel the reservation, which obviously is contrary to what the e-mails says. I'm not going to argue this point; just wanted to see if others are hearing the same thing.
Seriously? I wasn't going to pick mine up until I get off of work at like 5pm.

Well, the Apple store may hold it until the end of the day...

I called back. Apparently, the 3pm deadline applied to the iPad. The guy I spoke with told me that if the e-mail said close of business, they'll hold the phones until close of business (9pm). That said, I don't have a lot of confidence that he really knew what will happen on Thursday. To me it doesn't matter. I can't get there until mid-afternoon. If it's not there then, I'll just order one and wait.

Just some info

My .02, FWIW:

This from a couple of calls to my local store, SoHo, NYC.

Re: the "pre-authorization doesn't guarantee a phone, first come first served" fine print in the email: two different calls w/ different reps confirmed that the authorization is distinct from the reservation. The second rep indicated that, as I understand it, because of all the issues Tuesday some folks were authorized by ATT but never managed to complete their reservation, hence the disclaimer.

I would suggest those with reservations call their store and confirm them - they'll ask for your email address. Based on what I've read and what the Apple reps said I have the impression that there may be issues even if you've received both confirmation emails. Confirming directly with the store is the most certain road...

Also, one rep I spoke to stressed that I should bring a printout of the confirmation email.

Based on the feedback from my store, at least, if you confirm that your reservation is in good standing they will hold the phone until the close of business as indicated in the email...

Having said all that, I'm sure it will all go fine for everyone

Can I let someone else use my reservation?

Situation:
On the 15th... 1am PDT Apple website slow and crashing... but able to reserve one for pick up.

Later on the 15th... 2:30pm... able to pre-order and have phone shipped.

My iPhone is on it's way as we speak, but I STILL have a pickup reservation.

My cousin was unable to get a pre-order or reservation.

Can I go with him on the 24th to the Apple store, verify my reservation (via name on list, my printed emails), but allow him to buy it (on his AT&T upgrade)?

I WOULD THINK this should be ok. People do this all the time... teen has iPhone on mom or dad's family plan and needs that person (account holder) to be present to upgrade.

What do you guys think?

Should be fine. Call the store and ask.

I contacted AT&T Premier Support Services and was told I could upgrade in an Apple Store with no issue. I wanted to be sure to check before I actually went through the hassle of reserving my iPhone4.

Hope this helps!

Yah... I have a Starbucks FAN # and was never told that I could not upgrade at the Apple store on Thursday. My reservation never stated anything about it so I'm going to be there Thurs. morning... btw... I would feel very bad for whoever tells me that they can't upgrade my 3GS because I have a 3GS...lol... no really

Got mine! I was kind of scared at first when I heard that some shipments weren't going through, or that Apple had issued too many iPhone 4 reserves and was now cancelling them, but all is good! Can't wait!!! It's going to be so difficult to focus at work. I'm not brave enough to stand in line, even if i have a reserved one. there's no telling what people will do to get an iPhone 4 on that day

I sure hope this is the case, I tried to get the 3G on launch day, but was denied, because I had FAN attached to my account. Apple called ATT that day, and had them take the fan off, and had me come back in a couple of hours. After all that, I still wasn't able to get the phone when I came back. So I ended up having to go to an ATT store and lucked into someone returning a phone, while I was there, 2 days later. I sure hope that this isn't a problem, otherwise, I'll be calling to cancel the FAN, and start it back up again, after I get the phone.

I'd hope that after all these years they get their shi$ worked out. Pretty pathetic if they still can't process FAN accounts.
