I think they can to a reasonable degree. But I think it will be an awakening for Apple as they run into the same cross platform security issues that everyone else runs into.
Apple has almost 250+ billion dollars in cash lying with them..This 'entertainment' service plan will make it zero. Apples so called liberalism(everything is offensive and tight control on what you can say) and drama wont fit well...
I'm sure it's required. The current exec team loves rubbing shoulders with aging celebrities.

I don't see how Apple is going to write good drama when they can't even write good software.
Are Marvel movies for kids? Are Star Wars movies for kids? If when you think of Disney, you only think of Mickey Mouse, Toy Story and the Lion King, you need to update your knowledge.
The Disney model would work nicely for Apple. Plenty of excellent content that doesn’t have to get into brutal violence and sex scenes.

The fact that they aren’t saving the subscription news service for wwdc suggests that there’s going to be a lot to announce this june!
WWDC is about developers, so media services don’t have place there.
Services is possibly the least interesting aspect of their business. They should announce some kind of hardware, otherwise this will be a very stale event
Like you, I don't have high expectations for the Apple TV service. I am interested in seeing what they have to offer but I doubt it will be anything I will be interested in subscribing to. However, i am more optimistic about the paid news service. I seem to be encountering a growing number of paywalls for news articles I am trying to read and I don't want to subscribe to a dozen or more sources for 1 or 2 articles per month from each. I am HOPING Apple will offer a good selection of high quality news sources at a reasonable price (compared to subscribing to a bunch of different sources individually). If they do, I will be among the first to subscribe.
Heh, well it's a great desktop, but it can certainly destroy your bank account.
I'm experienced in this regard, and it wasn't even nearly as bad as it could have been.
We tried that service when it started and had a ton of problems. Random frozen streams even though our house generally gets over 150 mbps down. When we unbundled Comcast Internet from cable the internet portion shot up to like $100.00. And that is metered—go over 2 TB’s and you’re paying extra. Cable plus internet turned out to be a wash with cable plus DirecTV Now. Damn cable companies.
This is going to be very boring and bland. Ugh. I'll watch the steam, but expect nothing of interest.
This keynote is essentially one huge press statement where Apple can tell their story to the press directly.

with 'show time' being most likely a reference to their tv shows and/or changes to the iTunes store (4k shows, downloadable 4k, or whatever), a new Apple TV is the only hardware that would make sense
Yep. Just like they don’t allow “offensive” stuff in the music store, the tv app, iTunes video store, podcasts, etc.
