Will there be a season 2? Would it be safe to say that the truth may not surface this year, but that you will have to wait two years for the next season during which the truth may still not surface?

What’s the problem with AppleTV+? For mediocre Sci-Fi stories like “For All Mankind” and “Silo”, it can depicts it extremely well, but, for real masterpieces like “Foundation”, it simply ruins it into sh*t?!!!
Clearly, there are different views on Foundation. I’ve just rewatched the first season in anticipation of season two coming next month. Thoroughly enjoyed it — again! I don’t care how different it is from the books (I read them in the ‘70s, so I don’t remember much at all, to be honest). I’m enjoying the series for what it is — engaging, visually interesting, well-acted, fantasy/sci-fi.
On an unrelated note. Tehran is my current favourite AppleTV+ series. I hope it runs and runs.

I'm a scientist and I've loved everything Apple has done in sci fi, but really didn't like Foundation at all. But I'm just one person. Apple knows the real numbers, and they've shown they are willing to cancel things that aren't going well.
Sadly, they cancelled Little Voice, which I had really enjoyed. But, that’s show business, right?

Haven’t seen the show but the books were incredible. Read them years ago as they came out. One of the first if not the first sci fi series to legitimize Amazon as a first party publishing platform.

I see a lot of love for Silo here but I really lost interest as it’s nothing like the book it is based upon. Also they are stringing it out……….. ( yawn!! )
I thought the 'book' was really just a short story and that was covered only by the first episode? Everything after the first episode is not from the original story - at least this is what I heard from a friend. 🤷‍♂️

I'm afraid of where this show is gonna go and hopefully there's a good conclusion to it...right now it's so good I am itching for new episodes!

Yeah, made it up.
Yeah, still seems you did, TBH...

As a person that knows the most basic things about steam power generation I was absolutely blown away in how badly they did that in the show.

  • Turbine running without the sides installed?
  • Put a human inside the turbine?
  • Spray a super hot piece of metal with cold water and it didn't shatter?
  • Turbine designed with no bypass so it couldn't be safely shut down?
I don't remember these problems in the books but it's been a couple years sense I read them.
"If you're wondering how he eats and breathes
And other science facts,
Just repeat to yourself "It's just a show,
I should really just relax"

😜

This was a great comment on Reddit:

I work at a power plant with many steam turbines and I was texting all of my coworkers like "We did it everybody, it's our time to shine. A steam turbine blade is a plot device on a major television series!"

So you were able to selectively remember the news saying they left, but not the news they were back and twitters biggest advertiser?

Ok, but they didn’t “make it up” as you claimed. Relax, buddy, and have a grown up conversation.

Wow, on Twitter, can't think of a better site to be so generous with the world. One free episode. Oh, wait, this is just marketing to try to get people hooked into AppleTV+ subscription. Is this news, really?
PS: I am enjoying the show, it has its irritating aspects, but it is a good show. My comment is mostly about Apple giving a morsel away and Macrumors elevating this to "news".

Apple is known (or maybe now was) praised for its amazing advertising. It baffles me how poorly the advertise their shows, even on their own app. There is so much good content, for such a cheap price that no one will ever watch.

I thought the 'book' was really just a short story and that was covered only by the first episode? Everything after the first episode is not from the original story - at least this is what I heard from a friend.
It started out as a short story that then got expanded into 3 full-length novels.
The show looks like it's only going to get half way through the first novel in season 1 so get ready for a big cliffhanger.

The first episode was pretty straight, but later episodes have changed an awful lot of the detailed plot although they still seem to be heading in the same general direction.

As a person that knows the most basic things about steam power generation I was absolutely blown away in how badly they did that in the show.
Yes. that was cringeworthy - there's a "fixing the generator" scene in the book but it bears no resemblance to the show. However, there's a later bit in the book that will have anybody who knows even a smidgin about diving shouting at the page/screen.

(Edit: Spoiler tags added after the fact. Sorry - I thought they were too vague to need hiding)

Extremely disappointing to see Apple investing time and money into validating Twitter as a platform.
Twitter with almost half a billion monthly users, doesn't need Apple validation, what they're doing is advertising to half a billion potentially new customers 😊

That is contrary to what Twitter insiders have said based on a news article from earlier this month

Some of Twitter’s biggest advertisers — including Apple, Amazon and Disney — have been spending less on the platform than last year, three former and current Twitter employees said. Large specialized “banner” ads on Twitter’s trends page, which can cost $500,000 for 24 hours and are almost always bought by large brands to promote events, shows or movies, are often going unfilled, they said.

and what data from Insider Intelligence, a market research firm, shows

It was previously reported that over 500 advertisers stopped spending on Twitter earlier this year and daily revenues were 40% lower than the year before.

Major advertisers like Apple and Amazon reduced their expenditure on the platform and earlier this year, Insider Intelligence revised its forecast for Twitter’s global ad revenue in 2023, reducing it by 37% to $2.98 billion. This represents a 28% decline from Twitter’s projected ad revenue of $4.14 billion for 2022.

It seems Twitter is now determining ways to simplify buying ad space and creating automated ways to purchase ads outside of the US.

Key takeaways

  • Twitter’s US ad revenue dropped by 59% in April-May, falling short of sales projections
  • Content concerns, including hate speech and explicit material, may deter advertisers from using Twitter’s platform
  • Major advertisers, such as Apple and Amazon, reduced spending on Twitter

Who do we believe?
Certainly not the so called Twitter insiders 🤣

It's weird that you asked the question "I thought Apple basically pulled out of Twitter?" but then when someone gives you the answer, your reply is "I have better things to do with my time" when you don't like the facts.
There are certain types of people, to whom facts just don't mater 😏

I read Wool a few year ago and really enjoyed it; always wondered if/when they would come out with a TV show based on it. Very interested to see how it pans out.
