Hader's a great guy. Coincidentally, he was the 'star' of a Make a Wish Foundation wish in our town yesterday. Thank you Mr. Hader! Hats off to you!

It was as big as a fail WWDC was

You mean it was awesome? I thought that was the best WWDC for yonks (until the Music stuff started, couldn't care less about that). Throughout the OS X and iOS presentations all the little details were just "wow, they've done that just right"!

I didn't find the video very funny, but I liked the ending, with the simple stage and the line about having something incredible to say.

I thought this was probably the best Apple event, post Steve Jobs, to date.
Not sure what some of the complainers were expecting here .... but it was chock-full of good information about details of what they changed in the new OS X and iOS, and some of those changes were complete surprises to me. (Had no clue, for example, they were doing the revamp of Expose and management of full screen apps. Looks like it finally makes that part of OS X really relevant.)

I found the intro pretty funny in parts. Some of it, perhaps a little predictable or cheesy ... but overall a great opening for the show. To me, it had a bit of that same sense of humor you'd find in something like "The Muppet Show", so not for everyone, but I appreciated it.

As far as a developer conference, it's going pretty well. What makes you declare it as a "fail"?

Shayanftw is referring to the terribly boring (Sans Federighi) presentations

I wanted to gouge out my eyeballs during the Watch update

Not to mention Drunk Eddy Cue or Coked up Clueless Jimmy Iovine... WTF!!

Then bring out Drake, to introduce the Softest Mp3 Streaming System in the Game !

Sad and unforgivable

I had no idea it was an actor playing the part. I assume he's an actor. Or is he a comedian? Most of us outside the US have probably never heard of him. I certainly haven't. Oh wait, he's an "alum", whatever that is.

Anyway, i enjoyed it!

Have you never heard of Saturday Night Live?

If that's the case, then fair enough. I have no interest in what Iovine, or Cue has to say, so have missed those.

I had no idea who he was either to be honest.

Bit difficult - SNL is not shown on TV (inc Satellite/Cable) over here. A few channels tried over the years but the US's parochial humour just doesn't translate well over here. Same problem with your Letterman like shows. Channel 4 tried to copy the SNL format in the 80s for a couple of years and that tanked as well.

Unless you are condoning piracy? ;)

Back on-topic. I liked the visual jokes, it was a good open.

There's plenty of SNL on Netflix...

I saw this and loved it except for the part where they mistreated the two cats.
Shame on you Apple !
It only encourages more people to do this - no matter how little.
How would it be received if instead, heavens forfend, he held up two struggling babies and said "Black or White"

Shameful.

Yeah that seriously looked ****ed up....

Iovine was pretty crap, but you can't blame the man for being bad at public speaking, I'm sure he's a lot better than me. Trouble is he had nothing interesting to say. I mean seriously, we're supposed to get excited about a new, utterly conventional, music radio channel?

Who is this Drake? I seem to recall he seemed like a nice bloke, but I already can't remember what he talked about. Am I getting him and Iovine mixed up - they were all about Apple Music, right?

Were they real cats? That's pretty bad if so. It's not super awful, it doesn't hurt cats that much when you do that, but they certainly don't tend to like it once they're grown up (it's fine for kittens), and those were big cats, presumably that makes it worse for them.

I didn't like it at all either. In fact I found the whole presentation boring as *ell and it just seemed to drag on forever. The only thing I like was the split screen part for the iPad and a few others. The Music presentation went on WAY too L O N G !

Let's first remind ourselves that this was for developers. They theoretically look for and at different things than users.

It is not possible to come up with a game changer every 12 months or less, so all we can get are tweaks of existing stuff.

Since I am a person who works with just the basics until I need more (which I then research) the many refinements and new features in the OS X leave me cold. ,I just want everything to work and it does.
The few quirks one can work around.

BTW: Their iOS and OS X upgrades are FREE!

Being disappointed that there isn't new hardware is only due to peoples overactive entitlement behavior.

Apple wow us, and if not we hate you, you are bad news, disappointed, no innovation, lost it's touch,
Steve wouldn't, Tim Cook terrible etc.etc..

All the complainers should calm down and just think which areas in tech are not heavily covered already.

Because of even the small increments in each processor speed and memory increase we get faster this sand that or things we did not imagine before.

Apple is just one of their billions of dollars do not come from being dumb.

NOT listening to outside influences and doing what they think is right is actually very hard.

Since 1984 I have seen Apple's high, lows and failures as well as successes.
In my book nobody is perfect, but what Apple is offering is say at least 75% of what I want.
(For another 15% I don't have the money)

The little bit left are annoying little things and every time the complainers say they are leaving Apple, they usually come back.

Got lost in the thread: Some of it was funny and some not. About 30/70 or luke warm, but then we all have different funny bones.

It was as big as a fail WWDC was

If you're using WWDC in the 'past tense', you clearly don't know that WWDC is a week-long event that is STILL going on. It actually ends later today.

It's a week-long event with hundreds of hours of presentations, not just one keynote. Many, many more things were introduced and discussed (and still being discussed)

To this day, I had no idea that Wayne's World was based on something else - some kind of sitcom I presume? I just thought it was all made up for a movie. I walked out of the first one half-way through. So so bad and didn't find it funny at all - just very irritating.

Same with this opener - no laughs from me (a Brit). Although, I could appreciate it was well made and very creatively put together. It's possibly a case of lost in translation - even though the language is the same, the cultural reeferences and humour is perhaps not.
Right, the words are the same but not the same. That's why we're forced to have a profession called Localizers. Those are the guys (and gals) responsible for making sure games and applications are as universal as possible.

As an Australian, however, rooting my device is never a good thing.

Does anyone else feel that Apple is becoming a Spinal Tap-esque parody of itself? It really does believe its own hype these days (cue the laughter at Jimmy Iovine's "revolutionary" speech)...
If that gets you an ever increasing following and sales then it sounds like it's a good way to go (if someone is thinking that's where they are going).
