I think alot of people are missing the point, i thought the video was great and funny mostly, it was some slapstick fun indirectly poking fun at competitors that apple dont need bells and whistles when it comes to launching new products or for feature keynote/presenations. On the whole i thought apple did a really good job of putting the message across in places that they can be a company that doesnt take themselves too seriously.

Using comments like 'isnt that innovative' and ' this really is ground breaking', they were almost always followed by a sarcastic laugh from whoever was on stage. Apple are not the richest company in the world through being stupid, they know exactly where their competitors are at and what they release with their products, its obvious apple are company that, when they do things its got to be done perfectly! (eg fingerprint authentication)

For me, the wwdc wasnt groundbreaking or the best they have done, but maybe we all have said this because there was no new products this time round. What it did do though is show that apple are aware of the direction of the products they have, and are aware of whats around them.

Having read al the post, i find it weird that none mention the semi rap song thats being played on stage. I would love to know if that is a already existing song and if so what is its name? I want it on my iPhone!!!

What's the song at 4:08 called? I recognise the intro and its driving me mad :)

I'm afraid I didn't like this opening at all. I didn't find it funny. I wasn't entertained; just irritated. I was relieved to get to Craig Federighi's presentation. Now he was funny, entertaining and engaging to watch.

Sorry I can't be more positive.

Craig was a little awkward the last few times he was on stage in past years (great keynotes all the same). This year was so much better. I think he's getting more confident on stage.

I was almsot wondering was I the onyl one who noticed. THe thing is....you can't paordy Birdman and use regular "cuts". If they had used the same 'cutless' filming technique that Bridman did I would have been at least impressed - although it still would not have been funny.

to sum up - more of you need to go see Bridman - it is awesome

Agreed. That's what I felt they were doing at first with the fluid camera motion.

"Birdman" is awesome, but not for all tastes I have to say. I dragged a couple of friends to the movies to watch it and they were about to cut my throat when the credits rolled.

We all are supposed to think they're so cute, and cool. I'm just saying some of us are weary of their whole MO, this video included. Now call me a trol, that's fine. just posting my thoughts.

I'm with you, though. If the rumours about Apple trying to kill freemium in music streaming, they (Apple) have, definitely, turned into the old Microsoft - too large to not be evil.

The homage to Birdman was clever, but they shouldn't have copied the dreadful sound mixing of that movie.

It was impossible to hear some of the one-line throwaways. (Well, I presume they were throwaways. Couldn't really tell.)

I think anthropologists should study this thread to see the different ways that viewers from the US and the UK react to the video. US viewers tend to find the video funny, while UK viewers seem universally to have the opposite reaction. Being from the US, I loved it.

I thought it was Okay.... Just okay though... It would have been better had they released a new apple TV, streaming television service, and Netflix competitor... It would have been more fitting at least...

I didn't like it at all either. In fact I found the whole presentation boring as *ell and it just seemed to drag on forever. The only thing I like was the split screen part for the iPad and a few others. The Music presentation went on WAY too L O N G !

Yep. In all fairness, the "One More thing" was probably meant to be the new Apple TV/Home Hub/Automation thing. But since that got pulled from the running-order at the last minute, the other presenters were probably told to expand their material and fill in the empty time slot.

So they probably just added back slides they'd previously edited out. It worked for some, but I guess the Music crew didn't have much on hand?

Very few cast regulars get known outside America. Until I moved here, I thought Wayne's World (1 & 2) were standalone movies by just some guys. Blues Brothers had an awesome movie, also just some guys that made a hundred movies. We knew of Eddie Murphy because of Raw, Delerious, and BHC. Bill Murray and Chevy Chase got lucky with some movies back in the 80s.

The problem with SNL outside America is worse than Monty Python outside England. SNL is funny and topical for a very short window of time (perhaps a week or two) due to its fast-paced nature and relying on stuff happening this week for inspiration. It got lucky with people like Chris Farley who could drive a sketch by themselves, but people who can do that are very far in between. If you edit each episode to be "attainable" by an audience outside America, you'd be very surprised at how little is left.
To this day, I had no idea that Wayne's World was based on something else - some kind of sitcom I presume? I just thought it was all made up for a movie. I walked out of the first one half-way through. So so bad and didn't find it funny at all - just very irritating.

Same with this opener - no laughs from me (a Brit). Although, I could appreciate it was well made and very creatively put together. It's possibly a case of lost in translation - even though the language is the same, the cultural reeferences and humour is perhaps not.
