Are we really gonna believe this nonsense. Especially when all the recent issues of privacy being broken were with iOS Devices? iCloud photos leaked and Facetime Bug ring a bell?Right, all the more reason to avoid android and allow Apple to keep leading where it matters most, the consumers privacy.
doesnt sale your data, since they make money from hardware, software sells & subscriptions. You can look at their 10K by searching on the web. Google & Facebook are liars. They profit off your data period. Its in their earnings. They can say they care about your privacy , but when Google & Facebook stop having 60% of the web advertisement market, I will listen. If you want to know how much a company cares about your privacy , just look at their income source. The part of privacy is invisible to me. Everyone are saying they are offering privacy, even google.
What does make iOS more secure than other operating systems?
For me it’s invisible and would love someone to explain why iOS is miles ahead in privacy....
I suggest doing encrypted iTunes backup if you live in China. In the rest of the world , your iCloud data is vulnerable ,if you have a weak password, or if law enforcement serves a warrant. Even then iMessage & Facetime data is end to end encrypted.but iCloud backups still are not. Until iCloud data is encrypted, the whole privacy narrative is just mumbo jumbo
In simple terms. Green bubble(AT&T can read) , meanwhile blue bubble(AT&T cannot read)My brother use to work at AT&T and the staff could read your text messages. So I wonder if they still can?
Yes. If you have bad passwords, simple ones, you can lose your photos to hackers. Thats why I keep no photos on the web. Storage is cheap, just get a 4-10 TB harddrive , and use it for keeping videos & photos.Must be looking at leaked iCloud celebrity photos.
Anyone can phish you for passwords. Stop using weak ones.iCloud photos was never hacked. Are we really gonna believe this nonsense. Especially when all the recent issues of privacy being broken were with iOS Devices? iCloud photos leaked and Facetime Bug ring a bell?
iPod Touches are $200. Its not premium. iPhones start at $450 in the states. It starts at $300 in the developing nations.
iOS is just as secure in China, as it is in the rest of the world. iCloud storage remains vulnerable to law enforcement orders, all around the world. Thats why I recommend people to use encrypted iTunes backup. If you live in China, jokes on you....
You can achieve this easily by using iTunes encrypted backup. iMessage & FaceTime keys are not stored by .Unless Apple disables Government Requests, there's no privacy.
It's not just mumbo jumbo. Turn off the iCloud backups if you're paranoid. Or if you're like me and just don't want to pay for it, lolbut iCloud backups still are not. Until iCloud data is encrypted, the whole privacy narrative is just mumbo jumbo
My memory is hazy, but last I checked the messages were encrypted in transit from the phone to the carrier's network at least. I.e. someone can't just put up an antenna and start reading people's messages in flight. That is correct. SMS messages are the most unsecure and less private thing in the world. I used to manage a group of developers that created SMS managing platforms implementing the SMPP protocol that is used to the SMSCs (the platforms that manage and deliver SMS messages). Basically everything is handled as plain text that is stored and transmitted unencrypted. It is not ASCII but GSM 3.38 encoded messages but aside from that, basically plain text.
"Texts" is a very non-technical term used in the U.S. mainly and the moment iMessage appeared, for many people it was just another way of "texting" but it is radically different.
End-to-end encryption is that marketing term you're looking for. Google doesn't even claim to do it. Apple tells you what they do. You can't be sure they're honest, but it's better than nothing. The part of privacy is invisible to me. Everyone are saying they are offering privacy, even google.

That can’t be done on a device level. There is no substantial two way communication in conventional text messages as far as I know.I didn't say it was imessage, but there should be a way to secure a basic text message.

I thought they’re talking about iMessage. Which message in the cloud is end to end encrypted.but iCloud backups still are not. Until iCloud data is encrypted, the whole privacy narrative is just mumbo jumbo
Yes, it’s called “iMessage”. Apple can encrypt a message if both the sender and recipient have Apple devices. They can’t do this if the sender or receiver are on an Android because they don’t control that end.

That's true if you don't trust Apple to handle the pubkey exchange. It's still harder for them to get away with lying about this or just accidentally screwing it up. Whatsapp lets you exchange the pubkey in person, but the app is closed-source, so who knows. I still haven't found a widely used solution that's perfect. It’s not true encryption. For that you’d need both iPhones together in the same space and use a token to link them physically. That’s how governments do it. This is faux encryption.
