I want to upgrade from my wife and I launch day iPhone 6 so bad but I just can’t bring myself to justify the price of these new phones. The XR is sorta appealing but honestly I don’t like the direction Apple is going with these phones. I hate that notch and I hate face scanning.

See what she wants. She shouldn't have to suffer because of your views.

Apple doesn't mess around with getting ads up

If i had that much dust i would be seriously considering to change location.

youre still using apple cables? I only use the usb-c one now but never had an issue with them breaking. I dont yank on the cable like most people
It has nothing to do with yanking on the cables. It may be due to environmental factors, but I've had cables where all of the insulation seemed to rot off, little by little, until there was nothing but the wire's EMI shielding left. The insulation would seem to harden and crack off in chunks. You can't tell me that has anything to do with whether or not one pulls on the wire. Like I said, it may be due to some sort of environmental condition, but Apple's cables seem to be capable of biodegrading before you're done using them. Not great.

It happens to everyone. Those are cheap cases made in China which Apple charges a premium. It's not just lightning cables, but power cables for MacBooks as well.

iPhones are the new hot computers everyone is using. Folks rarely reach for the laptop, they are reaching for their phones to get things done. Can you blame Apple for focusing more efforts on devices folks will spend $1000 every year or two versus a laptop/iMac that folks will buy every 5+ years? It's a no brainer from a business perspective.

I'm not sure I agree. You can't do any serious work on a phone IMO - tiny keyboards, small screens, awkward web browsing. Phones are a convenient way of trying to do simple things, but no way do they replace a full size computer. It's a different story if you can hook them up to a keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Not saying they are replacing laptops and computers in the enterprise, I'm saying they are the new must have utility. Everyone has to have them at all ages and they bring in strong revenue every year.

furtermore the "dual sim" is literally a joke for majority of users
Seems that you are not aware of people living in India and China. They need dual sim. Also, separating working phone with personal phone makes a lot of sense for me.

No iPhone has been proven to be too expensive for the general market...yet.
Maybe we need an iPhone that costs $5000 next year exclude tax. Would this price let people think “hmm, it is a bit pricey” or just buy it anyway?

I have used the same 4 power cables for the last 2 years. A 2m USB A lightning for my iPad Pro, a 1m USB A for my iPhone, a 2m Apple Watch charger and a 2m USB C to USB C for my MacBook Pro. All 4 cables are in pristine condition. As are the cables used on my Wife and sons Apple devices (another 8 cables, all 2 years old or older). Since the cables Apple shipped became that little bit thicker we have stopped having fraying iPhone cables.

Getting tired of same form factor since 6...It is like those Samsung Galaxy S2,S3,S4,S5,S6 days.....until they came with metal and curved edges!

I agree Samsung phones do look dated, they really need to update their design.
They should also add a flat display.

I would really like a max, but i think i'll stick with my SE and maybe next year I'll pick up a price reduced max, it's time to start being on the one year back upgrade program it makes financial sense

I think the fact that they discontinued the X says it all. Nothing really new at all.

I did order a Xs 64GB in Gold, but only because I’m giving my iPhone 7 away. I’m going to miss it, and honestly think in Matte Black it’s the best looking iPhone Apple made to date.

I do want an OLED screen and I tried an S8 for 3 days last year before returning it as I couldn’t cope with Android, so only option for OLED is iPhone Xs (Xs Max is too big / expensive) but I still hate the concept of the notch, I hate that I won’t be able to check notifications on my phone as easily with Face ID when the phone is sitting on a desk, and I still hate the stupid aspect ratio.

I’m gonna flip if they sort all of the above out next year :D not spending 1179 Euro again on a phone next year or anytime soon.

why does Apple state that you can do f1.4 in the camera app on the new iPhones when the phone doesn't have an f1.4 aperture lens?

Tbh that’s what’s neat about the Galaxy series with Samsung Dex. You can indeed hook it up to a monitor and have a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to it with multiple windows and everything.

Try next year if you’re lucky.

Doubt we see it til 2020
Weren’t they late with 4G as well? I remember something about that.

If they manage to figure out how to keep devices cool

I would bet on ee too, they have the momentum. But the network isn’t really the problem it’s the handsets.

The first prototype was just shown, it’s huge and might suffer from thermal issues.

Having said that I will have a 5g mifi as soon as they are available.

Depends how much the iPhone is important to you. I can understand what you are saying, however as someone who has moved from iPhone 6 plus to iPhone 7 plus last year, the speed difference along with the improved camera is *really* worthwhile. I really waited too long to upgrade.

Would suggest you consider selling the 6 and look at least at an iphone 7 or iphone 8

Thanks

Can someone explain,

Why bokeh and adjustable depth effects are only available on the XS and not on the X?
The camera hardware is exactly same, at least listed same on apple's website.

Sadness.
It would give people less of an incentive to upgrade. To me this highlights how teeny weeny of a upgrade the XS is this year.

But how can anyone live without bokeh?

Bokeh at twice the price is still bokeh!

I am upgrading today! I may buy two!

Why not $50,000 if you’re just throwing numbers out?

Point has been, Apple has some pricing power. We aren’t talking about increasing prices 5X.

So, not a major upgrade? I mean these are all iPhone X phones. Xs, Xr, Xs Max. Nothing here that says iPhone 11. And nothing from Apple stating that they were pulling a Microsoft and everything going forward would be iPhone X. They got rid of the X, but then they didn't, because these are all X phones. I don't see where that is disingenuous at all until Apple puts out an iPhone 11 I do not see why anyone should be let down that these phones are not worth upgrading to.
