Feel free to call me homophobic (despite I fully support anti-discrimination laws as well as marriage and adoption rights for gay couples), but I don't think gay pride parades are really a solution to anything. Whenever I look at some of the more... Let's call them "daring"... floats go by I somehow get the feeling they're intentionally built to bring out anti gay-sentiment in people who have them, but are smart enough to keep them to themselves AND (more importantly) people who are still on the fence.
So to put it simply: I think gay pride parades are to the gay rights movement what PETA is to the animal rights movement.
