To start yes I drink the apple Kool-Aid and these are my favorite actors. Just watching this trailer I have no want to even watch this show. Apple is genius at marketing but not here or the show is just that bad.

All the money in the world doesn't guarantee good content. You can make amazing content on a shoe string budget with the right talent. Maybe if they're completely hands-off they could commission visionaries to create something truly worthwhile for them but Apple is the king of micromanagement (which TBF for the most part has worked very well for them) and creating content is a different kettle of fish to creating silicon and software. We're about to find out how much they understand that!
It doesn’t, but you keep spending until you get it right. Apple has nearly unlimited resources.

Money is the name of the game in content.

Leaving aside the Channel BT discussion, I think you are broadly correct. Rather than be concentrating on being the best platform to watch content from any streaming service, Apple has decided to compete with them. This is the brain dead sort of **** that the MBA types running cell phone carriers have tried on, forgetting they are essentially big dumb pipes. Well Apple isn’t dumb, but it got where it is today by selling a perfect marriage of OS and hardware. You make content from stuff you bought from Apple, buying the content from them too may not end well if the real content providers tell them the get lost, like Netflix is starting to find out.

Edit: At this point, the best way to monetise this would seem to be offer the service free with every new iPhone or Mac, or just as part of the Apple Music subscription, at best maybe with $2 extra. it doesn’t look like enough on its own, unless you get the entire iTunes movie and TV show catalogue as well, which is unlikely.

I completely agree, although the monetising option you're saying; it'd influence me to upgrade my current iPhone.

PS: I have an MBA; we are not all the same!
