What an artistic load of rubbish.

Sad people live in such crappy homes. They should save their money to buy a bigger place.

This is a great music video and shows how music & a nap can help a person to recover from a long day.

You don’t need a HomePod to do that though, she could’ve used any speaker & music souce
Said the guy who doesn’t own a HomePod. The HomePod is all about convenience. Add some smart globes and some lamps and that’s more convenience.

While I think it was too soon to reboot Dr. Strange, I thought that was really good!

All I see is people loving the advertisement; not going "Wow, I need the product". If the point of an advertisement is to sell a product judging by the replies so far it's failed.

The same could have been said for their wildly effective series of Christmas ads which made people want to hang out with their families instead of their iPhones. Yet here we are and people bought them like crazy.

What a sad life Apple has in mind for us... technology as the only happy companion to our miserable lives... This Ad, well crafted for sure, left me with this sad feeling, I think it's really an unlucky (probably involuntary) message.

Clearly you’ve never had a very tiring workday and then returned to a starter apartment in a city. This isn’t some bizarre dystopian film. That was my Monday every week for about two years back in the late 90s.

I'm not in advertising, but I would guess that ads like this one influence the feeling you will have about a product. For most people that plays a much larger role in determining what products they end up buying than they'd probably like to admit. As someone else pointed out, any other speaker could serve the HomePod's function in the ad just as well. But the ad will help link a certain mood and atmosphere specifically to the image of HomePod that people will have in mind.

I was sure that I wouldn't buy one but I ultimately decided to give it a try. I like it. I can't really say that I find the sound any better than the Sonos I own but it's definitely a nice speaker.
I have been more than surprised by how convenient I have found it. Whether it's requesting hearing a playlist from my iTunes Match (I'm not an Apple Music subscriber), having Siri set a timer, tell me the weather, add a reminder, etc, I have found it to be incredibly convenient. The voice recognition has been excellent.
I am listening to more music when just putzing around the house.
I can't say that I've seen a lot of Apple ads for the HomePod thus far but this one is nice.

Cant deny it is an amazing advert, a true work of art. If only they put as much effort into improving Siri. Best advert of the year for the worst product of the year. Seriously all Apple is is marketing these days, once upon a time, there was a technology company behind it to back it up.

Music brings out the best out of us, even in our darkest times. Its not that complex to comprehend from the advert.

I might believe that was the message had Apple not used a HomePod at the beginning or put "Homepod" on the screen at the end. I think they have a different message.

This one is over my head- I go all the way back with Apple, and there was always a little magic in their products, even if there really wasn't - (thinking IIgs and even Newton here...). The Home Pod is really far behind, especially in the most important category- its sound quality! We're a Sonos home- have several 5's , 3's and 1's mixed about- the sound is heads and shoulders above Home Pod- works with Spotify, Apple Music, and my library.

I can only imagine how much time, effort and funding went into making this film- its great. For me it only enhances how far behind Apple is in this field - Even their old iPod HiFi sounded better.

The advertisement symbolizes the feeling of euphoria you get as you just tune out and jam to your favorite music after a stressful day. The HomePod is an experience and it is amazing. In love with mine.

So, given the same stressful day, and the same music, I couldn't have had the same psychodelic episode with, say, a Sonos Play 5 or a Google device, or even (god forbid) a nice stereo system with my iPhone streaming to it?

You are talking/reading MacRumor guys here. Every one knows the product Guys here don't need the add to go banana, they learn things well before product is even released.
So, that's why they discus the add and not the product.

That was a really cool music video. I just didn't care for it as an ad. I definitely didn't sell me on the homepod. My two take aways are 1) homepod users are lonely and 2) Apple is gong to ride its customers until it's over.

I felt pity for her more than anything. The ad should have ended with her thinking, "Gee, next time I should stop by the local pub and mingle with real human beings at the end of a long day".

Frankly, with my varied music collection, asking Siri to "play me something I like" might result in Black Sabbath or Carmina Burana, both not really ending a day on a positive note. ;-)

perfectly executed.

also, perfectly disconnected from the actual product, and while this surely is a trend in advertising, I do not see any difference or advancements (Siri looking at you) from the Zooey Deschanel ad that aired 6 years back.

Nothing compelling about it.

HP was DOA and this long form fluff piece isn't going to save it. Props to SJ...He did a nice job regardless and will probably if he hasn't already sign on to Direct Original content for the company.

Nope. When you tried to push on your walls, instead of opening up creating more space, they would close in on you. Here's the same long-form-type commercial using ANY speaker other than HP...

They really tapped into the dream of every New Yorker: the ability to magically enlarge their apartment. Hahaha. Good ad though.

It's the American Dream with a home speaker friend! now that's innovation.

Or, could have been the trailer for Joaquin Phoenix's "Her".

what's also annoying is how disconnected the actual person/actor from the people experiencing days like that actually is.

Lol, I was so envious. Around Thanksgiving I was trying to add a leaf to expand my dining table. The connections had corroded the table shut and I found myself under the table grabbing onto the legs and trying to kick the danged thing apart so I could expand it. I guess all I needed was a Homepod. :p

Unfortunately, I couldn’t finish watching the video. Seizure disorder sufferer here...what I’ve got is not quite epilepsy but a related disorder. I’ve had problems with many of Apple’s more recent flashy commercials. I’ll be glad when the trend for using flashy strobe effects on everything dies out.
