I won't waste my money on the homepod until they fix siri. There are better solutions out there. If you want a speaker I've gone with Sonos for the moment. Fix Siri on my phone and then I'll go with Homepod. Right now 1/2 the time I'm requesting a song and siri doesn't understand and gives me a cutesy response that isn't funny. Oh well.

Very good commercial.

If Tarsem Singh had made it...

Hey Siri play some classical music.

Beethoven’s Symphony No 7 in A major, OP 92 II starts playing and the adventure begins...

What a sad life Apple has in mind for us... technology as the only happy companion to our miserable lives... This Ad, well crafted for sure, left me with this sad feeling, I think it's really an unlucky (probably involuntary) message.

And I add that Apple intentions toward "solitary target" audience is not well covered but instead stressed by the assignment of the direction to Spike Jonze, who directed Her, a movie about loneliness and relationships with AI. So what are we talking about? They want us to be lonely and addicted to technology instead of suggesting good social habits.

Many people here are suggesting the ad is no good because... 'It don't really show you the HomePod', 'it don't show the Tech specs', 'it don't show it's full functionality' and 'How is this going to make people buy a HomePod?' The fact that people are talking about it means it's done it's job! Good advertising means you don't have to thrust the product in the publics face and overload them with useless facts about it. Well done Apple. Job Done!

The ad is high production and creative. The ad for the HomePod is where? I mean I can fire up my HT dual sub system and play the same song in full aural surround. How about showing more of what Siri and HP can do instead.

Speakers are never necessary, they're not food, so your comment is pointless.

A lot of people after a long day need a break and music provides this kind of escape. That's litterally what if provides and why people listen to it.

So just skip over it, and keep ignoring the lonely message of wishing for a better life through the means of...wait for it... a homepod!

I can understand the escaping part, but if one is buying into the commercial and saving for a homepod...one is escaping nothing!
(how about a pair of headphones or a cheaper& more versatile equipment?)

Wow. This is so insightful. I missed the conversation with her doctor about how she's clinically depressed. I'll need to watch it again ;)

I guess this is par for the the course nowadays; no one can have a bad day without being "clinically depressed".

You go watch it, and admire the acting prowess that I didn't contest.

It seemed a little unnecessary to have her looking so miserable before the music kicked in, but maybe that’s just nitpicking. Really cool ad, I was wondering the whole time how they even accomplished it, seems like a technical nightmare.

Who knew ones life would be so changed. By not having to rest the needle of a record player's arm on their favorite album.

This singular invention. Breaks us away from the drudgery. Of pressing play on our playlist.

For only $350 you no longer have to walk over to your computer, pick up a remote or take your phone out of your pocket.

Worst Apple commercial ever! Seriously, hey siri play me something I would like... really makes me want to go out and buy a home-pod for $350 bucks.

I can tell they spent a lot of money on a commercial (desperate times call for desperate measures).
It did nothing to make me want to buy a HomePod however.
Steven Spielberg couldn't get me to buy a HomePod.

The same could have been said for their wildly effective series of Christmas ads which made people want to hang out with their families instead of their iPhones. Yet here we are and people bought them like crazy.

Clearly you’ve never had a very tiring workday and then returned to a starter apartment in a city. This isn’t some bizarre dystopian film. That was my Monday every week for about two years back in the late 90s.

no, it's ok, I am ok with that. I am scared with the fact that Apple is targeting lonely people telling them that their life will be happier if they have a AI companion instead of getting a life...

Exactly, which is why so many still don't know what good advertising is. Theres a constant disregard that a lot of us are nerds/geeks around here and Apple is marketing to the masses who don't give a crap about specs and charts and gobs of information.

And once again......This isn't about a 'smart speaker' its about a smart 'speaker'. Technically from a sound perspective the HomePod is the smartest speaker around right now since it adapts to its surroundings and makes music sound awesome for its small size. Thats what people think is cool. The nerds will be nerds and hate. Thats fine.

Soon will come the headlines that its the most popular home speaker and the haters will be saying 'but...but......but'.

I think the point is showing how music can put you in another world for a while. But if you wanna be all negative about it then fine....think it’s about being lonely. I guess some are afraid to be alone with their own thoughts sometimes.

If you are a miserable person that doesn't like to talk to people (especially useful ai) while you stand alone in the middle of the room staring at your couch, we have just the product or you.

a speaker.

I love Spike, but that commercial makes apple enthusiast look like 4chan users.

What on earth are you even talking about though?

How on earth does someone coming home from work and kicking back to some music indicate that they have no life?

And there isn't even anything in the ad suggesting people would be happier if they had an AI companion.

The only suggestion in the ad is that its sometimes good to kick back to some music at home after a day at work.

I smell new-old bugs in mac/iOS:

This nice effect can only be done in Windows.

Loving all the loneliness/miserableness projection asserted here.

Says a lot about many of the posters. And, is possibly related to the need to trash companies such as Apple and executives - it makes people feel good for a minute or two.

I think nowadays, we don't have to know every spec on a gadget to fully enjoy it. I've been a geek since the 70's and back then, specs were very important factors in everyone's buying decisions. These days, it's amazing what they put out from these small speakers that specs just come about to satisfy one's curiosity.

The first time I heard the Bose SoundLink Mini, I was amazed...and I still am! The geek in me wanted to know the specs but as we know, Bose doesn't disclosed all that. That is when I just let go and just enjoy what I have.

I believe this is what Apple is trying to achieve. Be surprised on what you hear the first time around and enjoy the HomePod for what it is.

Yep, I was in the same situation with my Soundlink mini. And while I’m still a geek at heart it’s nice to just sit back and enjoy stuff.
