Exactly. Along with managing to reduce environmental e-waste. One is more important than the other as it has a lasting effect on the earth. (Which one is that?)Cutting down on packaging really means new and innovative ways to increase profits.

So a family buys 5 Apple Watches but only has one iphone in the family that they share. Without any other USB devices or computers? I suppose it's possible, but along the same probability as snow in Aruba.I can already see a family of 5 wanting to charge their watches with 1 available charger...
C'mon lol.
Exactly. This is just like the removal of the headphone jack. At first there were lots of complaints. As time went on, the complaints became fewer and fewer until there are only the last few diehards that will never let it go.No matter what Apple does, someone's gonna whine about it.![]()

Give it some time and it will snow there. At least according to all climate alarmist.
Murphy's law. It's real.
Yes, sometimes a company shows you they dont care about you and are total cheapskates and you decide - screw them. A car is 20-100K but if there were no $500 wheels on it I would buy from that manufacture. No price change, nothing just “Hey this thing we used to pay for - now you have to pay for it...suckers!”You were ready to drop over $400 and changed your mind because a 5W power adapter that you probably already have, and if you don't, can buy for $5, isn't included? Or for some other, more rational reason?
See...this is why environmentalists make such great movie villains. They want to make your life worse then blame you for not liking it.then you are the problem.
Just like the air. I’m sure iPhone pros will have the charger cause it’s going to be a 20w. But the regular iPhone 12 and lower won’t.
The apple watch chargers are at least $30 these days.
Well your previous car had wheels so you can use those.... that is essentially the logic some apple fanatics are using to justify this. Its insane.
its the same adapter as the phone, I have like 6 of them from over the years, they are basically in every outlet. coupled with the USB ported power supplies and its crazy how many places in my house you can change watch, phone, headphones....I can already see a family of 5 wanting to charge their watches with 1 available charger...
C'mon lol.

The problem here is that some people end up selling their old iPhones or old watches with power adapters and cables, then they buy the new iPhone or watch and have no way to charge it. I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max, It comes with a different type of adapter, an usb c and that is all that I have. I am planning on selling my old watch to a friend and I will have to buy the new watch plus an adapter to charge it? No way! Apple can keep that watch. They want to decrease their carbon imprint? It seems more like millions more in profits for the company. Because hundreds of millions in their savings is not enough!
Did you just climate change deny on a tech forum?
this is my point exactly! i get if everything is all USB-C, but part are lighting so the adapters aren't all the same. it's a money grab for sure. The problem here is that some people end up selling their old iPhones or old watches with power adapters and cables, then they buy the new iPhone or watch and have no way to charge it. if he sold his other devices, then he sold them with the adapter....why is this concept so difficult to grasp? I sell all my old stuff and include the adapter and cable.Wait - you've been on MacRumors for well over eight years and you're saying the only USBA charging option you own is the 5W block that'd come with your watch?
Sorry, I don't buy it.
... and if you are actually telling the truth, it's a whopping $4.45 to get one shipped to your door.
Unless you're one of those who's been fooled into thinking large companies care about you, just move on and solve the problem yourself.
depends what iPad you buy...different charging blocks depending on the iPad. Plus the watch cable can't plug into iPad Pro charging block.Im gonna buy the ipad just to get a charger. They should market it as selling the charger and the ipad comes with it

Of course! I also believe earth is flat!
How else could you read what I wrote?
Right?
You may be the rare exception, and in that case you will have to buy a charger from Apple (maybe and a cable also).if he sold his other devices, then he sold them with the adapter....why is this concept so difficult to grasp? I sell all my old stuff and include the adapter and cable.
doubtful. You may be the rare exception, and in that case you will have to buy a charger from Apple (maybe and a cable also).
heck, why even include charging cables. you should have an extra laying aroundThe part that I find highly improbable is that over such a stretch of time, that person neither:
There are always the rare exceptions of course, which is why I also directed the person to a source for OEM Apple 5W chargers delivered for less than the price of a cheap lunch out. Heck, less than a cup of fancied up coffee.
- happened to buy other devices with a USB charger they can use for the watch if needed,
- never had a device fail / die / become obsolete and thus leave an extra charger available for use,
- nor ever happened to buy an extra single or dualport charger for convenience of having an extra somewhere else at their residence.
