I noticed (well here in the UK at least) that the 44mm stainless steel version is £50 cheaper than last years model.
I wasn't sure at first, but when I checked the invoice for my Series 5, the Series 5 was £749. I'm pleased that Apple have lowered the price, with the removal of the power adaptor. I was expecting greedy Apple to charge the same for less.

People defending this have completely lost the plot. The mental contortions they need to go through is amusing to watch.

i have a nice selection of iPad chargers laying around the house that can be used for charging a watch never mind the Anker USB A/C charger I currently use for my IPP and watch. Motorola have been doing this for years, it’s about time the rest of the industry caught up.

I can already see a family of 5 wanting to charge their watches with 1 available charger...
C'mon lol.
Anyone who can buy 5 new Watches (the only way you end up without an adapter) at a single go can afford whatever charger they want to get to make that scenario work for them. Stop inventing unrealistic scenarios.

If you have another Apple iOS product you already have a charger. If you have a wall mounted multi-outlet thingy, you have probably have USB. Hell, I'm surprised they aren't included in cereal boxes. The only thing more ubiquitous at this point in the game is the USB connector.

So many whiny ass children on here looking to bitch so people will pay attention to them.

Cutting down on packaging really means new and innovative ways to increase profits.

Good. I love the smell of Apple profits in the morning. Makes my retirement portfolio keep growing. Allows me to keep buying new Apple products with those stock gains. It’s called, “fiduciary responsibility” and is required of all publicly traded companies.

I was ready to buy, and I think they’ve actually convinced me not to...

In all seriousness, no snark, if this is enough of a reason to make you not buy, then you shouldn't have bought it to begin with. If it is a "principal" thing, I would suggest considering holistically. I can not be the only person who has both a ton of these around the house, but also numerous USB sockets (seems the trendy thing to add to a surge protector these days), making it functionally waste.

Would you expect to buy a PS5 without a power cable because "everyone has a 2pin power cable"?

Or a Laptop without a usb charger "because we have loads of them around the house"?

No the device is dependent on the charger to function, so it should come included...ESPECIALLY when that device is a high-end price compared to the rest of the market.

This is nothing but a way for Apple to bump their profits by $100m+ each year (if not more when you take into account addition usb plug sales with every device sold).

If it was about the environment they would pass the savings onto us, which they haven't, they have actually increased it lmao.
This is the exact same thing I think every time this comes up, Earbuds are not essential so whatever, but your device will eventually cease to function without a charge. And now with the watch thing. A) It's a junky 5W. B) You aren't potentially in danger if you watch dies. If your iPhone dies and it is your sole communications device and you have an emergency, you could potentially be in danger.

I have one question:

1. No adaptor included with the Apple Watch, but can anyone confirm if it comes with a USB-C to magnetic cable or USB-A to magnetic? I can't find anything on the website to clarify this.

Nailed it. Especially with that last sentence.

For all of you claiming that the watch price increased, I’m not sure what website you’re looking at, or what keynote you watched. Apple hasn’t upped the price of the watch since 2018, and has added features. So if you really think that you’re paying more and getting less, you are sorely mistaken.

Most of the Apple community is pretty gullible when it comes to stuff like this.

Removing headphone jacks, soldering components, removing upgradability, removing ports, etc. Regardless of how they try to pitch it, none of it is for the users benefit. It’s all value-engineering. You think when the headphone jack was removed, they didn’t already have the AirPods in the pipeline roadmap.

But half of the posters here eat it up.

I don't see why people would be upset. Not only are they universally available, I would be willing to bet every person commenting in this room already has a handful of these charger blocks in a drawer somewhere.

Fine if the cable included is USB-A everyone has tons of those and you don't need an extra adapter for an iPhone accessory. Airpods don't come with one either.
You were ready to drop over $400 and changed your mind because a 5W power adapter that you probably already have, and if you don't, can buy for $5, isn't included? Or for some other, more rational reason?
Problem is the iPhone comes with a USB-C cable which I have no computers with and no wall adapters for. If I buy an iPhone without a wall adapter today i'm screwed unless I use my old lightning cable. Being said the iPhone 12 might not even have lightning
