Anyone who can buy 5 new Watches (the only way you end up without an adapter) at a single go can afford whatever charger they want to get to make that scenario work for them. Stop inventing unrealistic scenarios.

If you have another Apple iOS product you already have a charger. If you have a wall mounted multi-outlet thingy, you have probably have USB. Hell, I'm surprised they aren't included in cereal boxes. The only thing more ubiquitous at this point in the game is the USB connector.

So many whiny ass children on here looking to bitch so people will pay attention to them.

So who is more whiny? the whiny or the one that whines about the whiny?
And more... did you just pay attention to those you deem unworthy of attention?
rofl.
Many people will have to pay EXTRA to have their device running no matter if they can afford it or not (if indeed the case is there's no way to charge it out of the box without 3rd party device). How many will use non apple charges and will be told oops you used a non apple charger sorry we will not fix your watch... Wait... it already happened didn't it?
I'm starting to realize that we entered such an absurd phase of human development that some people genuinely think they are nails and love getting hit with a hammer on every possible occasion.

I found it insulting that they tried to pitch this clear as day profit increasing/cost reducing decision as some kind of pro-environment nonsense.

Yes they save money, but I mean e-waste is a real thing whether you care or not. I can attest that I have over 30+ useless 5W adapters all around my house from various Apple and other devices. I won't miss it not being in the box and I don't think I am alone. But feel free to pile on the hate if it makes you feel better.

I'd be fine with it, if they were just honest about why they're doing it - penny pinching. If it's truly about the environment, prove it - cut the price accordingly.

I don’t think there’s a comparison there but okay 😂

Well, when I sell my old car, the buyer doesn't seem happy if I want to take off the wheels. When I sell an old iPhone, the buyer doesn't seem happy if I don't want to include a power adapter.

I guess this is yet another way for Apple to attack the second hand market.

I'm not 100% sure, but doesn't Apple themselves give you less credit on a phone trade in without the power adapter? The third parties seem to, for good reason.

Did you not see it comes with a way to charge your device?

This isn't a big deal for the watch, which still requires an iPhone for setup. This would be a much bigger deal with the phones, which are many people's primary computers nowadays.

If e-waste would be real we would never have airpods. Millions batteries replaced every year and thrown into garbage bins.

Honestly, I’m fine with it. If you have a Watch it implies you have an iPhone...which includes an adapter.
Why not just buy the bands separately? Or a cable separately? Why not just sell just the actual watch? if you can’t use it every day out of the box and you paid hundreds of dollars for it, what’s the point?

If Apple wants to be Eco and fair to the customers there was/is an EASY solution: give a customers choice if they need a power supply or not (simple checkbox)!!! Everyone knows that this is a cost saving move to generate more profits for Apple!!!

There's plenty of cheap lightning cables that are cheaper and better than the Apple supplied ones. Not so for the watch, I tried a couple, they work barely, sometimes.

It's not like I'm gonna sell my old watch without the cable. Or send it to Apple for recycling if it's still perfectly functional.
Does the watch support standardized wireless charging? If so, then I'd be okay with dropping the charger. Or if I could charge it off the back of phone wirelessly.

the iPhone doesn't include the little charging puck required to charge the watch...

I think some people are interpreting this as "you can't charge the watch without buying something extra." The new watches DO come with the CABLE, just not the little white adapter box with the USB connection at the end.

As others have stated, you need an iPhone to use the watch, so you already have the adapter. While Apple's charging cables tend to go bad fairly quickly, the actual charging adapters will outlast the watch by years.

This move also allows Apple to change the connection method of the adapter in the future without you having to purchase a whole new adapter/cable combo - which would cost a lot more.

Now the actual watch costing more with less in the box is another story...

I briefly noticed from one of the screens from the event, that the Series 6 now supports 5GHZ wifi.

No, but the watch does. Did you not know that? The only thing required for the watch is the little white box (adapter) at the end. The cable with the puck is included.

During Apple event shows today they said they will not include the cables or charging anymore for further devices with lighting cable! Only usb C devices get new chargers since we don’t have them

Fine if the cable included is USB-A everyone has tons of those and you don't need an extra adapter for an iPhone accessory. Airpods don't come with one either.

Problem is the iPhone comes with a USB-C cable which I have no computers with and no wall adapters for. If I buy an iPhone without a wall adapter today i'm screwed unless I use my old lightning cable. Being said the iPhone 12 might not even have lightning

Some iPhones have the USB-C-Lightning cable. High-end ones, the ones that people have to spend a grand on, who'll have no problem buying a $30 power adapter if they don't have one.

BUT you can use any Lightning cable with Lightning iPhones, so if you really were so left out with the USB-C cable, you can always buy a Lightning USB-A cable, which are like $5 and available pretty much everywhere, I see them in supermarkets, pharmacies, etc.

So I've never owned a watch or a USB-C product... so now I got to go buy one separately? Lame.

EDIT: The article should indicate you can still use other USB cables to charge a watch - not all of us have one or follow its developments.

Or if you really need a charger, go buy one. But you, like everyone else complaining, most likely have a dozen chargers already. But sure, be up in arms about something you don't really need. Who really is being greedy here, Apple, or those complaining over a cheap charger?

I was ready to buy, and I think they’ve actually convinced me not to...

You don't have an extra USB charger? I have at least a dozen here and there.

No worries though, mate. Simply purchase a Samsung watch and you'll be all set!
