They could do better in communication and be aware of the situation earlier.
Of course, we don't know what was going on in the background. In retrospect, I think the response I got when I called Apple earlier today indicated that a lot was going on in the background. But I do agree communication was lacking. I am a great proponent of transparency though not everyone would agree that it is alway the best policy.

MBP 16/1
Ordered: Nov 11
Status: Processing
Delivery: Nov 27 - Dec 4

It still has not shipped. Apple “assures” me that the order looks good and that it will deliver on time. I’m skeptical.

Any other 11/11 orders that still haven’t even shipped?

That's the problem, for both Apple and UPS, maybe all companies with dedicated customer support team.
The customer support representatives do not understand what's going on when something unusual happens, the best thing they can do is to report. Meanwhile, the ones who knows will not talk to customers directly, they will not even notice the customer support team the situation for complicated reasons.

Perhaps they will redirect a local stock for you once it arrived US with other stocks?

It ships with a clean installation. Why would you do it again??

A couple of reasons... I'm an old Windows person and my habits have carried over... and I also wanted to experiment and learn the new installation process... and lastly, installing non working Canon printer drivers froze the machine...

:0)

All fixed now though using Terminal commands from Apple support...

Mac Mini M1 16GB/512GB ordered 11/28/2020 with delivery estimate 12/17-12/24.

Status - Processing

Shipping to Melbourne Australia.

My delivery is 9 days late now. I just talked to the Apple Support. The Support employee jumped in a call with UPS and she came back with a frustrating result. “There is a high probability your order still hasn’t left Shanghai. I have asked UPS for an investigation.” It will take 2-10 business days till Apple will receive the result from UPS. Yey.

I don’t even know what to say 😪 so next update will be „delivery is delayed“ again 🤬 I don’t want to check the app. Can’t believe this, how long are they planning to do this? This is beyond frustrating 😒

Under your order it either says “Express Delivery” or “Standard Delivery”.

If it says Express it’ll ship from a local warehouse. But it has to get there first.

My 11/11 ordered MBP 16GB/1TB has a Nov 27 - Dec 4 delivery date and is still processing but I was told it would come from a local warehouse and it does say “Express Delivery” on it.

If I go to order the same thing today it says “Standard Delivery”.

So I think if you’re in this state you won’t be charged until it ships from the local warehouse.

So for everyone who has their Macbook Air in Pro stuck in Shanghai is your shipping method Standard?

My order for a BTO Mini on Nov 18th was just charged. Does this mean I can expect it to ship soon?

In this tracking mambo 2-10 business day for an investigation does not sound too bad. ;-) Probably our macs will still be in Shanghai 10 business days from now anyway. 😆

#ShanghaiGangUSA: @Gnattu @neworbit99 @jdcohnsf any arrival scan yet? It's been over 7 hours since the departure scan from Anchorage.

Has me worried.
I was thinking the same thing. My departure update from Anchorage was 9:30 on 12/1. We don't know how the charter flight from PVG plugs into the UPS system once at Anchorage (i.e. continues on to somewhere or turns over to UPS at that point?) - so tough to say.

But I think its all moving now so we just need to keep an eye on it.

Nothing since a departed Anchorage facility scan last night at 9:33 pm. Perhaps that scan did not mean charter flight was going on to Louisville - just that pallets left plane in Anchorage to await regular UPS flights today.
