Forgot to mention, for anyone with a 256gb model that doesnt want all their iphone photos that are on your iphone or icloud from multiple iphones make sure that you turn off icloud photos as soon as you setup your mac. I noticed mine downloading from the icloud immediately and had to delete almost 1000 photos lol.

I have my own 64tb nas setup in my house with a redundency hardrive setup just encase a hdd fails since this is where I keep all my data and makes it where I dont need more than 256gb. Alot of people tend forget to turn off the icloud photo/document icloud downloads and it auto fill up their hdd's thinking they need more space when its all just duplicate data from your iphones/previous macs.

UPS92 which usually flew to Shanghai before it started to get diverted to Hong Kong after 11/21 just departed.

Well those of us that had a scan in Shanghai yesterday, if you believe it was because there was flight from Shanghai to Tokyo, the first flight from Tokyo to AK since then lands in a few hours 🤞

I totally doubt this too... but why did she say that? Another user was also told his MacBook is already in Germany... why just not simply say, please wait a little longer we will investigate this? But lying? I don’t get that...
Anyway, still hope that we’re getting it this week.
I had a chat with the UPS Support. The packages yesterday had a physical!!! scan in Shanghai, when the tracking got updated.

Longshot Anyone in the U.S order their M1 Mac from expercom? Ordered a 16/512 Mac mini on the 20th.

Order is processed but still waiting on a shipping.

It's officially here! It was delivered at 10:32am!! I'm typing this post on the computer, and I'm utterly in love! I'll create a second post after this will my full timeline as a data point for those that come after me, this post is just to gush! I got the 16-inch 2019 MacBook Pro with 2.3GHz Core i9 Turbo Boost up to 4.8GHz. AMD Radeon 5500M with 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM (upgraded from the 4GB). 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM. It's fast, it's beautiful and it's all mine!

I'm upgrading from the 2015 MacBook Pro, the higher end base model so there are a lot of features I haven't gotten to use yet. The Touch Bar and Touch ID for instance, the massive trackpad, the space gray color of course, and finally the keyboard. The 2019 fixes all the problems that the previous iterations had with the butterfly keyboard, going back to a scissor mechanism, however they did keep what they were trying to accomplish with the butterfly keyboard. In other words, they kept what was great about it, and ditched what wasn't. The new scissor keyboard is a dream. I type just as fast on it, likely will speed up as I get used to it more. The press itself is less spongy and bouncy as the 2015's scissor keyboard, the keys are a little bit bigger which I really like.

The trackpad is just massive, it's bigger than my iPhone 11 Pro Max, and it's really amazing being able to go from one corner of the screen to the other without having to lift my finger.

Touch ID makes so many processes so much easier, even just using auto-fill to log in to a website, the most commonly used password at the top has a Touch ID symbol, if I use my finger with it, it automatically fills the info and logs me in. No extra clicking needed.

The screen is SO bright and crisp and beautiful! The smaller bezels around the edges to help achieve the 16 inches is also a nice effect.

The speakers, oh. my. god. They're completely amazing. The dual cancelling woofers create amazing bass with such a clean, rattle-free sound. It's super loud, and the best quality I've heard in a laptop. I compared it directly with my husbands Alienware Area 51 M laptop, and it's massively better, so much cleaner and louder.

Long story short, this is the best computer I've every owned or could dream of owning right now. I'm over the moon! Order to delivery timeline coming shortly, bout to install Big Sur.

Curious if anyone else has run into this before. I ordered a base MacBook air with 16gb ram last week and the estimated delivery was December 30 (and still shows December 30). But now if I go try to order that same configuration it shows estimated delivery December 23. Will my order ship early or should I cancel and then reorder?

I would have been surprised if this wasn't a physical scan. I believe only the location for customs-related and "label creation" scans can differ from the physical location of the parcel.

But good thing is that a scan means the parcels are not stuck (anymore.)

I can only imagine that re-ordering would be the wrong thing to do. Apple often move times on peoples order statuses so I think it's just a case of playing the waiting game. Ordering again would guarantee you a spot at the back of the queue.

I’m so jealous! Mine is STILL listed as being at my local FedEx facility. As long as it doesn’t still say “not scheduled for delivery” for today, I’m remaining hopeful. Looks like the first timestamp of the day is like a “check in” and then the next timestamp is like what it’s doing for the day or something. I could still see another update in about 1½ hours either for delivery or yet ANOTHER day in a warehouse.

Again, for anyone else that says FedEx is better than UPS:
In roughly 25 hours my M1 MBP 16GB/2TB went from Shanghai to Anchorage, to Memphis, to Chicago, and finally to my local facility. 25+ hours! Then after checking in at 7:50AM on a Friday morning, it remained on a shelf for (so far) over 73 hours! Ok fine, “no weekend delivery”.. and yes, it did arrive on Black (metal) Friday.. but come on! I’ve had all weekend off and still have today off.

Oh dang! That really sucks! I completely think FedEx is better than UPS, but I absolutely agree that it should've been delivered today. It may have just missed the cut off on Friday, and then no weekend delivery, but there's no excuse for today. Dang, I know how bummed I was thinking it wasn't going to arrive today when I was refreshing, I'm so sorry!

Congrats!!

Based on how yours will be delivered today, I suppose mine will arrive tomorrow perhaps, even though it still says Friday 12/4

Yeah the arrival at the sort facility is jusssssttt a little too late. I would absolutely expect delivery tomorrow. Congrats!! My official scheduled time didn't update until it was on the vehicle for delivery so don't let that worry you.

Just got an email (and text message) from Apple stating that my delivery might arrive later than originally planned, i.e., after Thursday :(
@Apfelchips I just got an email from apple too. My delivery might be delayed... no new date. Just that it might be delayed.
When you open your order on apple.de, does it also say „kommt demnächst an“?

Are all orders shipped from China, or do some come directly from regional warehouses?

I asked over Chat and got this reply, but it's clearly incorrect.

If you think the 13-inch MacBook Pro has great speakers, you should check out the 16-inch's speakers, it's even better! Trust me, I know because I also own the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

I’m so angry right now.

I ordered my M1 Macbook Pro 16/2TB on Nov 11th, received the shipping notification email from Apple on Nov 25th (Happy Turkey Day!) - no Bank charges on a Holiday? - the $ was taken from my account around 1:30am on the 26th.

The original 1st FedEx estimated delivery was Dec 7th, and right now on Nov 28th the FedEx estimated delivery is Dec 2nd by 12 noon.

The Macbook Pro is sitting in a FedEx sorting facility about 15 min from me right now and arrived there about 12 hours ago...

FedEx has been doing an amazing job by delivering 2-3 days early for China shipments for the past six+ months so I am hopeful that at least the Dec 2nd date will happen.

Don't lose hope. My Fedex tracking had shown a Monday delivery even though my MBA arrived locally early morning on a Friday. Around 1pm on Friday, my tracking updated that it was loaded for delivery - I got it 3:30pm that Friday. All that to say....my experience is that they want to move packages out as soon as they can. They just don't update the tracking until it actually moves to the next step.
Yup, my FedEx scheduled delivery was Dec 2 at 12 noon, now it's Nov 30 at 12 noon, this morning!! :)

Did you expand the travel history in the FedEx interface? My Macbook has been sitting in the FedEx sorting facility 15 minutes from me for the last couple of days, then all of a sudden I received 2 texts - I signed up for Email/Text Updates for this package in the FedEx interface - and it's due here in a few hours:

Ordered: Nov 11, 5PM PST
Original Est Delivery: Dec 4, then Nov 16, then Dec 7, then Dec 2, then Nov 30, now delivery window pending...
Status: IN TRANSIT On FedEx vehicle for delivery
Scheduled delivery: Monday 11/30/2020 by 12:00 pm

Update: 10 minutes later...

"The estimated delivery time window for your shipment is no longer available. You will receive an update if the time window becomes available."

I've gotten these "retractions" often during the pandemic, never before this year have I seen so many changes - almost every delivery.

I used to work as onsite tech support and from these days, I can recall that FedEx/UPS would start their delivery routes no earlier than 10 am, hence why you won't see a shipment arriving prior to 10 am in most situations.

Yup, it does depend on where you are in proximity to the FedEx "lot", I had one behind the Airport and I was on the other side, so 10:00 am - 10:30 am was the usual time. Then I had a FedEx depot about 6 blocks down the same main street, and we would get deliveries at 8:30 am - 9:00 am.

Now it's usually 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm, pretty much what I am expecting today.

Let's see what FedEx manages to do today :)
