Well those of us that had a scan in Shanghai yesterday, if you believe it was because there was flight from Shanghai to Tokyo, the first flight from Tokyo to AK since then lands in a few hours 🤞
Also, the first two flights in like 36 hours are landing at Shanghai right now. (How did I become the new @Gnattu of this thread?)

Did you expand the travel history in the FedEx interface? My Macbook has been sitting in the FedEx sorting facility 15 minutes from me for the last couple of days, then all of a sudden I received 2 texts - I signed up for Email/Text Updates for this package in the FedEx interface - and it's due here in a few hours:

Scheduled delivery:
Monday 11/30/2020 by 12:00 pm
  • Monday , 11/30/2020
    7:44 am
    SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA
    On FedEx vehicle for delivery
  • 7:38 am
    SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA
    At local FedEx facility
  • Saturday , 11/28/2020
    5:56 am
    SAN FRANCISCO, CA
    At destination sort facility
Update: 10 minutes later...

"The estimated delivery time window for your shipment is no longer available. You will receive an update if the time window becomes available."

I've gotten these "retractions" often during the pandemic, never before this year have I seen so many changes - almost every delivery.
It says Processing on the Apple Order Status page.

I don't even think it's hit a shipper, yet. I keep checking my FedEx/UPS for any indication, but there is nothing.

Ha! I just got a FedEx page refresh update that says: Estimated: 9:15am - 10:25 am, right now it's 10:24 am :)

here's a snapshot from my phone:
Fedex delivery estimate .JPG

Nothing. It's now gone from the page...

Update: Another SMS update, delivery scheduled for 11/30 by 12:00pm... I've received 2 of those today, the last one at 10:46am.

Those of us in the “The Departed” group, the plane that is landing in Anchorage in ~45 minutes is the same plane that landed in Tokyo from Shanghai. I’m guessing our packages were never unloaded from the plane when it stopped at NRT, and that’s why we haven’t had a scan.

I've been meaning to mention this, my own history showed my Macbook was in Shanghait 2x for extended periods - with a brief stop in between in Anchorage, then it went on to Memphis before San Francisco, my area. IDK if the package was really going all of those places, or if it was partially Customs electronic management?

It seems odd to fly all the way from Shanghai to Anchorage and then back to Shanghai then to Memphis - was Memphis the first real physical change of location, or was that San Francisco before my Macbook finally left the plane? - the times/timing looks odd to me:

To add on to this, this same plane has a flight to Louisville about 4 hours after it lands in Anchorage. We should see an update sometime tonight or tomorrow.

I took to Twitter to try and get more info about why my Laptop is going to sit in a warehouse for 4 days, here’s their reply after getting my info:

Yeah, my wife deals with this sort of stuff in her job and the way she explains it is this. The carriers UPS/FedEx etc, are not interested in getting things to you as fast as possible. They will deliver it to you as fast as the level of service the shipper paid for, and that's it. So if there is a set delivery date, you shouldn't plan on getting it before then.

That's the way it "used to be", and how I've heard it from FedEx for many years, but now during the Pandemic, the carriers have effectively changed their premium services to "get it there as fast as the equipment will carry it because we have "more stuff" waiting behind it".

FedEx was backed up (along with DHL and UPS) in Shanghai and Hong Kong a few times early on in the pandemic - I was directed to use FedEx while DHL was backed up for 2 weeks on the docks in HK, and then to use DHL while FedEx was delayed a week.

Now I get FedEx estimates at least 2-3 days further out than I actually receive my goods. UPS is still right on schedule, never early, rarely late - and not by much, usually minutes. DHL is crazy fast these days. I received one shipment on a Monday that was shipped from China on a Friday!

I've heard that the carriers are under the direction of the US Govt to not delay or leave anything idle to allow the important packages to move fast - and it seems they couldn't easily differentiate between "important" and "regular shipping" at their premium levels so they run it all at the same immediate service delivery.

IMHO, only from personal experience and observation over the last 9 months. :)

I’m so angry right now.
Damn dude that's total bulls***, I'd be livid. Just sitting there collecting dust cause they couldn't be bothered to put it on the truck. I hope that's not the case and that warehouse is actually just swamped from Black Friday/cyber Monday purchases, maybe they have a backlog of items that have scheduled delivery dates for now. But that really f***** sucks dude. Hang in there, at least your scheduled date is tomorrow, and not the 4th like it was for some of us. If your FedEx is waiting for the official date, then they would've been sitting on it till the 4th too and while all those days are weekdays would've been a hell of a lot worse. Today is your last computer-less day, without a doubt. No guessing, no hoping it comes early, nothing. it's scheduled to be there tomorrow, and it's already at your location and will be. Could be a lot worse. I totally get why you're pissed, just saying moving forward you're in a good position.
I used to work as onsite tech support and from these days, I can recall that FedEx/UPS would start their delivery routes no earlier than 10 am, hence why you won't see a shipment arriving prior to 10 am in most situations.
I've had several deliveries in the past 2 months come as early as 8:30am,

Your flight from Narita (the same plane that took of from PVG) just landed in Anchorage! Keep your eyes peeled for an update soon, but it's possible you might not get one until Louisville because the same flight is scheduled to depart for Lousville at 2:48PM AKST (in 4 hours time).
If the Shanghai departed packages are really on this flight then there is a chance that Apple's delivery date of 12/1 (in the "shipped" email) could still be met or at least the original delivery window of Nov 27 - Dec 4 despite sitting around Shanghai for over a week. Hopefully we will know soon. However, it is curious that scheduled delivery is still marked as unavailable.

They probably won’t schedule a delivery till it’s on the delivery truck. If they really did land in Anchorage and are going to Louisville it’s very much possible we could have them tomorrow, or at they very latest sometime this week.

My UPS status is still the same 😔.

I called Apple this morning to ask for them to open up an investigation. The agent on the phone was really nice and did it right away. She stated that she has heard many other calls stating the same issue. She told me that they will do an investigation with UPS by contacting them to locate the package. I should receive some type of update within 3 business days on the investigation. She will get the process going to try and get a replacement sent out to me as soon as possible.

She told me to let everyone on the forum know that they should call Apple so they can get things situated for them and they will work hard to figure out what is going on with UPS/Shanghai.

I only received an email from Apple stating that they are looking into my package being late.

My Air is currebtly at “Order in Progress.” Will I get notified when it moves past this? The next step is “Shipping?”

My Air is also at "Order in Progress" state. I have ordered from Apple.com previously and yes, you will get an email from Apple once your Air is shipped with the tracking number in the email.

Was the status before this order placed? Mine says "Order in Progress" I don't recall what the status was before this earlier today.
