Finally got through after another hour on hold. I was told 'something' happened with the shipment, and with it being custom configured (16GB RAM) it was decided to build those units again with the goal of that being faster than trying to fix whatever problem the first order had. The December 22nd ship date is a placeholder that all orders on the 'new' order date (in my case, 11/27) would have gotten. But, because of that issue we should be at the 'front of the line.'

Based on that, his estimate was that within another day or two I should get a new 'your order has shipped' email with a new tracking number, and that shipping will be something faster than standard shipping. So, while it says 12/22 now, once that new machine is built and in their system we'll get new tracking numbers and that shipping estimate should jump up. I got all of the usual caveats that they can't promise anything or ship dates, but that was the latest guidance I got. He offered that I can call back again in a couple days, but until the new unit is built/in their system the information they see is just about the same as what we can see. They get more details once the unit has been created/assigned to an order.

Hopefully will see the ship date jump up in the next day or two. Fingers crossed they bump it up to overnight shipping as well.
That is really useful - thanks! Curious why I got a new delivery estimate of Jan 4, whereas you got Dec 22 - which sounds a lot better (i.e. in time for the holidays).

I can only hope that what you reported that we should go "to the front of the line" turns out to be true. When I looked at how long it would take for a completely new order, I got almost the same date (Jan 5)....very much "the back of the line".

Ordered mine on the 25... just plan on forgetting about it

Looks like UPS flight 128 took of a while ago from Tokyo Narita and it's another one of those flights with no filed destination, like a lot of the recent Shanghai flights have been. It seems to be heading in Shanghai's general direction. @Gnattu @Kalae What do you think? Could this be another flight to Shanghai? The UPS128 flight number has no visible history on the free version of FlightAware.

So is a 20 day period from placing the order to shipping normal? Any other BTO mini orders wanna weigh in?
Can confirm. I ordered 16/512GB Mini on 11/16 (14 days) still in Processing status. My order shows 12/16-12/23 delivery date. Guess we'll see.

The Airline only has Shanghai-Tokyo History, but it is suspended since Nov 17.
We will have a very high chance that will come to Shanghai.
Although the lock down period sucked, the frequency of flights after returning to normal is quite impressive.

We have many options for rescue from Shanghai then. Even if we didn't make it on to UPS91 or UPS11 it's very likely we make it onto the return flight of this aircraft, I think. If 11/21 shipments made it out on the first Narita flight, and then the shipments between ours and the 11/21 shipments probably used UPS91 and UPS11. Ours were shipped late 11/20 so we should be next in line.

Picked up a base model M1 MBA (8/7 core, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage) from B&H for the wife, they're running a pretty killer deal for $899, free 2-day shipping and depending on your state, possibly no tax (so $899 to your door).

Replacing a 2015 MBP 15", I thought I was going to trade into Apple, but I hadn't inspected in it a while, it's all swollen, works perfectly, but that's obviously an issue. It qualifies for an extended warranty battery replacement, but not sure what they'll do now.

Anyway, can't wait to check out the new machine, I'm on deck for a Mini replacement, but waiting for the next gen (M1X/M1X, M2 ...) and a 32GB option with 4-6 ports :)

Yeah, and that's the point. Every flight to PVG is a hope. The most horrible thing last week was that there was not even one flight to Shanghai and all of us did not even see the possibility that our Macs can leave Shanghai until that 767 from Tokyo.

Looks like Shanghai to me

I just hope anyone gets a scan in Louisville in tonight. If no one does that seems like a bad sign for both Shanghai groups.
But the departure scan can't be faked, (I hope so). So at least your package has left Shanghai if you have a departure scan.
No longer stuck in Shanghai is already a good enough sign to me, it won't take too long for UPS handle these packages in areas operating normally.

I ordered a 16/512 Mac mini on 11/13 and it's finally shipped, via UPS, with a scheduled delivery of 12/4. It's currently in Hong Kong.

Order Placed: 11/13 (Delivery window of 12/15-12/22)
Card Charged: 11/26
Shipped: 11/30
Scheduled Delivery: 12/4

I have an IDENTICAL ORDER and have identical delivery dates. Mac Mini 16GB ordered on 11/13, originally scheduled for a 12/15 - 12/22 delivery. Delivery date was then changed to 12/8, and now it has just been changed to 12/4.

I would certainly hope that it couldn’t be faked. If it were The Departed would have 0 idea where our packages are.

Really hoping the rest of shanghai gang gets picked up soon, and that some of us get scans in Louisville tonight.

Anyone here from Australia who have ordered the new mac and have received it already? I've ordered the Pro 16gb and 512GB with an ETA of 23 Dec.

Has anyone that experienced the 11/24 5pm "Package is delayed in transit. delivery will be rescheduled." had their package advance past that point? Mine is still stuck there. I called UPS today, and they said no packages are leaving China currently due to a Covid incident and they can't provide an ETA as to when it will depart. From the google docs sheet it looks like some packages did leave on the 29th? Not clear if those were stuck in Shanghai.

Ahh, xdan, welcome to #ShanghaiGang. Looks like you are #ShanghaiGang1, and your order was probably shipped on 11/20. We are all now patiently waiting on flight UPS128 to land in Shanghai, which is really close right now, and then for the return flight to be scheduled and take off back to Tokyo-Narita, which will hopefully rescue our packages from Shanghai. That's why we're keeping our eyes peeled for a tracking update then. Once we are out of Shanghai, it shouldn't take too long to get to your destination - 48 hours is about how long it takes.

The packages that left Shanghai on the 29th had the exact same tracking status before they left. 11/24, 5pm, "Package is delayed in transit. Delivery will be rescheduled." They were able to make it out on a Narita flight yesterday and should be arriving in Lousiville shortly.

UPS128 is VERY close to Shanghai. Unfortunately, without UPS formally filing a destination, Flightradar24 has no estimation on when it will land. @Gnattu, do you have any estimation? And roughly how long did it take between the previous flights landing in Shanghai and the return flights being scheduled / departing back for NRT, KIX, and ICN?

Mac Mini 16GB/256GB - Ordered on 11/17. Still processing and UPS “track by reference” doesn’t show anything.

Anybody with similar orders have theirs shipped recently?

It is starting to kill altitude, very likely the movement preparing for landing.

I answered the latter of my questions by looking at aircraft history on Flightradar24. Looks like UPS flights 109, 11, and 91 took about 3 hours between landing in Shanghai and then departing again for NRT, ICN, and KIX.
