Ordered a 2020 M1 MBP 16GB/2TB on Nov 11, it finally arrived at my local FedEx facility (about 30 min drive) on Nov 27 at 7:50AM. The entire time it’s been listed as Scheduled Delivery on Dec 1 by Noon, and I’m still not seeing any update other than it’s still at my local facility. So maddening.

keep updating mine shows out for deliver now but it didn’t until 8:18am. If it still doesn’t call them and ask. Then if they claim it’ll arrive and it missed noon call back and complain.

Lot of them received the email saying there will be an Apple Charter flight.
But not all of them. Everyone here has the exception I believe.

my best guess is that Apple is sending employees to get the packages and hand deliver them to their Apple charter flight. The reason some may not get any tracking updates could be related to a replacement order. My guess those replacement orders took priority over the old and Apple flagged the old ones for recovery to stop those ones from continuing to be shipped since we all know Apple wont send people an extra free laptop when it was never missing but instead was just stuck from covid. Those people might be stuck in a double limbo where it’s to late to cancel it and get the original order so they have to wait on the new one to ship.

yeah the lack of communication is really frustrating. It’s not really hard to post a short article about what’s going on.
I don't think Apple or UPS will do such a thing. Sayings it because of a COVID outbreak at the airport would cause someone people to refuse to accept that laptop even though there is no proof that COVID is transmitted through shipping.

I agree. It sucks, but it's par for 2020 course. I don't think this situation is is giving anyone warm fuzzy feelings and if there was a way they could give more info they would. Only thing to do is wait and let things sort out. Based on how the iphone shipments went charter from China with UPS, I would imagine they will start to show up at people's houses by Monday at the latest.

Yeah - too bad there wasn't more info this whole time. I'm not really in a hurry (no more than everyone is when a new-shiny-thing is coming), but you just want to feel like it's being handled.

I contacted FedEx support on Twitter again, asking them if I can still expect delivery within the next few hours. Was told “they’re still doing their morning sort and your package is still on schedule for delivery today”. Shortly after that convo I checked tracking history again, and Huzzah!! It could be here any minute lol

And my Canon IP4950 not installing... quick fix by using my QNAP NAS but alas the CD print function doesn’t work...

That was before I thought I’d be clever and “clean” it!!

Usually how long an order stay in the statut "prepared to shipping" does anyone knows ?
Mine went to "preparing for shipping" yesterday at the same time as yours and has not shipped yet.

edit one minute later: it has just been shipped when I was writing this post lmao
However, I did not get any tracking info or email, just saw that status has changed on apple.com. Estimated delivery time is gone from apple.com too.

edit 11 minutes later: It is shipped by DHL from Eindhoven, estimated delivery 11th December by Apple, no delivery estimation from DHL yet.

I finally find away to get into a more detailed view and can confirm my exception reason is waiting for Charter Aircraft.
Went to https://wwwapps.ups.com/mcdp will lead you to the old-tradional UPS My choice page, not the (s****y) new one that removed all useful information.

@captchas8 @jdcohnsf @mooshhie can you guys confirm?

@Gnattu Thank you for this! I have the same exception message and have a “scheduled delivery time” of 12/03 (updated).

Thanks for that link. I also can see a December 7 tentative delivery date, and the charter message. Original ship date 20Nov. MBP M1 16/512

Do you have another mac? If so it is possible to fix it with that using this method:

Ordered on Nov 11, due for delivery today. The package appears to still be stuck in Shanghai (since Nov 21), and when I try to call Apple their auto attendant says no one can talk to me about this order and automatically disconnects the call. Really unimpressed by this situation, especially with the lack of any communication about what's going on with my order. I can handle waiting a bit longer than expected, but at least keep me updated on why the order hasn't moved. It's been 10 days with no update on the tracking, and the order is supposed to be here today!

I’ve seen FedEx drive by my house three times this morning already, not stopping here yet. I feel like a kid waiting for a new Transformer toy or something. It’s so awesome.

Sometimes UPS is better for stalking since you can track the truck and watch it drive around.

Sounds like "ShanghaiGang2". If you look at the right page, we all got a "waiting for Charter Aircraft" update today.

I tried doing that, but it will only let me register my account using an American address. I'm in Canada. For some reason the country selection is greyed out and can't be changed.
You can try register on the main website, then login, then visit this site.

Thankyou but no access to another Mac...

Apple have released Terminal commands and it’s downloading Big Sur into a temp folder... 12 minutes left of download and see if it works!

:)

Yes, if I go to the link recommended by @Gnattu, I also get the Apple Charter reason for the exception. I had to use the link on my iPad. On my phone it kept going to the app or told me that the link did not exist but I persisted and got there on my iPad. And delivery date in this view is listed as 12/07.
