Apple Silicon MacBook Air/Pro Mac mini Order Status Thread

Ordered nov 19. Still processing. Ugh
I ordered on the 22nd, also still processing.

I’m looking for others like myself: base 8/7 MBA, shipping to Canada, dated December 4th–11th. Still at the processing stage—is this because the basic model is very popular? Has anyone successfully ordered this model, and if so, can you tell me about your experience?

I also got the email about Charter Aircraft!

Also, the newest scan date has changed but still shows no info. like others. Unhappy morning :p

I did not have such email, but still got the 12/7 date and now an exception with delayed scan, do you have such scan in 7:54 local time?
Yes - 7:53 local time. Nothing since. I know the communication from UPS and Apple has been nonexistent/confusing/wrong and we are all freaking out, but I am optimistic given the overnight update, the mention of a charter, and the volume of planes going to PVG now. Fingers crossed!

@FreeWoRLD83 any luck? Haven’t gotten the “not out for delivery” update yet but losing hope for an early delivery today!
Finally received mine!

Summary of my order is below for anyone who might need in future. I really hope others get theirs asap as well.

MBA 8/7 16/256

Order Date : Nov 15
Delivery Est (Original) : Dec 9 - 16
Actual Delivery : Dec 1

Yes, if I go to the link recommended by @Gnattu, I also get the Apple Charter reason for the exception. I had to use the link on my iPad. On my phone it kept going to the app or told me that the link did not exist but I persisted and got there on my iPad. And delivery date in this view is listed as 12/07.
When is the charter flight? Is it even today? Will we get notified with a departure update? And how will we figure out the flight number? Honestly at this point I'd rather have our packages ship out on one of the many regular flights that UPS is running, because we'd pretty much get it within 48-72 hours of it shipping out of Shanghai instead of waiting for a charter flight, and the flights would be easily trackable.

I finally find away to get into a more detailed view and can confirm my exception reason is waiting for Charter Aircraft.
Went to https://wwwapps.ups.com/mcdp will lead you to the old-tradional UPS My choice page, not the (s****y) new one that removed all useful information.

@captchas8 @jdcohnsf @mooshhie can you guys confirm?

Thanks for the link - I can see the same message. I didn't receive the email either.

In fact, if you use a device with a screen that is big enough, you can choose your country and language on the top. Change that to another country other than US (but keep English), e.g. Japan or China, you will see this view. When you use your phone, you need to request desktop site and the country selection is hidden in the menu button (the three-line button on the top right).

I am beginning to think that our packages got caught in Customs when the COVID issue hit the airport. There was a scan for being at the clearing agency on Nov 21 then basically nothing until the Nov 24 delay. Perhaps the departing facility scan was leaving Customs and going to a "backlog" location until they figured out what to do with it. Presumably we will never know. I am assuming that the regular flights are all full with "current" packages.

Thanks. Luckily I got it to work on iPad. I was following things from bed where I should have been sleeping but got caught up in the ongoing situation - thus the use of my phone.

The only reason why Apple would choose the charter flight is to have control over their packages. Apple made duplicate orders for laptops that were stuck in the covid plane quarantine and ups was not about to go through their plane searching for labels on computers that need to be pulled. Once Apple has the product and control of it they will pull the laptops that were reordered then ship the rest. My best guess is Apple is flying them to their country origin and then they will be back in ups hands for the rest of the delivery. I’d only be concerned if you had a duplicate order placed because that means your waiting on the new shipment and not this one anymore.

There is no way Apple made duplicate orders. The system just isn't set up for something like that and would affect many more orders in the future than just this group by delaying the production line. Also at this point the packages are not co-mingling with the "general population" at UPS. The Apple orders are wrapped in pallets together and are not individually scanned, but are instead part of a manifest. They clear customs together and get departure/arrival scans automatically based on the timestamps of the plane the manifest is registered to. They won't be separated out until they get to Louisville.

Charter flight here means that Apple will be loading out an entire plane with nothing but Apple orders so the schedule of the flight may not be part of the normal routes. It will leave when it is full. If the manifests are properly registered, the departure scan on the tracking page should match the flight departure time.

Disclaimer: it's only a speculation

The aircraft B-1340 is currently on ground in PVG, landed 12hrs ago, a cargo plane. Suparna Airlines does have charter service(even the local government uses their carter to deliver). I think this might be our charter.

I just received text message from UPS stating that my package from Apple has been rescheduled for 12/7. This is the first text I have received from UPS regarding this package since the initial shipping text on 11/21. Good or bad news?

I'd say neutral. Most of us show 12/7 online after we got the new exception status today.

Small update, but not really? Recently my order changed from
Processing: "We have everything necessary to complete your order. We’ll update your delivery date when your order is preparing to ship."
to
Processing: "As soon as the item is ready, we’ll send you an update."

All I can say is, about time, after 18 days of waiting.

As an additional question for everyone here, I’ve been unable to select “express delivery” on my last two Apple purchases (M1 MBA and 2020 iPad Air), but for some reason was able to get my 2020 iPhone SE delivered express. Is this a Canada thing? Has anyone else had this problem?

I received multiple 'processing' emails for the same order and was told yesterday by Apple Support that I wouldn't get another update until a new unit was made. The rationale they gave me was that it would be faster for those units than rectifying the issues currently persisting on some orders. So, for those of us who got a second email with the exact same order number, I'm confident they did duplicate orders in this instance. Otherwise, why would I have gotten a second "we've received your order email" over two weeks after my initial order for the same computer, same order number, and a $0 invoice?

I think your situation is not the norm. Did you request a replacement or investigation from Apple? Also, what is your last scan and do you have two tracking numbers? If you do, log in with UPS MyChoice and look at the Reference Numbers. The serial number of the machine will be in there (should start with a C0). Even if you don't yet have two tracking numbers, make note of the first serial number to compare later on to see if you actually get a replacement or the original.

Express delivery means local shipment while standard delivery is from China. I ordered Macbook and a set of adapters, adapters were shipped "express" from local warehouse while laptop got "standard" and is shipped overseas.

If you had ordered a model that is available in Apple Stores in your area, there would be a good chance you would get "Express" delivery.

I asked about an investigation and they said the order had already been flagged and one was ongoing. Last scan is still "In Transit" Shanghai 11/20, no updates. Still just have the original tracking number. Good heads up on the serial number. Snagged that and will look back whenever a unit gets delivered.

That makes sense. My Apple Watch Series 6 was standard shipping and that came from China. I ordered a LG 4K Monitor earlier in the year from Apple and that was express and shipped local. My MBA is showing express so it should be shipping local too.

Grrr! Waited in all day for my delivery only to get an text message from Apple saying my "shipment may have been delayed". When I click the DHL tracking link I'm shown that my MBP is sat in Exeter (25 miles away). It's been there since 10:30 this morning (9 hours).

This is the worst delivery experience I have ever had with Apple in over 20 years.
