Hello, I've waited weeks to get my thermal camera to fix my short on nand rail...

I lost a component on macbook air m4, the layout is different from m3 schematics and idk what to do...

It's a black 201, it has to be a resistor (could be ferrite bead but less likely). I have a complete set of 201 resistors but idk what value I need since I don't have m4 air schematics.

It was the last 201 component I needed to solder back and it popped off my tweezers ...

Sorry it posted another message while editing, can't delete...

If someone has an open m4 air, could you please measure the value of this resistor on ohm mode? (no need to unsolder, you can get an accurate value even if it's soldered on the board)

It would REALLY help me!! 🙏

Hey guys! Can anyone confirm that macbook air m4 a3240 can use 2x K5A4 512gb configuration? I tried to use preprogrammed kit from a2941 board, from a3112 and two «blank» k5a4. Also tried to preprogram it in luban h7 with mac mini m4 data. Every time restore ends with 35 error. In case of preprogrammed k5a4 I see «This NAND configuration has incompatible packages» string in log. When I try to restore with 2 «blank» k5a4 it shows «This configuration is not supported on this device».

But when I put a3240 cpu, sep rom and soc rom to the a3112 board (I know that it is macbook pro, but since it use the same cpu it was fun to know will it work with air cpu) it restores successfully with 2x k5a4. When I put cpu and roms back to a3240 board it fails to restore with k5a4 nands with same 35 error.

So does this configuration work only on mac mini m4 and macbook pro m4 and does not work on macbook air m4?

Does anyone have a BGA315 footprint or dimensional diagram? I've noticed the 256/512/1tb chips are 13.4 x 9.10 mm while the 2TB is 13.40 x 11.20 mm. Other than that, the footprint is electrically the same.

If anyone has the BGA315 spec as a PDF I'd like to look at it and draw it up in cad.

Hi all, so I managed to get the A2337 running using an icloud locked board as a donor. for some reason I couldn't program the nands with the dump from dosdude or my own readings. I made a new dump, will upload as soon as possible.
Meanwhile the A2442 is going to be upgraded from 2TB to 8TB. Already repopulated all the components mentioned on the schematics, confirm that I have the 1.2V, 2.5V and the 0.9V feeding the nands. Received the nands yesterday, read them all and confirmed that are in general state, saved all the dumps, in case something fails and I need to reprogram them, however, when comparing the files (only compared the first two just out of curiosity) they are different.
Reballed and soldered the nands, DFU OK, Apple logo, progress bar and...shutdown. On the console the mac failed to transition from recovery to restoreOS. Removed all the nand thinking that maybe one of them had a bad solder and all of them remained in "general state".
Soldered them back and retried again, same result with or without the battery.

Questions:

1. The fact that they are all in general state, but are different have any influence on the result?
2. I'll confirm if everything is well soldered or if there is something missing, but is more comum to cause this kind of failure?
3. Do I need to populate anything related to the PPBUS ( I just paid attention to what was missing around the nand's LP and the main IC's)
4. If I use a Magsafe 3, the probability of success increase?
5. Should I program all of the nands with the same dump?

If possible, could anyone post an image of a full populated board for the M1 or the M2 as a reference?

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance

Lloydz

I'm having some dificulties to attach the files to the A2337

Regarding the A2442, tried formating the nand to blank them and it gives an error mentioning the jc doesn't have the firmware for this nand, it's the H23b8t85, tried reprogramming with one of the reading and it fails. i'm using the P13, if I use the P15 is there any difference?

MacBook Pro 14 M4Pro 4xK5A5 config not working. Tried 2 china kits of NANDs (Error 35)

4xK5A8 also doesn't work 🙁

Hello community, I have some MBAs M4 for SSD Upgrade. As far as I understand for 1TB the best combination is 2x K5A5, for 2TB: only 2x K8A5.
Did anyone succeed to upgrade A3420/A3421 with 2x K5A8 or its impossible as I saw some older comments?

Hi guys. Is there any news on programming hn3t2d and hn3t3d? I've accumulated a fair amount of these NANDs and would like to use them. I ordered blank chips from my supplier in China and tried to directly read the firmware from them, but when I try to write to a previously used chip, the programmer reports NAND firmware repair failure. The programmer identifies the new chip as general state, while the ones I tried to flash show as hard disk partition incomplete.

I found a water damaged M1 Max A2485 board off eBay for cheap. Looked like minor damage near the touchpad connector on the photos. And the seller didn't say anything about missing SSD pads. Anyway all sorted out after an SoC transplant. Anyone interested can read below.
I have to ask, what kind of soldering equipment do you use to pull this off? 😅

Today tested Sandisk sdsfgklk4 x2 and sdsfgklk8 x2 chip combinations on the MBA A3114, both options turned out to be working.

Are the infos on the main page still actually?

M3 Air A3113 for 2TB -> K6B2 or HN3T3DTG
M3 Pro A2992 for 2TB -> K5A5 or HN3T2DT8
M4 MBP 14" A3112 for 2TB -> K6B2 or K5A8 or SDSFGKLKH

Can someone confirm?

A3113 : 2*K5A8 are ok
A2992 with M3 Pro : 4*K5A5 for 2TB or 4*K5A8 for 4TB
A3112 M4 : 2*SDSFGKLKH for 2TB are ok

Thank you! So for A2992 4TB with K5A8 really works? The table says you need 8 Nands for 4TB
A2992 with M3 Pro has only 4 Nand on the board (same with M4 Pro) so you can obtain 4TB with 4 Nand
BUT
A2992 with M3 Max has a different board with 8 Nand (and M4 Max also): you need 8*512Gb Nand to get 4TB and a lot of work with micro components.

I can confirm that 4x K5A8 will work in A2992. But 2x SDFG will not work in A3112. You will get immediately a short on the 8 caps nearby. Triplechecked. K6B2 will work fine.

You are saying you have shorted SDSF Nand
🙂

Every bga315 nand has same layout. So you have bad chips, it can happen.
I did the upgrade myself, and SDSF works just fine.
