That wouldn't surprise me if that happened LOL. No one cares about Apples computers anymore, it's only the iPod/iPhone that attracts media interest. Apples share prices don't respond to anything the company does regarding it's computers. Ask anyone in the street about Apple and they will ALL refer to the iPod.

Apple need to put their computers back into the spotlight.

I care about Apple computers very much as do millions of other people.

You missed my point, the only people who care about them these days are those that use them. Take a look at how Apple's share price reacts to news or new Apple computer hardware - it doesn't. The iPod on the other hand, the slightest hint that iPod sales are down will cause it to plummet, better sales, and it goes up.

I disagree with that statement. I know tons of people who care about apple computers who dont use them.

I got your point..

You make it sound like all Apple computer owners are stockholders which they are not.I do not base my purchase of an Apple computer on the markets.I do it based on my personal needs.

As do millions of other Mac users.

That comment strikes me as a bit strange. If they don't use any Apple products, then why do they really care.

It's like when NEC shut-down Packard Bell sales here in the states. I didn't use Packard Bell computers, so I didn't care the slightest whether they existed or not.

Or, how about music. I don't listen to Eminem, Britney Spears, or Justin Timberlake. I know they exist. But, if they stopped performing tomorrow, it wouldn't really mean much to me.

If I don't use something, I really couldn't care less if it exists or not.

Perhaps I'm missing something in your statement. But, it just sounds odd as it was stated.

Just because you don't own or use something doesn't mean you can't still be interested in it.

Here's an example; I don't drive luxury cars or high-end sports cars, and not only that, I probably would never be able to afford one. But I still like reading about them, to see what new stuff they are doing, what new ideas they introduce, etc. I like to go to auto shows, etc. even though I myself only drive a Toyota Corolla.

I think it's like this with Apple computers as well. Even people who don't personally own or use them are still interested in seeing what new stuff they come up with (if for no other reason than that people have begun to figure out that what Apple is doing today is very likely going to influence the PC's of tomorrow).

I'd think they'd care about Apple because of the innovations that they'll eventually provide users of products from other companies. We all know that there are spies and that things are copied as necessary, whether bad or good, it all benefits consumers.

Besides that, many people find Apple products of interest but they're bound to Windows in the worst way because of business.

come up with (if for no other reason than that people have begun to figure out that what Apple is doing today is very likely going to influence the PC's of tomorrow).

That's a fair reason.

Apple need to put their computers back into the spotlight.

I'd really like to see that. I am ready to upgrade, I'll have the money shortly (already have a decent chunk of it). But, currently cannot find a machine in their product line that fits me right.

Some new product introductions are necessary. Mac Pro is beyond my needs, iMac would fit my needs if it didn't have a built-in screen and could be easily opened to clean out the dust regularly (have pets), and the Mac Mini is ridiculously too little for my tasks.

Yes, I know you can open an iMac. But, the way it's designed is not such that you would open it every other week to blow the dust out. At least I could do that with the old iMac G5. But, the new ones are not designed for that. And, unfortunately, after too many rounds with the iMac G5, it's gone on to other places (I couldn't use it because it was always breaking down and in the shop).

So, I sit at my humble G4 awaiting something that fits my needs.

Apple needs a good mid-range system that doesn't include a monitor and can be easily opened. Having 2 years of dust in a machine is not a recipe for longevity. And, paying to have the dust removed is just plain crazy.

I would like to see computers come back to the forefront. I miss the wide product range that they used to offer before Steve returned.

so....

if there really is a february 20th event...hypothetically speaking...would we see a change on the apple website at midnight cuz it's technically tomorrow or will they not update it until sometime later because of a time difference or for whatever reason

There is no event. It would be updated around 6-7 MST.

You never know, Apple is pretty spontaneous... Some say this event will happen on the 28th.

well...no surprise there but i think i might as well just go buy my mbp...im tired of waiting

Note that if you are waiting for a new laptop, it would never be coming out now. Apple cannot release a major new update to the portable line until the Santa Rosa platform becomes available in May.

I'm having difficulties accessing the apple store... Is this a sign of things to come? :D (heh i highly doubt it but we'll see...)

Well if there is nothing tomorrow people will say wait we meant the 28th and over and over agin till there finally right or atleast close, or people will just accept it and move on

I don't know much about Apple's history so... Why did Steve Jobs get fired again from the company that HE started????

He lost a power struggle with John Sculley and the Apple board, and was essentially forced out (which led him to go and found NeXT, and also buy the company that became Pixar). This had to do with industry-wide problems affecting Apple, and also layoffs at the company. They remove him as the head of the Macintosh unit, and Jobs left (I'm not sure that he was ever officially "fired" though), and sold all but one of his shares in the company.

This kind of thing (a company founder being forced out of their own company) isn't all that uncommon.

I do know this much. The :apple: TV uses Front Row 2.0. and People will start receiving them around March 1st-5th..
Something is going to happen.Eventwise before that. It's only logical.

Not meaning to dispute you, but where does it say that the :apple: TV's firmware is in fact Front Row 2.0?
