Smart move Apple!!

Google comes out with the googlephone Jan. 5th. while CES is Jan. 7th-10th.

This gives Apple the ability to allow all those folks to show their wares then BOOM! Show them what it has.

BOOM!

Apple normally has an event near the very beginning of the year and this multi-week delay is notable. The announcement of a product which will not even be available till mid-year is more notable. Dude, you coulda had a Dell [puff-puff].

The Apple Tablet Funding Bill is Passed
The Tablet begins to sell at a geometric rate...

I hope not. If he does, AAPL will plunge. I'm not saying that Apple needs steve or else, I'm saying stock holders think that.
If he is one of the greatest CEOs of the decade then he should already have a fairly good plan in place to make sure that doesn't happen. After all, his primary job is to look after the shareholders' interest. I just can't imagine what such a plan could be, however.

Woohoo! New 30" LCD monitors!

...

wait, what's this "tablet" thing you guys are speaking about? Who on earth would want such a doodad?

Raiders of the Lost Tablet

Brody: Oh, yes. Ballmer speaks of the Tablet leveling marketplaces and laying waste to entire product lines. A CEO which carries the Tablet before him... is invincible... [ominously]

The beginning of the tablet age.

No more notebooks by 2015. All tablet. You read it here first.

I really like the "MacBook Touch". Fits very well with their naming conventions.

Tablet is associated too much with Microsoft products.

I'd like them to repurpose 'iBook' for this tablet. E-reader functionality is going to be a big selling point I'd think, so naturally 'iBook' should fit well. :)

Has Apple confirmed that they are attending CES? Are they attending Macworld (I heard "no")?

I don't care as much about the tablet as I do new MBPs. :-/

I just want a new Apple TV...:( The hardware is SO outdated...not that I won't buy the tablet the day it comes out.;)

They are not attending CES. It makes no sense. Plus, we'd know by now.

They are not attending Macworld.

Tradeshows are dinosaurs. Apple is right in deciding not to go to these.

They get more bang for their buck by throwing their own product announcement events. Two hours having practically every major tech journalist and blogger focused entirely on Apple.

You have to compete with too many other companies at big shows like CES, Macworld, NAB, E3, etc. for attention.

Apple doesn't have to anymore. They can send an e-mail a week in advance saying, "Be here at 10am PST next Tuesday" and the journalists book their travel immediately.

I'm pretty sure Apple are going to be at CES.

That sucks. This event sounds like it will only be an announcement for the tablet. I want MBP announcements. :-/ I'm really, really ready to trash my Dell!

I want a new MacBook Pro so so Bad. In fact, I already sold the one I am using today to someone :)
