My status updates seem to universally come the morning after everyone else's do, for whatever reason. Which is something to look forward to every morning, but frustrating with no news all day long. =S

For those that are tracking, does UPS list a weight for the package?

I'm just curious as I'm using a Mail forwarding service to have a 16GB WiFi sent to Canada, and I want to have a rough idea for shipping costs.

Thanks!

1.40 Kgs

Apple must've known you were all trying to track your package (even the flight!) and now my UPS order no longer lists the Louisville stop. It "appears" as though it is still in china.

My 16GB WiFi is listed as a shipping weight of 1.40 Kgs.

Also, my exception has been cleared but now I only show the Shenzhen origin scan instead of Louisville.

Shipping

My iPad is still showing "Prepared for Shipment" and I ordered when delivery was still for 4/3. Do you think it will arrive in time?

An update

I was showing an exception for Kentucky before that information disappeared and went back to showing only the origin scan in China. However, at the moment, I'm showing a new exception at my local UPS hub for "UPS Internal Activity." I got curious and did a brief search for the exception code and found a couple hits. A few people who got this exception called UPS and were told by UPS that the vendor had requested that the shipment information be masked. As secretive as Apple is, I wouldn't put it past them to do this. However, I'd really like to think that

ROCKHILL, SC, US 03/31/2010 9:00 A.M. UPS INTERNAL ACTIVITY

means my iPad is 20 minutes away :p

finally...got...tracking...number...

and, updating iTunes to new version that is iPad compatible right now!

In the words of Gollum, "my precious"

It's 9 miles away!

Oh man, it's at my local UPS warehouse 9 miles from my home and is listed as an exception again, UPS INTERNAL ACTIVITY.

The verdict is in:

The iPad really is magical. According to my tracking information, it's capable of traveling to the future.

RICHMOND, VA, US 03/31/2010 9:00 A.M. UPS INTERNAL ACTIVITY

It's currently 11:36 P.M. on 03/30/2010.

I'm showing the exact same "exception" here in New Jersey too. It's an exception for 10 hours into the future!

It's got to be the hold they've been talking about. I just like seeing my city in the location (even if it isn't really there). Makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

Hrm, yeah it's now showing start of business tomorrow in my city.

C'mon, does it REALLY have to sit, unopened for nearly 4 days? Sigh.

It just feels like a big tease. If it indeed will be at the UPS hub at 9:00 AM tomorrow (Wednesday), they could feasibly deliver it by Thursday. But I'm guessing that Apple won't let that happen.

I am willing to bet that one of the top 10 views on Youtube Friday will be someone "unboxing their iPad a day early".

it is highly unlikely that UPS would violate the 'not before Saturday' contract with Apple. They have probably sent out word that any employee that even tries to get cute and deliver/release a package early will be dismissed on the spot. Apple is a huge money maker for such companies, they aren't going to mess with that.

What does the "Internal UPS Activity" mean? I have my origin scan in china now... but nothing else.

I agree with you more than I believe what the rep told me. It's just crazy that they are so clueless about it.

Wow. wonder how much money UPS is burning up answering all of these phone calls from people who were told it would deliver on 4/3 but want to find out otherwise or whether UPS has Sat delivery.

Likewise how long it will take for the concept to percolate through the call centers of "What the heck are all these Apple customers folks freaking out over. " LOL.

It is not crazy. Normally, when folks ship a package they don't tell UPS to slow down and deliver it later. The normal mode is to speed up (or deliver on time) package delivery if they can. (e.g., get it in in the morning so gets out that night, make the cut off time for getting on that day's plane , etc. )

Similarly, UPS handles 100's of thousands of packages per day. What Apple is a smaller bubble moving through their global logistics system relative to everything that is going on. It is a big job and Apple is probably paying extra for this, but no reason to send out some broadcast email to the whole company about some special deal. Delivering packages is what they do.

Update... Kinda

Okay, Last night is said Internal Activity where I live, but it disappeared this morning!
