That's fine and all. I just think the craziness and hype that people generate reflects poorly on the community and where a lot of stereotypes come from. I'm excited about the iPad but it's not the foremost thing on my mind, I don't understand how it can be for anyone else unless they have no job, no wife, no kids, no other interests, etc.

Just my 2 cents.

Because when you buy an expensive item half the fun is generated by the looking forward to it coming, the anticipation is part and parcel of the package isnt it??
For you to say we dont bother about jobs and kids and husbands in my case is just not nice and just comes over as being jealous.
I love my husband and I am sure that he would be largely disappointed if I was not jumping up and down in excitement after just spending such a large amount of money on this gadget.

Anyone's say this now?

LOUISVILLE, KY, US 03/29/2010 11:18 A.M. UPS INTERNAL ACTIVITY

I'm not concerned but curious.

on the phone with Apple on this now...they are missing Faxes on all of their orders for customs purposes...this is causing hang ups on the shipment side of things and Apple has not heard about any of this....evidently UPS cant release any of these yet without those faxes

I agree. I think what it all boils down to is likes and dislikes. I don't appreciate being judged for liking a particular subject and I would never judge someone else for liking something that was not foremost on my priorities list. To each his own...I mean whats the big deal...we are all excited about this and why wouldn't we be?

Okay apparently Apple is telling me that they just found out about this and UPS is missing important paperwork to release these items for shipment. A majority of people that preordered and got shipping info this morning are seeing this message and its not a big deal...its just a matter of Apple providing the proper paperwork to UPS...they are in process of taking care of this now. They still forsee these to be delivered by April 3rd.

I can almost hear Yakety Sax playing in Cupertino.

I hope this isn't another repeat of customs thinking that "Apple" means fruit..... Mine still shows in China.

Of course my wife has suddenly decided that she wants us to go away this weekend, typical passive aggressiveness of people who just don't get it.:(

I'm glad I got my computer repaired now so I was able to get it back before the super geeks over-ran the Apple store and caused me to have to wait days. Happened with the iphone release.

Does anyone know about delivery time on Saturday, Fedex Sat delivery is usually by 10:00AM?

April 5th in Boston? I'm in Philly and do get Sat delivery. I wonder if it depends on how close you are to the local central shipping office.

Isn't there a way to type in your Zip Code somewhere with UPS to see if they do Saturday Delivery?

Can't be sure the accuracy of this but you can try this:

1) Go here:
https://wwwapps.ups.com/ctc/request?loc=en_US&WT.svl=PNRO_L1
2) Select the option: Quick Time and Cost (Package)
3) In the From, enter some zip code: 90210
4) In the To, enter your zip code
5) Select Residential Address
6) For the When Are You Shipping? dropdown, select Friday April 2nd. This is to force the system to calculate for a Saturday delivery
7) Enter something like 3lbs

On the results screen you will either see delivery as being available for Saturday, or if not, it will show Monday.

As an example, I took a major zip code (Boston - 02210) and tested. It showed Saturday delivery.

Then I took a far away zip code (Caribou, Maine - 04736 - this is WAAAY up in Maine), and it did NOT show Saturday delivery.

Take it for what it's worth....but you can try it for yours and see.

They don't put Apple on the packaging anymore. Everything's shipped out as A.I. (Apple, Inc), and should just be declared by the shipper as computer hardware, so shouldn't be an issue anymore. Not that it happened often before, but still…

has nothing to do with how close you live (I live 10 minutes away from a shipping hub) to a UPS location but what UPS is showing as estimated receiving dates on their side because of customs...I get Saturday deliver all the time from UPS. Not sure I believe their estimated receiving dates though

Like someone else posted, I'm getting this in my UPS tracking information:

THE SERVICE SELECTED IS NOT AVAILABLE TO THE DESTINATION ADDRESS / DOWNGRADED, FORWARDED TO CONSIGNEE, SELECTED SERVICE IS NOT AVAILABLE

It does not give me an estimated delivery date. I'm trying to determine if this means I'll have a Monday delivery.

Thats the message I got. However I just checked UPS using kbmb's instructions and I am eligible for Saturday delivery.

I guess it is just wait and see at this point...

Anyone who didnt get shipping notice in the early AM last night getting any notices today?

I ordered mine at 8:33 a.m. (i.e. 3 minutes after the apple store posted it) on the first day it was available for order and haven't received shipping info nor does the site say mine has been shipped. WTF?

I just did that same test and it appears that I'm eligible for Saturday delivery as well. I guess I'll be wearing out the refresh button this week.

I have had bad luck with UPS in the past, if I have a problem with them I have to drive an hour just to get help but yet with Fedex I only have to drive 5 minutes to get help.Plus I don't think UPS does Saturday delivery in my area but FedEx does.

Same here, FedEx and USPS both deliver on Saturday, but UPS won't deliver until Monday. Wish Apple would have released earlier so I could have enjoyed the iPad on a long holiday weekend... plus I now have to burn a vacation day to stay at home and get the delivery.

Has anyone, who ordered during the first 10 minutes of availability, not received a shipping notice?

In speaking with a contact of mine that I have at Apple, they have not officially released any of these to UPS to ship but rather scanned them and are holding so they actually deliver on April 3rd. They in fact will get them out in time to deliver on the 3rd, but UPS has not actually gotten these items in hand yet. Makes perfect sense since they dont want anyone getting this earlier than the 3rd.

mine

all my four ipad orders say

SHENZEN, CN, not sure where kentucky is coming from, shouldn't they all be coming from the same place at this point?
