Wow, it's just a piece of consumer electronics. If when you're getting an iPad causes this much consternation for you, you have bigger issues. It'll get to you when it gets to you.

Mine shipped today but whether it comes on Saturday or Monday doesn't matter...I'll still get it. Maybe better if it comes Monday so I can spend the weekend with my family rather than goofing around with the iPad :D

Maybe people would like to play with it during the weekend and be ready to go on Monday.

That's fine and all. I just think the craziness and hype that people generate reflects poorly on the community and where a lot of stereotypes come from. I'm excited about the iPad but it's not the foremost thing on my mind, I don't understand how it can be for anyone else unless they have no job, no wife, no kids, no other interests, etc.

Just my 2 cents.

I find it a little funny that the guy saying this is posting on a Mac fansite, during the middle of a work day, and he's in a thread discussing the beginning of shipments of the iPad he recently ordered. Yet he wants to lecture the rest of us on our extreme fandom and excitement for this product launch. Yeah, sure buddy.

very well put! Exactly! You notice he hasnt said anything since we replied back to him about why we are fans! Unreal! Think before you post man!

I'm excited but not to the point where I'm spending time trying to figure out whether my iPad will deliver on Saturday or Monday. What each tracking status update means, scouring the UPS website for clues as to when you'll get it, calling UPS, calling Apple, etc etc etc.

It seems like most people have either had it marked as "shipped" or at least "prepared for shipment." Should I be concerned that mine (32GB WiFi, ordered within the first 5 minutes of pre-order, east coast delivery) still shows "not yet shipped"? The credit card shows the reduction in available balance and I haven't received any word of problems about payment from Apple or the credit card company.

Yes, yes, this is foolish worrying and all, but I have a family event planned for this Sunday and I was hoping to have the iPad in hand to show off some old pictures and slides that I've been scanning.

Just wanted to update that mine was finally switched to "prepared for shipment" status. So, for those still waiting on "not yet shipped," hang in there!

On a completely unrelated note, I called Apple today regarding my iPad 3G order and I was told by a customer service supervisor that they were instructed to clarify to customers that the "unlimited 3G" service for the iPad is truly unlimited; none of this 5GB cap nonsense. Granted, the final word on this will have to come from AT&T and how they deal with it after launch, but this was encouraging news.

This is what it states on tracking for UPS:

LOUISVILLE, KY, US 03/29/2010 11:18 A.M. UPS INTERNAL ACTIVITY

Louisville is a major UPS hub location. They do major sorting of packages there.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worldport_(UPS_air_hub)

Folks think the Apple's data center in NC is big ... this is another level big (although not one continuous building. )

Also wouldn't be surprising if Apple can just send bulk collection of boxes there and UPS will slap shipping labels on them and ship for a small fee. Or just "park" the packages there (again for a fee. ).

I ordered at 5:39 and do not have shipped notification only the prepared status

I ordered mine last Thursday during lunch, and it just changed to prepared for shipment. I think they are just processing all pre-orders that made the cutoff. I know my iPhone 3GS was one of the last to get a shipment update, but they got it here on time.

well that is good news since mine still hasn't shipped lol

ah!

This makes me mad... My tracking number is still not working! And I called UPS and they said if you do UPS ground, then there is no Saturday Delivery for the whole country! So sorry to everyone who took advantage of the free shipping! Like me! I knew I should have reserved it in store...

April 5th in Boston? I'm in Philly and do get Sat delivery. I wonder if it depends on how close you are to the local central shipping office.

I called UPS. I liv near Boston, but called the headquarters or wherever. They told me that they have Saturday delivery everywhere, but now with the free shipping (UPS ground).

I got my notification at 6.25pm but the tracking number is not registering yet.

Shipping UPS

Got my tracking number a couple hours ago. About 15 ago, I received a tracking update - "Origin Scan: Shenzhen, CN"

Next Stop: Anchorage, AK!

(32GB iPad order placed 0537, 3/12)

Lucky! My ipad tracking number says "Cannot verify"

tracking Info

i wonder if people that picked the paid shipping insted of the free shipping are now getting tracking numbers?

My order happened in first 6 minutes for 64 GB WiFi. Order status changed to "Prepared for Shipment" 1:10 today. No tracking info, no e-mail yet.

P.S. I did pay $13 for expedited shipping.

Free shipping

I selected the free shipping and now have a UPS tracking number.

Took all day but finally got my email notice. Ordered mine within minutes of availability to order on March 12. Last name starts with V. Alphabetical order? Ha. Don't really care. Can't wait till Saturday. Pre-signing the UPS form so they will leave it. Doubt I am going anywhere though..:D

You might as well have flushed $13.00 down the toilet. It's not going to get there any sooner than the free shipping.

UPS's website is going to be flooded with iPad customers hitting the refresh button all day long between now and Saturday.

Agree!

I was thinking just that earlier today when I got the email - all the refreshes may act like a big DDoS (distributed denial of service attack) on UPS' servers.

fake mines still say preparid for shipping someone is making it up.

why would numerous random people be making this up? i got my email this morning - just be patient yours will arrive soon.

There were no free vs paid shipping options. They're all being delivered on the same day no matter what.

there was a paid "upgrade" available during the early ordering process which was apparently removed later. and until you are billed we do not know if apple will keep that added fee on or if the accessories will arrive quicker.
