I am mostly curious about the new €,€€€ prices. My guess is that I saved money by upgrading everything in the last 12 months, but with the current USD/EUR exchange rate the € prices should either remain the same or even drop (I know that’s unlikely). So there is one person who’s waiting for the store to go back online.

Steve Jobs yoinked NVIDIA GPUs and replaced with ATI (now AMD) cards for an MWNY product announcement after NVIDIA leaked they would be in the new Power Macs. That happened in 24 hours.
I asked that user to name one time an Apple Event was canceled/postponed from the day it was announced to be on, on that day.

Your comment has nothing to do with that but thanks for your contibution.

One time Steve was supposed to announce the iPhone 4s. But then he never.
I asked that user to name one time an Apple Event was canceled/postponed from the day it was announced to be on, on that day.

Still waiting for an answer to the actual thing I asked.

The answer is it never happened.

They do it because it works and costs them nothing.
It doesn't cost them nothing. Apple makes something crazy like 700k per minute and most of that comes from online sales. Most people will just come back later to make their purchase sure. But there will be a lot of impulse buyers that will be given time to re-think their decision and change their mind.

Now im sure Apple ran the numbers and they find the marketing worth any loss in sales. But to say it costs them nothing is just false

And there will also be a number of people who don't know the new models are coming out today so they'd buy the older models of the phone, watch, airpods and then ask for a refund. Returns cost Apple money.

I'm home today, so I'm able to watch live, but I'm struggling to find the motivation.
My motivation is basically to see how many of the rumors were true. But i find myself getting so annoyed at Apples fluff, making tiny improvements seem like monumental innovations... im sure many average consumers fall for that crap.... but people in the tech world and on these forums just roll their eyes lol.

That 700K per minute is stretched across multiple sales channels. Best Buy doesn’t shut down in solidarity with the Apple Store on launch day. They’re still selling iPhone 16s as we speak. My point is the marketing impact and resulting flood of pre-orders far outweigh any momentary pause in sales.

Got a new 16” MBP M4 coming tomorrow and my current phone is a 16PM. Skipping the upgrade this year.

My M1 MBP goes to the spouse and her’s goes to the daughter. I really wanted the bigger screen because I work from home a lot.

But I do have to admit the M4 on the 16” I got is like killing aunts with nuclear weapons. I’ll never use all that power and this one will last me 5 years.

Yes I’m getting AppleCare on it. Sue me.

Brothers and sisters, I am just so excited. I know it’s stupid. I know the updates to the phone are incremental. I still don’t care.

All year my money goes to bills and my kids. I’m lucky if I get one new pair of modest shoes every year. This phone “upgrade” is the one thing I do purely for myself all year. I can only afford to do it because T-Mobile lets me upgrade yearly by paying tax and sending my previous, half paid off phone in to them.

It’s just such a nice glimmer in these otherwise very bleak, unnerving times. I always look forward to this day. Today I will be watching the livestream during a medical treatment and I am counting down the minutes. Laugh at me all you want, I deserve it, but I also deserve to feel a little joy here and there.

Fingers crossed the price of used AirPods Pro 2 drops after this so I can replace my daughter’s failing set 🤞
