The iPhone hasn’t been a new revolutionary new whatever since 2007, when it was introduced. We’re 12 years in, the iPhone is a mature product, just like the Mac. I’m not sure what people are expecting at this point...laser beams, holographic projections, cybernetic implantation?

I want a bottle opener and one of those things for getting stones out of horses hooves.

Out of interest what did the XS have over the X that made it a worthwhile upgrade that the 11 Pro doesn’t have over the XS?
In hindsight it doesn’t really look like the xs had anything over the x beyond your standard, very mild spec bumps.

Faster cpu
Slight battery improvement
Slight camera improvement
Slight water resist improvement
Slight speaker improvement
Esim
Uhhhh...?

Kinda makes you wonder why anyone would upgrade from X at all. By comparison, 11 Pro looks like a quantum leap.

Since it’s important to the spec-sheet people out there, the XS also has 4Gb of RAM.

No upgrade this year as no one in my household is having any issues so I will be looking to see what's in store for next year or maybe 2021.

I’m in the IUP and I did the pre-qualification and took my order as far as I could. Is it possible to change the color before placing the order? I went with gold but am now thinking maybe I want the green just to have a new color.

Space grey or the new green arghhh

I think it’s just iOS 13 giving it 30% faster
It could also be that Face ID was updated internally. Apple made mentions that it supports wider angles and from further away as well. That’s something that all Face ID devices currently do not support. Any attempts to scan from far away, and you get a prompt that your face is too far away.

The newer and faster Face ID could be both hardware and software. My daily driver Xr is on IOS 13 pb 8 and Face ID is a bit faster, but wider angle/further scanning does not work.

When I’m waiting for 8:000 EST, can I leave the Apple store app open, or do I need to reopen it right at/after 8:00?

(Does it auto refresh?)
I can sort of answer that for you lol. I opened both the Store App and opened a new tab in safari with the iPhone page, and when I checked a few minutes ago, the page was pulled down and on the App the same is happening.

Based on last years launch of the S4, depending on how fast your App refreshes, you may have to force quit the App.

what’s this hindsight stuff? It was obvious then.

First time not upgrading on launch day since iPhone 5.

Camera looks simply stunning, but that's a hell of a cost for "just" a camera upgrade. Appreciate the other improvements, battery life, faster, usual stuff - but loss of 3D touch (and not mentioning it) irks me.

Key thing missing for me is 5G and lack of USB-C. Don't get me wrong, USB-C isn't "needed" but the naming is really badly thought out. iPad moves to iPad Pro and moves to USB-C. iPhone moves to iPhone Pro and stays on Lightning. No wonder everyone is confused.

The most compelling reason for me to upgrade from my iPhone X is the improved camera performance, especially in low light. By my X still works well, with great battery life and no issues, so I'll wait and see what the iPhone 12 has next year. I used to upgrade every second year, but the more recent iPhones are so good that a three year cycle is fine.

I think ATT jumped the gun

I already have an iPhone XS, so 1.000$ for a better camera is a bit to much. I'll stick with what I have for now, maybe next year.

My iPhone history is: iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6s, iPhone SE & iPhone XS.
