Apple Store Down Ahead of iPhone 4 Pre-Orders

I wonder what the criteria would be for having the accounts read things differently. I'm on the west coast. Wonder if that matters at all.
I dont think so. i used to work for ATT and certain FAN accounts have some restrictions. Do you have a FAN account?
Not that I know of. How would one know? I don't even know what a FAN account means! lol

I thought reading MacRumors simultaneously (in a separate window) was the cause of my problems. Not. (Just tested that.)
I've been switching back and forth between Safari and Firefox. No different in terms of delays.

I really wanted to order through the apple store, but this is ridiculous. I just ordered through ATT.com and had no problems. I was in and out w/in 10 min. The presentation was not as nice, but it is done and I have a confirmation email saying my iPhone 4 (whom I have named Santiago) is on his way. Boo Yah!!!

What I did was change all phones to PDA and smartphones only and the iPhone 4 popped up when it refresh the page..
Spent 1.5 hours attempting to preorder via Apple's site, no dice. I was also constantly checking AT&T's site and kept getting the 3GS ordering page.
Finally, out of nowhere, the iPhone 4 ordering page appeared and I was then able to place my order in less than 10 minutes. New customer to AT&T and phone successfully ordered at the $299 price. A little angry though, AT&T's site has had this 'order today and we waive the $36 activation fee' ad on their site, but it showed I will be charged for it. Whatever, I guess, should probably be more pissed that AT&T is charging me $114/mo and not with unlimited data, lol. On T-Mo I had unlimited everything for $85 and no contract, but my 3GS had to live its online life via EDGE.

crap. i post my freaking phone number on the internets and then i find out the server crashes messed up my credit check and i have to go into the store this morning and give them my credit reference number if i want to pre order.
I don't understand how people are ordering from AT&T. I logged onto my account, clicked on "Pre-Order the iPhone 4", and got a list of 3GS phones!
