It says in the tech specs that they now have subwoofers? That wasn't listed in the old ones...

I was also looking to get a 13", but not if it is not updated!

:mad::mad::mad::mad:

RAM is 4GB now standard and it looks like a better battery....correct? For the same price as before. Don't know about the graphics card compared to the one in our MBP, but to me that's a quasi $200 price drop.

edit: Looks like the graphics card is significantly better along with the battery.

i7 optional on 17in model

1680x1050 res on the 15" makes me happy :)

Also, the dedicated 320M on the 13" makes it a real choice for me. I'm very happy about this update, but am kind of scratching my head as to why there's no 17" i7 and if the i7 in the 15" is a quad-core or not. Can't seem to find it.

NVM: I see the i7 17" is a selectable option, just not a preconfigured one.

as per title :)

At least Apple didn't take away the anti-glare option on these. That's been the trend across the other lines, so you guys should be happy as such...

Yeah, too bad it's an upgrade which costs $105 CDN. I don't understand why Apple would not make the 1680x1050 resolution native/standard? As for the i7 17-inch, I'm think they're going to try to make it different, something similar to when they updated the 17-inch to the unibody architecture last.

It's a nice update but again, Apple makes you feel that some of these new features should've been here a while ago but when they finally introduce it, they make you pay for it.

Sorry, you're buying a 13" laptop and complaining about the processor only being a C2D still? It's the lower end laptop in the line-up, expecting it to have the same specs as a 17" version but with smaller display is never quite going to happen.

You're right, just about every other manufacturer understood long ago that Specs and Screen size aren't tied together. We should quit on hoping Apple to see the light.

Because you know, everyone wants to drag around a 17" behemoth or they don't need the extra processing power.

OK, worst update in history? NOTHING new for the 13"... that being said, what's the difference between a core 2 duo and i5... would I have seen a difference?

wow....cant even get hdmi...i mean i wanted blue ray but didnt expect it, but atleast hdmi....this really isnt anything special of an update

Personally I can't see what I could possibly ever do on a tidgy little laptop like that that would warrant more number-crunching capacity. Unless you're just doing protein folding because you're bored?

I'd be more disappointed about the relatively flat scale of GPU performance across the line-up. I'm a bit disappointed also that the Mac Pro and Macbook Air haven't been updated. The Buyer's Guide here basically will now say "Don't buy a mac unless you want a MBP"

Bah.

Er...have you heard of using an external display? No?

What if I want all that grunt on the desktop but would like to be able to take it places? Why do I have to be a machine with a bigger screen? What does screen size have to do with grunt anyway?

Not all of us are editing video.

New Macbook Pros. No changes (that I noticed) to anything else. It's not time for me to replace my Macbook yet so I glanced at the new MBP line, drooled for a second, then closed the tab. Whoa. Had to do an "undo close tab" to go back and check the cpus. Yes, there's core i5's and a core i7. The low end (my end of the line) are still core duos but everybody gets 4 gig of RAM now.

disappointing not to see an improvement in the 13". Sure, leave the C2D in the MB, but the Pros should all have an i#. Disappointing...

No Event

These weren't expected to be announced at an Apple event so it should be no surprise that these are a simple gpu/cpu refresh.

Pretty glad I didn't wait for this update! My last-gen MacBook Pro is still awesome!! :)
