HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHA

Apple have shafted the 13"

and upped the price.
ahhahahhahahah

999 UKP
pathetic

Not really. The old base model (2.26) MBP13 was 999UKP when you picked the 4GB ram upgrade. They've just made it standard now, and you get a few other upgrades thrown in (faster cpu, bigger hdd, more battery, better gfx).

guys, if you dont just look at the specs in the "buy now" page, youll actually see that the battery has been upgraded as well.... 2 more hours! didnt expect that.

EDIT: guess someone beat me to it.

OK, worst update in history? NOTHING new for the 13"... that being said, what's the difference between a core 2 duo and i5... would I have seen a difference?

Why the frustration? Just enjoy them. They can do anything you'd want them to do and do it reasonably well, all while running OS X.

SOFTWARE is the whole point, not really the hardware specs. Been this way for a long time now.

Are you really surprised?

I waited all this time for a 13" core iX. What a fool I am. Perhaps they're not done quite yet but at least I won't have to pay more for the RAM and HDD I wanted to upgrade.

And I waited all this time for USB 3.0 ... three months after HP, ASUS, everyone else has (admittedly top line) models with it, Apple can't do it. What a joke.

And I count myself as a fan. Others will be pissed off by the lack of Blu-Ray, but I didn't want that, so could be objective and knew that was never going to happen.

Sorry, you're buying a 13" laptop and complaining about the processor only being a C2D still? It's the lower end laptop in the line-up, expecting it to have the same specs as a 17" version but with smaller display is never quite going to happen.

Personally I can't see what I could possibly ever do on a tidgy little laptop like that that would warrant more number-crunching capacity. Unless you're just doing protein folding because you're bored?

I'd be more disappointed about the relatively flat scale of GPU performance across the line-up. I'm a bit disappointed also that the Mac Pro and Macbook Air haven't been updated. The Buyer's Guide here basically will now say "Don't buy a mac unless you want a MBP"

Bah.
I look at the 13 inch macbook as the low end and 13 inch macbook pro as a smaller version of the pro line, not a gimped or low end laptop. It's just smaller or it shouldn't be in the pro group.

Just my opinion (and yes, I was hoping for a decent 13 incher).

You're right, just about every other manufacturer understood long ago that Specs and Screen size aren't tied together. We should quit on hoping Apple to see the light.

Because you know, everyone wants to drag around a 17" behemoth or they don't need the extra processing power.

I've found several exceptions to that rule, mainly gaming laptops and the 17"ers that only have normal dual core parts.

From Apple's website under features:

"Depending on which application you’re running, these models automatically switch between the blazingly fast discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M processor and power-efficient integrated Intel HD Graphics."

Sweet. I know a lot of people hated the fact you had to log out switch graphic cards before.

Shattered!!

I still have my 2008 unibody 13" macbook, C2D 2.4 with 4GB ram.

Today's 13" "update" gives me no reason to update either, totally razzed off!

And still no UK iPad pricing!!!

arrrrrrrrgh!:mad::mad::mad::mad::apple:

It looks as if my 2007 MBP will live to see another revision. Admittedly, there's a new enclosure, multitouch trackpad, faster bus, superior battery life and better graphics.. hmm. It's sounding better every minute..

But it still suits my needs, and while it does that I certainly can't justify £1649 for a mid range 15"

Apple really screwed me over this time. Waited 3.5 months for a new top end 13" pro. And they decide not to shove an i5 into it. I'm going to cry myself to sleep now. Night.

i5 and GeForce GT 330M with only 256 MB? $1800? I was hoping for a little more for this price.

Interestingly they offer an HDMI output adapter now but still no Blu-Ray.

Looks like the 13" MBP got a significant GPU boost from the 9400M to the GT320M. But the 15" and 17" MBP are stuck with the GT330M? What is the TDP of the GT320M? It better not be the same as the GT330M since that would mean Apple made now real use of the larger thermal room in the larger models.

Well, I am not thrilled, but it is good enough for me to pull the trigger. I think the middle Macbook Pro with the high-res screen is the one for me. Now, that being said, the high end 15" has, in addition to the slightly faster processor, an additional 256mb of dedicated graphics memory on the 330M. Do you think this will make a difference? That is, is the additional $200bucks worth it for the faster processor and graphics memory? I'm interested in your thoughts, since my current macbook pro is the old first generation core duo model (not the C2D).

I said this four times and I'll say it again: if the MBP's are going to get updated around now (which they probably are), it's going to be a week or two after this event, as a silent update. (most likely APRIL 12-13 or APRIL 19-20). In 2009, the Mac Pros, iMacs, and Mac Minis were updated two weeks before the March 2009 iPhone OS 3.0 event, and in 2008, the iMacs were updated a week after the March 2008 event for iPhone OS 2.0.
Was I right or was I right?

This is a Pro laptop, not the normal macbook. For many of us who use the computers at work, screen size is not about "bigger is better", but of what size is a best compromise between portability (travel, and moving it around internally for meetings and presentations), normal work scenarios (e.g., do you have extra screen and keyboard at the normal desk), battery lifetime etc.

E.g. Macbook air was never positioned as "small, and thus cheap".
