What I was saying (not implying) is that this is device I'm looking for. I'm finding I'm not alone, as I'm posting on MS sites and finding a lot of Mac users also looking into the Surface options.

Sorry about your poached eggs, but the mess is your issue, not mine. I don't care who is the "leader" or even brand loyalty. I care about what I need.

LOL re eggs :) - yes, and I didn't actually spit em out :D

You'd soon care about leaders if they let the company slide, believe me.

The good old days Of Steve and the legendary exposes are long gone - he was Mr Showman , Tim Cook suffers from a charisma bypass in comparison , dull as ditchwater imo.

Apple really ARE boring nowadays. I actually almost fell asleep during the last one when Eddie Cue started prattling on.

Bring back Scott Forstall !!!!
I admit, I nodded off, too.

Last year when they introduced the new Apple TV--or was it something else...I don't remember as I was fighting sleep...and they went off on a long demonstration of how to do online clothing shopping I had to get up and get tea to wake up. That was wretched.

I'm excited about today, but only because I'm hoping the new 4" IPhone is what I want in a phone for my daughter, who doesn't really want to be lugging a 6s around, let alone a Plus. However I'm not expecting any fireworks. I'll have a huge mug of tea and chocolates ready for this one.

Like what Apple is doing right now (IMO). I don't need watch bands or colored macbooks. Like I said, I only care about my needs. I'm not a stockholder or employee of either company. I'll go with what works, and from what I'm reading on line in lots of places, I'm not alone.

Tim Cook is a COO/finance guy. Operations. Efficiency. Not a creative spark in his bones.

Right now, Apple is the best of the options (Android, MS), but they aren't awesome, like they used to be :(

It would be really cool if some of the "Apple aren't awesome" people could come up with examples of awesome life-changing products they would introduce if they were Tim Cook. (Before you ask, no, I don't have any ideas.)

Last thing I want is OS X with major interface changes, because I can totally imagine it and it terrifies me.

"Smaller text than ever before enables you to put more things on your screen at once!"

Don't confuse Apple with the muddled minds at Microsoft. Same business, vastly different levels of confidence & confidence in their designs.

**That's alright, nor do they ;)

Slightly offtopic but I live your 'Tar. I remember watching that show as a kid :D

As for the 6s vs. SE, I too am looking forward to the smaller form factor. I erred in getting the plus, I'm finding its just too large for me.

To keep people from buying things that are no longer going to be sold

So they've determined that - say 4 hours - is the magical number to not piss people off by buying soon-to-be older hardware? They could still leave the store open and have a pop up that reminds people of the launch event indicating they might want to tune in and/or wait to place their order (a blanket statement - not product specific). I'm sure people who bought yesterday when the store was open will still be just as pissed as someone who bought this morning. And quite honestly, since Apple is so into customer service - couldn't they just accept the order and then send out an email just after the keynote asking those who ordered if they would like to "upgrade/update" before their order is processed? There are other options.

Still taking down a store to introduce a few new products?
It's like 1996 and the information super highway all over again.

But when we talk about products Apple doesn't have (like the convergence/Surface product) you deny it's interesting, though for many, it is interesting. You can't have it both ways.

But here's another idea -- A Siri that actually WORKS.

And another - Amazon Echo. Amazon devices are starting to proliferate around my house. Very useful stuff.

If I could invent this stuff, believe me, I wouldn't be posting on the web about it, lol. But I can see stuff that is vastly more useful to me than a watch to tell my my phone has an e-mail or text.

Let's hope for the Apple Watch. I don't, I simply lost my faith in Apple's ideas in general since about 1-2 years.

I honestly believe that we have one or two more years without any revolutionary product. The Apple Watch is a good companion tool, but not what will change behavior (at least not in its present form).

You're clearly not in marketing.

That mock site is detracted from by the huge amount of unjustified over-confidence of the person writing the "jokes". If that was you, sorry but your career as a comedian needs some refinement.

At some point Apple has to stop selling the old product. Its not about pissing people off (which it should be). There are obviously other reasons to take it down as well, that others have mentioned.

I disagree. the iPod did not really change the customers' lives, except young kids who listened to music. It was a huge improvement compared to what was available before, but it was not a life changer for most of the population. Do you know what is the real contribution of the iPod? It made Apple look cool again. It was the perfect tool for rebranding.

Huh! Kids, who did not want to walk around with Walkmans, or even the poorly marketed in the USA Mini-disc players, were all carrying an iPod. Even before the iPhone landed, the iPod Nanos were wildly popular, and mobile music took on a new life. I saw this first hand in kids, teens, young adults and middle-aged people. What were you seeing?

As for looking cool in the computer zone, the iMacs, both the bulky multicolored CRT versions and the flat panels goose-necks made Apple pop again. The black Macbooks were a real cool look for students who did not cover them with cases, and Apple stood tall in its entire computing line-up for reliability.

The big "cool" factor - all of them were expensive, so every one knew "how cool" they were!

Hello user loopmein who registered yesterday, thank you for your opinion.

(I laughed.)
Just noticed that myself. Over enthusiastic Apple employee (or someone assigned to counter-troll?)

I don't hate Apple. I want them to succeed! But I need to refresh my '09 MBP, and the options are underwhelming, to say the least, and I don't think watch bands are going to do it :(
