Or a medical condition, like the driver had a stroke, heart attack, epilepsy seizure as examples.

Yeah they should install planter concrete barrier (less eye sore) to prevent this to happen. Medical condition, you can't predict that. I've seen a lot of mall has this, with dirt and concrete will perfectly absorb the vehicle impact and stop it.

This store has been there since 2006, so who would have ever thought an event like this would occur. The other thing is the store was clearly using thick security glass.
Acrylic is a non-glass alternative comprised of a single sheet of plastic between 1¼ and 1½ inches thick. It has solid security stats (UL752 listed bulletproof up to level 3). Plus it’s more affordable than laminated security glasses. All of the above make it a very popular choice for commercial buildings like banks and convenience stores.

People were hurt. Now is probably not the best time for jokes.
No joke. Legitimate statement against the normalization of vehicular violence and dependency that hurts us all. A bunch of thoughts and prayers doesn’t do anything to fix the problem. Would also be nice if the correct active voice was used for reporting: “a driver of a vehicle” while also calling it a crash, not an accident.

Ban cars.
At least you have to pass a test to drive a car and insurance is required to cover damage/loss/injury caused by the car. If you have certain health conditions, your license can be suspended.

I don’t think we need to ban cars, but if guns were as regulated at the level cars are, that would be a massive improvement.

I'm for a driver check every 10/5/3 years, depending of the drivers age, more or less like they demand from pilots.
Check more often when they are driving noobs, and check more often when they become driving seniors.

Character/Personality check
Health check
Agility check
Body flexibility check
Traffic rules check
Car driving/control check

And a throughout obligatory first aid training every 2 years.

If they fail 3 times, the driver license is taken permanently.

It happened around an hour ago, not knowing what happened yet doesn't make it some conspiracy or sealed criminal situation. It could easily be a health related issue still. When people aren't making light of the situation, they turn into armchair detectives. Sad stuff.
