Ignore the trolls, everyone... it just feeds them. We all know people like this, they thrive on the reactions.

Looks like a horrible accident for now. Having worked in a few Apple Stores, this really hits closer to home. And right before Thanksgiving as well.

One of my initial thoughts was maybe someone rammed the store to steal merchandise. But seeing as the car went in head first (I think thieves usually go rear first so as to make it easier to get away) and went all the way to the back (again, I think they'd more usually stay close to the front of the store), it seems more like it could be mistaking the pedals or a medical condition as others have mentioned.

No joke. Legitimate statement against the normalization of vehicular violence and dependency that hurts us all. A bunch of thoughts and prayers doesn’t do anything to fix the problem. Would also be nice if the correct active voice was used for reporting: “a driver of a vehicle” while also calling it a crash, not an accident.
Problem is all current articles I read leave out Why. Was it deliberate or health issue or mechanical? Was another vehicle involved that knocked them into the store?

So sad multiple people hurt while in the store. How in the heck was the driver doing such a speed in a parking lot?

Too many reasons to list for that to happen.

A friend's mom of mine was driving in the fire lane at a Walmart. She inadvertently hit her accelerator when she tried to brake. Ended up flipping her SUV and the SUV was impaled by one of the poles outside the store's doors missing her head and shoulder by mere inches. She only needed about 20 feet of distance to attain enough speed to end up in that situation so breaking through a glass storefront and most likely wooden tables to end up in the back of the store is not unrealistic.

Sheesh this is sad news. It definitely appears to be an attack based on the way the parking lot is designed. I can't see this being accidental, although anything is possible, but the location of the impact looks like the driver had to deliberately line themselves up.

There is seriously a major mental health crisis in the U.S. that needs to be addressed...

Generally, it's reported it's a Tesla when the Tesla's autonomous driving systems are activated and it crashes. But I'm glad this was your main take-away from this tragic event.

I get what you're saying with the "main take-away" comment.

But a lot of people have more "take-aways" from an incident and may choose to post about one that crosses their mind. It doesn't mean they don't have any empathy or compassion for those involved as that is what you were insinuating.

Probably standard procedure to open a criminal investigation, but if the driver wasn’t hospitalized, they probably weren’t having a medical incident.

What would they sue Apple for?

Apple probably does not own the property and it would probably be the owner's onus to have these installed as a security measure.
I am 99.9% sure Apple will be listed as a defendant on the lawsuit regardless.
