If it lets you continue without making a selection than thats by far the best thing to do, have no doubt, they will take your features off and say its your fault nothing can be done. Thanks for posting that it allowed you to continue without opting for a selection this will hopefully save a lot of people headaches.

Yeah, I'm going to call them and confirm beforehand. The reason I believe it's still on there is that when you click through it gives a warning that an incompatible feature (unlimited data for prior iPhone) is being removed. As the prior messaging plan is presumably not incompatible, I'm guessing it stays put.
 
Finally got "reservations" from Apple for 2 iPhone4S (one upgrade, one new line), both under the same apple ID.

I tried AT&T's site and it was finally working (FAN) and I was able to get to the last stage (just to test to see if I could)...I think I'm going to stick with ordering from Apple.
 
From the reservation email:

Why am I unable to complete my order right now?
We are currently unable to reach your carrier’s systems to process the information that you have provided. We will hold on to the information you have entered and use it to confirm phone pricing and eligibility for your account.

Looks like Apple is doing Reservations now. This is probably to relieve stress on AT&T's eligibility checker (database). I just reserved 2 4s's. It makes it look as though the eligibility checker confirmed the check and says we've reserved an iPhone for you and we'll contact you to complete your order later.
It gives you a reservation # per phone.

I'm sure Apple is just queuing up the eligibility check info for you in the background. And then they'll feed it through AT&T later when their systems are not so hammered. It'll then email you if you've actually passed the checker to complete the order. I am assuming it actually does reserve the phones for you as most people are probably eligible. If your not I'm sure it'll come back when you attempt to complete the order with the higher prices.

We'll see. I'm going to bed, f-this.
 
although i would have rather gone through the apple store, it got to the point where my pages wouldn't even load.

had no problems at all ordering on at&t and got the confirmation e-mail right away...

32g black iPhone4S is on it's wayyy!!!! :D

Worked like a charm, and if your worried about when it says "unlimited data not avalable" dont worry, click continue, the next page gives you the opion to select "unlimited data" IF your grandfathered in already
 
Ahh! in my excitement of getting through I forgot to screengrab my reservation info! How quickly do they email you? I'm freaking out here.
 
FAN ACCOUNTS

I went through the upgrade procedure on wireless.att.com just now and both of my orders went through. Already received confirmation emails from at&t premier that my phones should arrive on the 14th :D

Also reserved two phones on Apple, but oh well...at least at&t finally let my orders go through

I got 1 but nit the other for the 2nd 4s I ordered.

Yeah, it took mine a little over 10 minutes to come through, but it eventually did.
 
They should instantly email the address associated with your account telling you your reservation number and saying they'll email you again when it's your time.
