You already have adaptors so what's the issue? Seems those that need them have bought them. I'm sure current sales aren't enough to justify continued production of the things. It's not as if people are buying new original MagSafe adaptors at this point and need to update.

I haven't bought one yet, because I don't need one yet. That will change in about a year when I replace the MBP I bought three years ago. Like several other people in this thread, I have multiple adaptors in multiple places, and I'd rather pay $10 per location than $79.

Aaaaaaah so Apple should lose money on a product that isn't selling enough to make it worth producing because you can't plan ahead? Sounds like you plan to buy a new machine at some point so why not buy the adapters now if you believe you'll need them?

Anyone claiming there is enough demand to justify continuing to produce these should have no worries as if this is true, aftermarket options will pop-up.

Seriously, how many computer makers offer adapters to make legacy products that are over 3 years old work with their current laptops? I'm not aware of any.

Uh, when they still have equipment that hasn't been updated and still produce................. (thunderbolt)

actually

I'm glad I got a couple when I did, they're convenient and seem to have a stronger magnet than the newer one without the adapter. Not sure why they switched from the barrel style back to the original shape though.

The current (now discontinued) adapter IS bi-directional

actually, it's not. one cannot use a newer MS2 charger to charge an older MS1 device.

How about the reverse? Why doesn’t anyone make a MagSafe 2 to MagSafe 1 converter? Seems to me they are nowhere to be found.
