From check in until OTD with my Xs Max was 7 minutes.

I ordered both my iphone xs and the 44mm watch and finished by 3:12AM EDT.. the apple store app did not start functioning until about 3:08am EDT. It was 9/21 delivery the entire time until a couple of hours ago. Apple's site still shows as 9/21, but UPS shows 9/24 for iphone and unable to determine for watch.

I’m not one for conspiracy theories but it’s easy to make the jump from China being hit with $200 Billion in tariffs and Chinese customs delaying some iPhones for a day or two.

The world doesn’t work like that. Look, many people are not happy with the incompetence demonstrated by the current administration, and yes, this trade war is beyond ridiculous. But what would be the point in delaying some phones? If they wanted to make a statement they should have blocked all phones for a month.

That doesn't make any sense because there are no export controls for iPhone.

Blame the importing country (U.S.).

this isn't just happening to Apple Store orders. Also happening to the Apple Online Store orders. My order on my account says that it will be delivered the 21st, but if I click on the tracking number for UPS' site, it pushes my delivery date to Monday the 24th.

OK, so here is a question. Based on the UPS web site, Apple shipped i with UPS Worldwide Saver. That states: "International express shipments with guaranteed end of day delivery".
From locations in Asia to US it means 2 days, by end of day. As the package was shipped in time, but now not delivered based on the service (guaranteed 2 day delivery). Does this mean Apple will get a shipping refund from UPS?
Based on the following, they will:
" If we did not attempt to deliver your shipment by the guaranteed date or time, you can submit a request for a service refund by."

Ha! That’s the store I’m supposed to pick my XS Max from today. Was supposed to be 8:30-9, but it got delayed. I’m just really hoping they come in today. I took today off and won’t have any other time this weekend to get it.

Same here, I took the day off just for this and got the email around midnight, and saw it when I woke up. Kinda shady that they sent it out during a time most folks are asleep.

Yes, a notification from Apple or UPS would have been nice about the shipment delay for people who pre-ordered from the online store.

I’m just really hoping they get their shipment later today. Let me know if you hear anything.

So many things can affect shipping that are out of Apple’s realm of control. I work in the airline and shipping industry. Weather, such as the hurricanes and typhoons, aircraft mechanicals/diversions, the list is long. Our tech shipment is no different than a passenger trying to fly halfway around the world. The vast majority never have a problem, but the small percent of flights, including for packages, that have a problem, are the ones we hear about. It does suck to be the one affected, but it is because we are so used to watching our packages come to us so reliably that we find it a shocker. Hope you get your shipments soon. But we should withhold judging Apple until we know what caused the hiccup. The shipper has far more variables that can cause a delay. Good Luck though!

I feel for you guys, I know how I would’ve felt if I received that email this morning!!!

What email? They only sent it to customers who had a genius bar appointment to pick up their phone. To my knowledge, they did not send any emails to customers who purchased via the online store and had a delivery date of 9/21. I guess that would have been UPS who needed to do that since it was outside of Apple's control. Just making a distinction that those customers received an email from UPS and Apple that their phones would be delivered on 9/21, and as of today, those customers are pushed to the weekend or Monday with no email or explanation

My 8:30AM pickup was one of the orders delayed, I received the email from Apple at 12:23AM. No update since.

Interestingly, my Apple Watch order shipped, UPS says it will be delivered by “end of day”, but the tracking shows it left China today. Very weird.

It's already tomorrow in China, so not that weird.

Got this "unfortunate" email last night for a 3pm watch pickup in Toronto. I walked in at 10am and the store leader said "the shipment is late cuz of the weather in Asia" and he offered another watch they had as a Walk-in. I ended up with the gold SS but I just got an email saying my watch is ready for pick up at 3pm.

Why oh why do you (MR)have to repeat something that has been shown in a picture in the same article, see below.

Just to fill space?

Important update to your Apple pickup order

Thank you for your recent order with the Apple Store. We know you're excited to pick up your new product.

Unfortunately, due to some last minute logistical issues, your order will not be ready for pickup during your check-in time.

As soon as your order is ready for pickup, we'll let you know via email.

We apologize for the delay in getting your new product into your hands. We're working quickly to resolve the issue.

Just got off the phone with UPS. My phone and watch will not be delivered until Monday (given an initial 9/21 delivery date for both). They will not deliver on the weekends because Apple's shipment does not include Saturday service. Both items are in the UPS international hub in Kentucky.

For spending $2000+, you'd think they could afford Saturday service for, you know, in cases like today.
