Apple Stores to Drop Mask Requirement for Vaccinated Customers This Week

Mask regulations are just that. Regulations. They have no teeth. Short of some places which REALLY buckled down (like the Costco customer who refused to wear one saying "he didn't want to be a sheep", got his cart confiscated before he could pay for his wares). Many aren't willing to deal with maskless customers, but producing vaccination cards aren't required (unlike say, ID to purchase alcohol or tobacco products).

I do sort of chuckle when I see people I know are fully vaccinated walking around in masks outside and in the store.

I mean, why did you get vaccinated if you're just going to wear a mask? That's like trying to protect your knees with knee pads...while you're sitting in a tank.

Then I realize---oh--people just don't want to show they're good little liberals who didn't vote for an orange man.

I live in California and everyone here wear a mask in businesses. I will be interested to see what happens come June 15 when vaccinated people are allowed to not wear a mask in the state indoors.
In my state, NY, as soon as the announcement went out ending the mask mandate for those fully vaccinated, it appeared that most of the population will continue to wear a mask, while a small percentage won’t wear one.

If it’s necessary to interact with someone not wearing one, keep it to a minimum but be quick to avoid exposure. Stay safe!

Unless your wearing a N95 or N95s mask it’s like using a paper seatbelt in your car, you might feel safe but you are not safe. Wear the correct equipment.

I like how you quoted a line about how others are willing to die for change to support the welfare of others written by someone who actively defended slavery.
thank you.. history does have its moments. Can't change it can you? But if you live in the USA, I am sure you like your freedom don't you?

No, I wear the mask in the store cause the door says, masks required.

The cloth masks are really not that great but the N95 masks work so i assume all these pro mask people will start wearing the N95s
You're right. The N95 masks do offer protection providing they haven't gone past their expiry date. I would say maybe 5-10% of the people I see wearing a mask are wearing one that actually offers protection. Cloth masks are nothing more than theatre. If the rules made sense then I would be more inclined to comply. But telling me to wear a cloth mask that does absolutely nothing to protect me except scare my 11 month old daughter then no, I won't be complying.

Also the risk of serious harm from this virus to my completely healthy and young family is virtually nill. If you are in a high risk category then maybe you should self isolate and let the rest of us live our lives.

A lot of people really don't seem to understand it.

- The vaccines are not 100% effective - the best is about 90% - so you still have a 1 in 10 chance that you could get Covid if you're in close contact with someone who has it.
- Indoors is much riskier than outdoors
- We're still in a race against the virus - if one of the variants develops immunity to the vaccines, then we're back at square 1. How do we keep that from happening? We need to get EVERYONE vaccinated so we can virtually eliminate the virus.
- The US only has about 52% with 1 dose of vaccine, about 44% with two doses.

I know we all want to put this behind us, but there's a lot of people acting like the pandemic is over. If we open up too quickly, we'll cause another wave of cases (and how many variants will that bring?)

The cloth mask protects other people, not yourself. That's the point of it.

The N95 protects you, but if you're exerting yourself at all, it's hard to breathe adequately. Even just standing up all day at work with a job that requires focus can be too much for some people wearing an N95.

Many people are tired of living in fear. Variants are gonna happen regardless. The virus will mutate to survive. And a cause for mutations is indeed a vaccine.

The virus has a chance of mutating each time it replicates. So variants come from the virus spreading.

Really?, question why do vaccinated people not enjoy sports? I know baseball is boring but why do only un vaccinated people go to games?
quote the right person please, you replied to something I didn't post but quoted me as posting it. I am 100% opposite of what you quoted me as saying. lol

It is nothing moral. I actually don’t like that morallistic superiority attitude either. I do it for self-survival, for self-defense, and to help contain the spreading (if I get COVID, people on my home get COVID, people I stay on the same room or facility can get COVID) and the new variants like the indian ones are even more transmissible.

Honestly, there’s much controversy about face masks. I do believe they work, not the quirurgical ones, but the FFP2 and FFP3 that are the ones I use since the outbreak started. Believe me, this is not about posing, and not about politics either (I am not on the woke wave, the cancel culture and all of that stuff, for instnace, why the hell do everyone make this left-right association?? There are more colors than red and blue, there are many ideas and points of views) this is about survival. About not ending up in the hospital, about not getting persistent COVID. People in Asia have been using face masks for a long time, although they used to do it for pollution, I guess.

And I go a bit further. Now that many places are installing face recognition cams, face-masks help me preserve my privacy if we end up in a 1984 scenario. I have many reasons to want to wear a face-mask, now that is a normal, accepted thing. And I respect your reasons to not wear them, once the pandemic has finished.
Because it's overwhelmingly the left wing media and democrats who push for draconian lock downs which don't work, stimulus checks that wreck the economy, and face masks that are worthless. I'm not a US citizen but living in Florida and Texas I'm very grateful for the governor's not following the horrific policies of places like California and NY that have left so many lives ruined. There's a reason NY and CA have lost congressmen for the first time, people are sick of authoritarian dictats.

I just find it bizarre as maybe you have a health or risk factor that makes you vulnerable. But the survival rate for the vast majority is extremely high. My sister is a nurse and has been on a COVID ward since day one, in fact she is still not allowed to take time off to visit her niece she's never met. The people who are dying from this are sick and unhealthy people, those with diabetes or respiratory illnesses.

It might be the virus that worries you but from the start its how governments have trampled over civil liberties and how Silicon Valley giants have censored news that have worried me. I also have a young daughter who was born during COVID who doesn't like masks as they scare her and who's never seen her grand parents due to non-sensical travel rules. So for me it's a hard no in terms of compliance, we also have no intention of getting the vaccine especially after the huge number of patients my sister has told me about with pulmonary blood clots after receiving the Astra Zeneca vaccine.

Show me the peer reviewed research that show cloth masks prevent the spread of viruses.

From what I can tell, most people who are vaccinated will continue to wear masks, because there’s really no reason not to, while anti-vaxxers will refuse to wear masks, because you can’t fix stupid.
