I've posted the list of upcoming stores confirmed by Apple's listings in other threads, but here it is again.

You made my week! I saw your list for the first time and #8 was exactly what I was looking for. Green Hills is on the other side of Nashville, but I'm not complaining! At least I don't have to drive to Memphis! Woohoo! :D :D :D

Our Cup Runneth Over

Here in DC we've got it good...

Clarendon, Tyson's, a mini store in Bethesda, and a new store coming to Pentagon City.

Yeah, it would be nice to have one in DC proper, but honestly the only 'star' retail location in DC is Union Station.

I think that it was a misspell because ive herd of them opening a 20000 sq ft store in that location but i could be wrong

I don't think Apple could fit a flagship-size store in the Flatiron Building, since it has a narrow triangular footprint. But a mini-Store should be doable.

And I don't think Tekserve has much to worry about from an Apple Store - they have different business models. Tekserve has a great reputation as a repair shop, but I was never impressed with them as a store. Everything seemed overpriced and they would certainly not win any design awards for their store interior.

Keep in mind that a mini-store like one that could be in the Flatiron building is basically a pretty showroom for Apple products. It's, for example, so people can see for themselves how small a Mac mini is or how light an iPod shuffle is. I think the Flatiron is a great high-visibility location for this.

ifoAppleStore who broke the news on this one, believes it it likely a mini-store.

Flatiron District - New York City - The district is named for an historic and architecturally-significant, triangular-shaped, 22-story building at 175 Fifth Ave., at the intersection of Fifth Ave. and Broadway. Considered the city's oldest skyscraper, its major tenant is Holtzbrinck Publishers. The ground floor has 8,000 s.f. of retail space occupied by Sprint and Estée Lauder, which may be available for a future store, or Apple may locate nearby, in this district with lots of new trendy shops and cafés. It's the fourth store open or identified in Manhattan, about mid-way between the existing SoHo store and the future store at 58th & 5th Ave. Reportedly a 2,000 s.f. space (mini-store?).Appeared as a job location on Feb. 24, 2005.

Eastview Mall and Victor: great for an Apple Store

A lot of my friends are buying Apple computers... yep, the computers and not the iPods. One of them asked me today about buying a G5 vs a PowerBook and where to go to shop (tomorrow). I recommended the Walden Galleria, a lovely place. But now I can take people up to Victor, read some good things at Borders (cruise their Apple and Mac books), drink some good joe and then head over to the Apple Store. That makes 2 Apple purchases in one family, a third Mac recently in mine and the Mac mini on the way for my wife, an iMac for a friend's daughter and I convinced my sister-in-law to buy an iBook despite her PC-loving husband. Well, this will make it even easier to do demos for friends. Hello Genius Bar! Welcome Apple Store!

I have to wonder how well apple pays its employees at these stores. It would be very interesting to work for the company, though I'm not willing to move to a lefty state like California.

Canada has NO Apple stores right now. If anything, there should be one in Vancouver, and another in Toronto.

I figure why stop in the west with just a store in Vancouver...Victoria is perfect for an apple store...'lots of pedestrian movement in downtown...a University town...a HUGE tourist town...and our economy is buzzin'. People love the Island!

I know that Apple will do what Apple will do and nothing more, but I am ho-hum about having to see products over the internet or the odd package that London Drugs (huge drug & electronics store in western Canada eh...) manages to get into stock.

I wonder if WalMart (American for cash grab) will start carrying the Mac mini here in Canada...it's a stylin' package and it is color coordinated with my igloo!

I just registered so I could say exactly the same thing! I shared a plane ride out of Rochester last month with an Apple employee who said he's the guy who surveys the locations for Apple stores. He said he was visiting family, but you know I have a hunch that this rumor is going to pan out...

I'm throwin a high 5 at ya from Brighton!

Does anyone have an idea when the store in Eastview mall opens?

For this store and the other two posted at the same time there are no individual job listings as of yet. When those go up it is usually 3-6 months, barring construction delays such as they are having in Braintree and Century City, from listing to opening. Right now, the best one can say is it is likely they will be summer openings.

Yeah, it would be nice to have one in DC proper, but honestly the only 'star' retail location in DC is Union Station.

Just for a comprehensive list:
  • Bethesda Row, Bethesda MD
  • Montgomery Mall, Bethesda MD
  • Clarendon, Va
  • Tyson's Corner, VA
  • (coming) Pentagon City, Alexandria Va
  • (coming) Somewhere, Annapolis MD

Annapolis really is part of the DC Area; its only about 30 or so minutes from the Capitol. Getting to Reston or Herndon takes longer, and that's pretty clearly part of the DC Area.

As for Locations in DC:
  • Georgetown
  • Dupont Circle & Connecticut Ave south of the circle
  • Penn Quarter/Gallery Place
  • Yes, Union Station
  • Friendship Heights (in between Cartier and Tiffany's)
  • Downtown (Penn up to H, 14th to 11th)

Outside of DC proper but begging for a store:
  • Silver Spring MD
  • Rockville Town Center MD
  • College Park MD
  • Old Town Alexandria (Va) (unlikely now that Pentagon City is getting a store)
Apple has shown a preference for pedestrian traffic over remote suburban malls.

You do have it good. I love the Clarendon store, but hopefully the Annapolis Store will be full-sized so I don't have to drive for a fix! :D

Hah, now I'll only have to drive to Rochester from Syracuse when I move back later this year.

YAY! I'm still 3 hours from the closest Apple Store. :( I know Apple wants to build stores in the most populated areas so they can make more money, but what about the rest of the US? Just look at this picture:

retailmap012104.gif

Not to ridiculously over-generalise, but 12 people live in the middle of the country, and they are Walmart-mentality consumers. People unwilling to pay for quality will never try Apple in large numbers (3/12 ;))

Apple's greatest selling point to those who are not only not users but also not familiar with the platform is their stylishness. Do you really think their "metrosexual" chic would play in areas where people chew tobacco and are waiting for the "Rapture"?

Tokyo will be one of those 'Apple mini Stores'

I got to thinking that the Shibuya store will be quite small, most probably one of those smaller Apple mini Store's - and will be similar to the 'Apple corner' concept as they call them in Bic Camera - and focus on carry-out items - iPods, laptops, accessories, etc. Will be interesting to see if they use the credit card automatic check-out thing as well, that would work well here.

I will start to look around for construction somewhere....my office is walking distance from the central Shibuya shopping area....also checked out the Store Manager position on the internet....

Maine?

OK, I know it does not have the population density of some other places, but
36,000 iBook computers are being used by every 7th and 8th grade teacher and student in Maine’s public middle schools.
They have even added 9th graders as well, so those numbers are low. http://www.apple.com/education/maine/

Portland-South Portland, ME has 487,568 people and 16 colleges and universities. According to http://www.ifoapplestore.com/stores/top150_metro.html

But there are 4 resellers in the entire state, and the only one within 40 miles of Portland did not even have iLife '04 when I wanted to buy it.

So it seems like a ripe place for a store.

When, oh when, Apple??!!

I've been told by people I trust that the image is photoshopped. I guess that is what ProjektJ was writing about as well. Please don't try to foist a fraud on the good folks of Toronto who have been waiting patiently for quite some time. Anyway, I won't believe your posts anymore.
