All I know, wdlove is what was posted last month on ifoAppleStore.

The mystery surrounding the South Shore Plaza (Mass.) store delay has been solved: Apple was waiting for the adjacent Disney Store to close so it could incorporate that space into its future store. Apple interviewed prospective employees last summer, but construction never cranked up. The Disney Store closed last week, and now plywood covers both spaces before construction begins.

This is also confirmed by a post from a new person, SCTVGirl, over in the "New Apple Stores?" thread.

What it means is that with construction just starting last month it could be another month or two before opening. The good news is that the job listings have been posted for awhile now and the Store Manager position is no longer listed, which should mean it is already filled. The training and recruitment of new employees is the most difficult part of opening the stores, so let's hope most of it is done and the construction goes along quickly.

I would love to visit Tokyo's Apple stores, I only have to travel some 16000km to get there  :p however it would be great, another reason to visit Japan :)

The Ginza store is really nice.

Might be worth the trip.

Its good to see Apple building another store in Japan !! Osaka was a good idea (right in the heart of Osaka) but Ginza...lots of rich people, over priced goods, etc etc. Now Shibuya is the place where all the young kids go - its cool to be there and it will give Apple a bigger face in the Japanese market.....better business idea me think !!!

Now they have to put one in Yokohama, Sapporo and Fukuoka then they'll have most of Japan covered.... :D

I was a bit surprised to see Shibuya before some of the other cities.

Granted Shibuya is an up and coming place for young people. Ginza is relatively close. Then again, when you have 14million plus folks living in a small area I guess they will support more than one store!

Would think a small Apple store in Naha (Okinawa) would be good as well.

Eastview opening in August

Jessi Group and a contact at Apple told me this week that the Grand Opening for the Eastview store is slated for August.

I'm with ya on this one. I think an Apple store here would do well up here. Not to mention it would make it a lot eazyer for me to just run down to the store to pick up apple products we need here, rather than have to wait for them to be shipped or if they're needed asap save me the drive to Manchester, NH... (I had to do that once, it sucked.) There are a decent number of mac users here too... The company I work for is 100% mac based(30 machines) not to mention the other two companys in the building are mac based as well. (it's a good place to work if yer a mac geek heh)

OK, I know it does not have the population density of some other places, but
36,000 iBook computers are being used by every 7th and 8th grade teacher and student in Maine’s public middle schools.
They have even added 9th graders as well, so those numbers are low. http://www.apple.com/education/maine/

Portland-South Portland, ME has 487,568 people and 16 colleges and universities. According to http://www.ifoapplestore.com/stores/top150_metro.html

But there are 4 resellers in the entire state, and the only one within 40 miles of Portland did not even have iLife '04 when I wanted to buy it.

So it seems like a ripe place for a store.

When, oh when, Apple??!!
