This has to be one of the poorest value, most lackluster Apple products in recent years.
This can only be said by those who do not have it.

While I agree its overpriced for consumer use, its probably complete monitor in market for Mac's by far. There is no good alternative in market with this feature set and appeal. My BenQ monitor does this sometimes. I can usually stop it by turning it off and back on again, but it is annoying. Though the BenQ only cost $400…
Disappointing that this buggy overpriced monitor is the replacement for the 27” iMac![]()
Bro even Apple tech reviewers like MKHBD, Snazzy Labs, and Mac Address are saying this. The monitor is mid, plain and simpleThis can only be said by those who do not have it.

We need to understand this monitor is targeted as Studio display. rather than consumer use.
ASD has unique features no other monitor has like below. Until we have alternative with below features, its wrong to compare. Apple does always its one way i.e Take standard definition of Monitor (and then +++ which are unique).
-True Tone Support
-Wide Angle webcam with Center stage Support
-Best Looks in market
-Best Speaker
-Inbuilt Power supply
-Inbuilt Hub
-Excellent Microphone
-Siri Support
-5K Display ( best 5k panel)
I would love to have access to a 5K 27" monitor for one fifth the price of the Studio Display. Please tell me what competition for the Studio Display you have found at one fifth the price...How to charge 5x over the competition then?
I can't agree because it's been 8 years since the original 5K iMac and there still isn't decent competition to the 5K display at this size and price point. It boggles the mind and is frustrating for us as consumers that no other manufacturer has wanted or been able to compete, but it is what it is.This has to be one of the poorest value, most lackluster Apple products in recent years.
Maybe they figure it is too niche and not a big differentiator over 4K.I can't agree because it's been 8 years since the original 5K iMac and there still isn't decent competition to the 5K display at this size and price point. Possibly, or they'd rather focus on developing 8K and skip 5K completely. But those of us who've used 5K displays know there's a difference, so they're probably counting on the majority of people not having used them.Maybe they figure it is too niche and not a big differentiator over 4K.
They seem to focus on gimmicky features (curved, super wide, streaming/TV apps) to differentiate instead of fundamentals (DPI, HDR, nits)Possibly, or they'd rather focus on developing 8K and skip 5K completely. Are these the same tech reviewers that shelled out >6k for an XDR?Bro even Apple tech reviewers like MKHBD, Snazzy Labs, and Mac Address are saying this. The monitor is mid, plain and simple
You try drying my partner’s hair with a towel and then come back and then try stand behind that statement.Someone said his monitor makes buzz when he uses hairdryer.
I have zero pity for people who use hairdryers.
1500 watts wasted energy when you can use a towel.
I will fight hairdryer people over that.
I will also fight people who chew gum.
Any Apple fanboys want to explain this? Saving pennies for shielding just like they did with the flexcable in the Macbook Pro leading to millions of damages.
They probably will update their online manuals stating not the place the screen near electronic devices…oh wait.

I have a 5K iMac and a 32" 4K LG w/ my Mac Mini and there certainly is a difference. I definitely prefer the 5K but for $750, I love the added real estate, desk mount swivel stand (included), and a fatter wallet. I just couldn't stomach spending that much on the ASD for essentially the same 5K display I've had for seven years. (Didn't want or need speakers or a fancy but not-so-good webcam) And Apple's approach to monitor stands and the steep price added for something capable just sours me on a brand I've mostly loved since 1990. That said, I'm looking forward to Apple and/or others getting the production and price point for 5K down a bit. It'll happen, but it's sure taking a long time!Possibly, or they'd rather focus on developing 8K and skip 5K completely. But those of us who've used 5K displays know there's a difference, so they're probably counting on the majority of people not having used them.
And there's a reason for that: Because again the majority of people outside of a 1% care about 5K enough to warrant making more monitors. Which is why only LG and Apple even make the damn thingsAnd when you ask for an alternative with the same characteristics at the same price, no one can answer you.
The fact that there aren't comparable alternatives doesn't make it a good value. And when you ask for an alternative with the same characteristics at the same price, no one can answer you.
Or you could get a WiFi/bluetooth controlled plug as a workaround.
It's okay to be that guy! Me, too and we're not alone. Not to be that guy, but mine has been trouble free and seriously just works. I really like it.
