Until yesterday the time frame for my order was 7 April - 14 April. Today it changed to 24 May - 1 June. That is a massive delay. I ordered a few hours after the announcement on 8 March.
Ooof sorry to hear that! I’m afraid something like this could happen to me as well.
I also ordered right away after the announcement.
Mine still says April 8-15.

I have received mine a few weeks ago. Was pure luck - I have checked several of the Media Markt and Saturn online stores in Germany and finally one of the physical stores had one piece available.

You have to be crazy enough to check different online stores on a daily basis.

Right called Apple, the after sale person said it's been reported before and referred me to a replacement straight away, booked an appointment for me for tomorrow morning for my local Apple Store, though he won't be able to reserve stock.

Then afterwards googled and called my local Apple Store (didn't know they have numbers I can call), and the store staff was very helpful and reserved one stock for me.

Let's hope the new one doesn't have this issue. Wish me luck.
John Lewis have agreed to exchange mine, even with True tone if still not pure white

I ordered the same model as you, and I am in Germany, so it is well possible that yours will have a similar delay. In another thread somebody mentioned that the height-adjustable and the VESA mount versions of the studio display are especially affected by delays.

You were really lucky. I ordered via the Apple store because I needed the VESA mount version and because I work at a University and can thus get a significant discount via the Apple Store for Education.

Question: I see that there's Centre Stage, that's kinda goodfun and giggles, but the MacBook M1 Pro has Portrait, I kinda like that one better because it does the blur hardware side (Teams and Discord eats precious CPU cycles when doing that), does anybody knows if Portrait Video Effects will come to the Studio Display too? A bit of a boomer.
Can anyone else confirm this?
This seems super weird to me, does the Apple Studio Display really not have the Portrait Video Effect (Blurred Background)? Is there not a setting to activate it in the Control Center?

It has it - when using zoom mine gave me the option to turn on/off center stage and portrait mode in control center

I definitely don‘t have that option. I was assuming it depends on the connected Mac (mine being a 2018 MBP).

True Tone makes it yellow, should turn it off

What did you say them about the problem..I had the yellow in comparison to white on same page on mbp 14
Just say the screen is yellow, the guy on the phone had remote connected to my iPhone and used my camera, I showed Google.co.uk side by side. It's a lot less obvious on the iPhone camera, though he still agreed to exchange for me.

I do, compared to my MacBook Pro 2020 i7, and any other computer. It seems to me they've upped the warmth a lot and also the contrast, making the black too black (lack of detail), just to get a 'punchy' and warm result. Not sure about it.
Exchange it, I just got my new one, the colour tone is exactly as my 14 inch now.

Got my screen exchanged, and the new one is normal, the white colour tone is exactly how my MacBook Pro 14 looks, so I'd suggest if anyone has yellow screen issue, get it exchanged.

Is anyone using Teams with these? Centre Stage doesn't seem to be active at all and the camera image seems really over-processed and smoothed compared to other apps, but there's no settings to change anything.

Those are big delays to everything bar the normal stand, what a bummer. I wonder what's causing the issues?

Thank you very much @phoenixbt - glad to hear that!

Makes sense, didn't see your earlier posts about not having a Mac that supports this. Makes total sense then of course that you do not have it.

You can activate Center Stage via the macOS control center when a camera is active in Teams (directly before or during a call). Doesn‘t make the image better, but at least your face will be in frame. ?

Well it doesn't make so much sense to be honest. The ASD has an A13 chip inside which should handle these things, am I wrong?

Yep, would have been a nice add-on for older Macs (like ‚Hey Siri‘ which I personally never use and don‘t even know if my older Mac supports it already ?).

Yes, it‘s a few days until any of us will actually be “owners,” but the reviews should be coming soon, and we should have a dedicated thread to share our thoughts. Suggested topics of discussion:
  • What are your initial impressions (after you set it up)?
  • Are you replacing an existing display or adding a new display?
  • Are you satisfied with your selection of stand/mount? Would you get a different stand/mount if you had to do it over?
  • Are you using it with Windows? How well does it work?
Studio Display and Zoom problem

I’ve just bought the new Studio Display and it’s connected to my MacBook Air (2019). It works brilliantly… BUT

When I ran a training course on it with Zoom running a Keynote deck I’ve used several times before when I got to slides with embedded video it all went very jerky and sometime went to a black screen at the receiving end of the Zoom call.

Weirdly when I unplugged the MacBook Air from the Studio Display it all worked perfectly.

I tested this again with Microsoft Teams and it was exactly the same.

Hoping it’s a simple Apple patch will fix this but very irritating given the price of this display.

Keen to know if anyone else has had a similar problem.

Thanks

Not really the same, but maybe still somehow related: I was in a Teams call using the ASD mic & speakers and wanted to share a video with sound (Teams has a special setting for sharing your computer‘s sound that I enabled). When I started sharing, immediately the speakers started rustling quite loudly (luckily only audible for me though), so I directly switched it off again and used the AirPods instead. Didn‘t investigate any further though why this happened (I normally don‘t need to share video in calls anyway).

Thanks for that. With True-tone off, it is nearly the same as my iPhone XS (which has true-tone on!) and nearly the same as my MacBook, but not quite. When I turn True-tone on, the Studio display goes very warm, while the MacBook doesn't even change. Ugh, don't fancy the hassle of returning, and I would get used to the warm tone after a while, but it isn't right is it.....

surely someone here has Netflix... can you get UHD on your Studio Display (try The Girl from Oslo, for example) ? I seem to only be able to see DV and HD - NOT 4K UHD.... :(

I have that show up in a Safari window for you now. How do I check what the streaming rate is?

on the movie info page, you'll see in what format it is offered: HD or UHD, right next to the title and the other info below it. (you'll need to have the UHD subscription package to get UHD of course). Thanks so much.
