on the movie info page, you'll see in what format it is offered: HD or UHD, right next to the title and the other info below it. (you'll need to have the UHD subscription package to get UHD of course). Thanks so much.
I'm not seeing it?

Thanks for that. With True-tone off, it is nearly the same as my iPhone XS (which has true-tone on!) and nearly the same as my MacBook, but not quite. When I turn True-tone on, the Studio display goes very warm, while the MacBook doesn't even change. Ugh, don't fancy the hassle of returning, and I would get used to the warm tone after a while, but it isn't right is it.....
It sounds like your screen behave like the first unit I had. I was going to just 'get used to it' as well, but end up exchanging it, as I thought it's really expensive and I am planning to use it for years.

I hope this is a software issue, as after used display calibrator, I can set the screen to 75k and that looked better. So it could be that as well.

It says 'HD' on your screenshot! right next to '55% match'...follow that line.... Interesting. It should be in UHD (it is on a tv) but for some reason it is not on the Apple Studio Display.
I found a post that said Control + Shift + Option + D will show the rate. Here is what it shows while streaming that show.

surely someone here has Netflix... can you get UHD on your Studio Display (try The Girl from Oslo, for example) ? I seem to only be able to see DV and HD - NOT 4K UHD.... :(
It works for me. Don't look for the Ultra-HD symbol. Just use Control-Option-Shift & D to show the current resolution and bitrate.

Netflix displays only the DV symbol but the resolution is Ultra-HD

Thanks for that shortcut tip! handy. hmmm not sure I get all this data but surely my bitrate is not that great.... why am I not getting UHD?

suppose this 'Control + Shift + Option + D' trick proves the Display CAN do 4K. And that Netflix is useless with their little logo info ?. Trying loads now and haven't found many that do 3840..... but a couple. And they go back and forth between 1080 and 3840.... .. but it IS there...now and then. At least my purchase of the display is not a total bummer then LOL. Thanks so much for helping me clarify this! One of the reasons I bought the display is to enjoy 4K films on Netflix and Apple TV!

Most (if not all) seem to stick to HD though...playing Lost in Space at the moment but it's insisting on HD...
(my MacBook fan going mad while streaming but that's another story LOL)

Wait... Did you get them from Best Buy before the 20th? I thought you said they would be ready for pickup on April 20th. Mines are still showing April 20th as the pickup date :(

Haha no! I had already ordered the tilt-only models from Costco when I learned about the BB order. So I have two VESA's to pick up next week if they come, and will return the tilt only. Can't wait to (hopefully) be able to rotate one of these into portrait mode!! It'll be so amazing for word docs & academic articles.

OH OK, that makes sense then why I haven't gotten any update with my order and still says April 20th, well now says Wednesday. I thought I was left behind LOL.

Most of people in this thread are from the US. I'm located to Singapore and about receiving faster the ASD, it doesn't seem to be an advantage to be located closer to China than the US...
The nano-texture / height adjustable ASD that I had ordered on March 8 finally shipped on April 13. By UPS ground! It shipped from a big warehouse in California (Rialto, CA), not from China.

The weight indicated is around 40 lbs. So instead of air-shipping from China, they decided to send a large number by cargo ship and are are now distributing them individually from a US warehouse. My guess is the delay (it was originally supposed to arrive by March 31) was due to the much discussed supply-chain snafu at US (and worldwide) ports.

Got my VESA mount display yesterday. It's nice, I do feel it should be a bit less expensive. The build quality is great but once it's mounted up that is not something that is super visually appreciable. The rotate feature is a super cool party trick but ultimately not something I'm likely to use much. I look super photoshopped/puttied over in the webcam. Haven't listened to the speakers yet, which I don't need.

Overall, no regrets and it certainly pairs nicely with my Mac Studio, but if I happened to buy a 27" 4k for much cheaper, as someone who cares about but certainly isn't obsessed with picture quality, I might be almost as happy and have a good $1k left over from my purchase.

Just spoke with my Best Buy Magnolia guy and he said my pair of ASDs VESA Mount are scheduled to arrive to the store by 04/18, not April 20th as noted but they could arrive even sooner, as soon as tomorrow or Saturday.

I ordered a height adjustable nano display on release day. Kept an eye on the Apple Stores every day since and all things nano seemed very hard to find. Yesterday, fearing my delivery would be postponed by a few weeks, I found a nano tilt adjustable locally. They sold out as I contemplated it. Next location, sold out as I tried to place an order. Three times lucky and I scored a nano, but not height adjustable. The last one available. Added a Twelve South HiRise Pro adjustable stand and with a few hours work, and unexpected compromises in my setup, ended up in a very good place. The display is pixel perfect, the fans deadly quiet, and everything hits my high expectations. Lots of talk here about nano glass and a lot is negative. I was very concerned as I have not owned one before. It is perfection. With all the playing around I had to do getting things setup it got rather grubby, repeatedly, from handling. Cleaning it is a breeze, unlike what many posters here claim. Original order cancelled.... Running the studio nano with an original Apple Thunderbolt display. Still happy with the Thunderbolt but it pales in comparison to the Studio. I see another Studio nano in the future. Nano displays have been getting restocked through last night and this morning so so Apple is presently on a run with them.

Just had a zoom meeting and experimented between the ASD camera and an older Logitech webcam both rated at 1080P. The general consensus was that both were equally sharp. The differences noted were skin tones were lighter on the ASD than the Logitech which could just be the differences in the lenses themselves or the ASD processing the image. I have no way of knowing. BUT, the ASD webcam is aimed far to high and I have to tilt the monitor down to center myself in the video stream.

Just some new info for those looking for information.

Darn, this thread is going at the speed of light...
Can anyone else confirm this?
This seems super weird to me, does the Apple Studio Display really not have the Portrait Video Effect (Blurred Background)? Is there not a setting to activate it in the Control Center?

It has it - when using zoom mine gave me the option to turn on/off center stage and portrait mode in control center

I definitely don‘t have that option. I was assuming it depends on the connected Mac (mine being a 2018 MBP).
Alright! This might be the reason then, thanks for the follow ups, I have an iMac 2020 and this is what control center offers:

Works 100% reliable on all apps I have tried: Discord, Teams and FaceTime

Well it doesn't make so much sense to be honest. The ASD has an A13 chip inside which should handle these things, am I wrong?
Yeah, I would like it to have that option, I usually just use the Background Blur of the provided apps but would rather use the embedded functionality hardware based, system wide Control Center version.

Same with my nano-texture VESA mount, though the weight is 23.6 lbs.

Works almost in any app except Slack. I do not have portrait and center stage in Slack calls.

I do, compared to my MacBook Pro 2020 i7, and any other computer. It seems to me they've upped the warmth a lot and also the contrast, making the black too black (lack of detail), just to get a 'punchy' and warm result. Not sure about it.
how does it look if you turn off True Tone in display properties
