Silly issue: why doesn't my System Preferences show the custom Studio Display render? It shows a picture of a generic TV...
full
It looks like you have Monterey installed, but on older versions of macOS it shows the older Studio Displsy icon (Which isn’t that).

This AM I noticed that any video audio over the internet was glitchy. It was a rhythmic slight static hiss then silence then audio was start only to glitch again after about 5 seconds. This would happen no matter how long I tried to watch a video with audio. Initially thought it was internet related but tried one of my own videos and exact same sequence.

What fixed it was turning off the entire system, unplugging the Studio Display for about 20+ seconds then plugged it back in. At this point 3 pulsing gray dots showed on the screen. Once that stopped and the dots went away I started up the system and the audio glitch was gone.

Thoughts anyone?

Just received my SD yesterday, after testing it a bit, I noticed a slight pink/red/warm hue on the right side of the screen when I look at it from the center. If I move towards the right side which has this color shift, I don't see anything! I mostly notice it with bright/white backgrounds, I don't really see anything with darker backgrounds. Also if I move the SD a bit further back, it gets hardly visible, so I guess it changes with viewing angles/distance.

Is this standard IPS glow or something? Does it have something to do with the glass coating? Has any of you noticed anything like this on their SD or am I just being paranoid?

Attached a picture of it, although it is not as visible as shown here, but it is there.

Mine looks more uniform than your photo. Mine looks uniform in that entire test, actually.

Seems that a bunch of us are starting to see this in the last few days. A thread was just started for this issue with all of us finding the same solution of power cycling the SD:

Nope, Firefox user here. Even after a reboot with almost nothing running. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep looking at it.

Following this up - only a power cycle of the ASD fixed it. It had been powered on since I unpacked it two weeks before. I'll keep an eye on this to see if it's a cumulative memory leak or something. It was predictably better without center stage switched on (e.g. 1 minute before freezing vs 10 seconds).

As a side note - the power cable for the ASD and the Mac Studio look identical, and without a power button on the ASD (c'mon Apple - consider your Scope 3) it's worth tagging the power cables at the plug.

It’s overkill I know, but the Apple polishing cloth is very good. It’s well made and works very well on the display getting rid of any dust or marks. I know any decent microfibre cloth will do, but the Apple cloth is well done.
For me it does the job better than micro fiber clothes on glossy displays.

what Software is this?

Having installed countless displays and lots of VESA mounts/ arms, I can say that it's normal for the mount to include or provide the screws. Not the display. What arms are you buying that don't include screws? Ergotron, Amazon, HumanScale, Monoprice, Dell, etc.. all include screws. Often fancy ones or special knurled thumbscrews that match the mount.
My cheap VESA arm or my former Dell Display has 12mm screws included. But Apple wants 8mm ;) First I measured that with the plate between it's exactly the same length like the deepness of the hole but not 1/10 more so I used O-Rings just to be safe for sunday. But now I decided the casing is not in danger and slightly tightend the screws without wobbling. I don't think there is Air between but 12mm and any plate should be possible if needed.

I got it after but it wasn't easy as the ASD does not show up in your Apple products.

You have to go to go to this link:

https://mysupport.apple.com/add-coverage?productTypeId=PFC6004

In my case, that link did not work because my ASDs were purchased from Best Buy and I hadn't a valid purchase date so I had to go to this link first and add my purchase date:

After adding my purchase date, I was able to purchase AppleCare+ for my ASDs from the first link.

Out or curiosity, what convineced you to purchase apple care plus for the monitor?

From what I gather, the additional warranty is only for 1 additional year and it sits mostly on your desk so the risk of damaging it is low. I'm ordering mine so I want to see the reasons why others would want it, thanks.

Apple Care+ is not for 1 additional year only. It's is for either 2 additional years (purchasing the 3 years plan) or yearly subscription (yearly plan) until cancelled. For $49 a year, less than $5 a month was a no brainer for me getting it.

Got lucky yesterday and got the single tilt/height standard ASD at Apple Century City.

Thanks to the team running the stock Discord, I was able to pick it up within 30 minutes. Turns out someone had returned it, new in box.

This is the one I had been waiting for.

I had repeatedly questioned whether it was right to wait for a height adjustable display, and the resounding answer is 'yes'. I'm 6'3 and have never had a display that met me at eye level.

I'm thrilled with the clarity of the standard glass, and the adjustable height makes a ton of difference for me.

There's also something to be said for how handsome this display is. It's an object that you look at every day and frankly, I'm OK paying a premium for the great looking base versus something ugly and plastic. Single cable to power my MacBook Air M1. Massive workspace. Massive retina screen. Crisp text. I love it!

Yes, it sucks that we don't have other options on the market, but for what's available, I'll take it.

My advice is: if you're waiting for the tilt/height, it's worth it.

10/10 would recommend.

How are owners of a BenQ screener connecting theirs to the studio display? Mine came with a USB cable which I plugged into my old monitor but I can't plug into the ASD.

If you want to use the included cable, just get one of these:

Replacing the cable could potentially be more elegant:

I've had the display for about a month now. When I first got it I could hardly hear the fans. Since updating to 15.5, the fans get extremely noisy at random times. Even when the display is sleeping it starts to act up. Never had this issue before 15.5

its connected to a studio btw.

I'm out of my return period so this is extremely fustrating
