is the uniformity of your displays good? I posted above the photos of my Studio Display, how does it look to you? do i have to return it?

Both of my ASDs show perfect uniformity. That's the first thing I check when I get a new display (TV or monitor).

Thanks for your feedback! i just don't know what to think ... i don't understand if what i see is normal or if my panel is unlucky. can you take a picture for comparison?

Does anyone have this issue where the display just lights up and doesn't go back to sleep or something?I have it connected to my 2021 MacBook Pro 14", I can't tell is it because when I get notifications or not, but this happens quite often. I normally have to wake the laptop then it would shut off properly (sleep)

Yeah I had this happen every so often when it would pick up "Hey Siri" while sleeping. I eventually turned off the setting to allow Siri when locked to prevent this.

My M1 MacBook does this constantly. I’ve not found a fix besides shutting the lid, which doesn’t exactly work here.

Your cursor is on the screen in that photo, so it’s not the display (since it doesn‘t have a cursor built in that we know of). My Mac Studio doesn’t exhibit that behavior, so I’m assuming it’s a MacBook issue.

Just got mine delivered. Gorgeous display, really smart and the sound is excellent, very impressive.

Glad I stuck with this and didn't go for another lower res monitor.

On another note, it's always such a shame to throw away Apple packaging because the way this display is packaged is really impressive!

I've run some tests with black background and white backgrounds. It's a pretty good display, very uniform with minimal backlight bleed. Not seeing any deviations in the screen.

Now you can see clearly the downside to LCD/IPS displays with the blacks. You can see how far off the blacks are from true deep blacks with all surrounding lights off. But that's the only downside I can see.

Looks good, I keep the packaging for when I sell it

So some more thoughts with mine. Loving it even more. I have a windows laptop as well and for my current setup I have my macbook pro plugged in in front of me, the display on a stand so its "above" my macbook display, then my keyboard and trackpad on my desk in front of the mac. I actually like this as one of the issues I have with the apple keyboard is that it doesn't sit "up" enough for me, I am able to rest it on my laptop and have it sit perfect.

So I was curious as I do my browsing and day to day on my PC but my work and photo business on my mac. Just a simple closing the macbook, unplugging the thunderbolt cable and plugging into my PC and I am very pleased with the result. I natively get 5k resolution (@200% scaling) and the sound is much better than my PC speakers. I don't seem to have brightness control, but it does not bother me.

This is a great setup for me as I don't use both machines at the same time....or rather not very often at all. Yes I have to physically unplug one and plug it into the other but not a deal breaker for me.

For your interest, the old Twelve South backpack "stand/support" works also with the new Studio Display that (finally) arrived yesterday for me. Not the best because the support tends to slide down if you touch/move it but fortunately it gets stopped by the rear cable

I think the new one fits better but it's not as nice as this old 😕 (honestly it's ugly, plastic and you have to close the rear hole with a stupid plastic cap)

And I've warned my missus NOT to clean or even touch the screen.....I still get the shivers when she told me she once cleaned my iMac screen with Windowlene (Windex) on one occasion and anti-bacterial wipes on another occassion....

I've asked her, politely of course, do NOT even touch the screen. I'll take care of it.

Yeah Ive had this on quite a few occasions. Sometimes with odd graphical glitches when I wake it up. Even though it seems like the Mac Studio itself doesn't really go to sleep, the display goes off (or sometimes looks like the above) and the Mac Studio fans just keep blowing away at the same pace as when the Mac is fully on. Weird.

I don’t know sbout other countries, but in Canada if youre Not ordering the custom ones you can pretty much get it through the stores same day pick up if you check the stock everyday.

I would suggest checking stock at both Apple store and Best Buy. I was able to pick one up at each store a few weeks back- unless you want the height adjustable one, that one is hard to find

I just checked, I already have that off, don't know what else is triggering it to turn on like that. Has your issue return after you turned off Siri?

:( hmm let me know if you ever find anything to fix this

Yea I also suspect this is the issue with the MacBook, but the thing is I also have another LG monitor connected to it and that one doesn't turn on like this. Maybe its a combination of the MacBook and the studio display. Hopefully the future software update fixes it. Otherwise I might consider returning this one and wait for a couple months >.>

Hi everyone!

I just bought the SD and I wanted to know if some people got the same issue as I : everything is a bit too tiny (font, icons, etc.) with the default resolution (2560*1440). When I put the resolution into 2048*1152, it is better but, unfortunately, the image quality is not as great as it is with the other resolution (which make perfect sense, right ?).

So, I was wondering if, even if it seems not possible, there were a solution to overcome this "problem" ?
I was also wondering, for those who got it, if the iMac M1, who is suppose to have the same amount of ppp, have the same problem or not ?

Bought the SD yesterday and kinda get used to it when I woke up this morning but it still bother me a little (maybe it won't at all tomorrow, let's hope, who knows ?).
I precise that the screen go with a M1 mini.

I hope that I was clear enough and I thank you in advance for your answers.
I'm asking myself the very same thing.
