Thanks Dan. I also need zero clearance on the part below the desk as it is over a drawer. Let me take a look at those - thanks for the info. I will let you know if I can’t find what I am looking for - really appreciate your help!
Here's the Ergoton LX dimensions - it's on the second page:

Presumably there's some clearance to allow for the mount you already have there.

Finally got my ASD. where can I find great wallpapers for this sexy beast?

I need one that is capable to have two arms for a laptop tray, the basics one will not work.

There is a dual arm Amazon Basics too (again rebranded Ergotron LX dual monitor arm). Then you can also get a VESA laptop tray to attach to the second arm.

I have a dual Apple Studio Display set up but audio only comes out of one display. What is the best way to get audio to pump out of both displays

Go to Audio MIDI Setup and create a Multi Audio Device then add both ASDs. Then select the Multi Audio Device and you will get audio out of both ASDs.

got my nano display ASD.
Unfortunately I am returning as the nano makes the resolution feel worse than my current HP Z 4K displays.

I like the design though and the speakers are great. I was also happy with the standard non adjustable stand.

I may order the standard screen, but really I am sceptical on the value of these displays. It has to knock it out the park for me to keep at these prices and it hasnt.

I think the Studio Display is worth it, although pricy. The sharpness of the text and colors is a big jump up from my 2K LG Colorprime display that had 99% Adobe RGB. I prefer the 2K scaling since it gives the most space. 4K simply won't cut it as 2K won't look that good since macOS scales up to 5K and then downscales it to 4K, which causes a bunch of issues as described here:

I never considered the nano texture version due to it being hard to clean and I don't have my monitor where sunlight hits, thus I don't really need anti-glare.

Also, 1080p 2x scaling on 4K is just way too big, and I hate 1080p resolution due to loss of vertical resolution, which mean more vertical scrolling. That is why I will never consider a 4K monitor, especially at 27" or bigger since it's a poor experience on macOS, at least for me. Apple may release a pro version of the 27" 5K display with HDR, mini LED, and maybe Pro Motion, but it will be more expensive than the Studio Display.

The cost isn't really that much of a concern for me, but like to get value.

Yep, it was a mistake getting the nano. Having looked at them closely in the store I thought I had made the right decision, and did spend some time looking at them. But as usual, Apple never have the apps I use installed so it is hard to judge.

Funny you talk about the poor 4k experience on a Mac, as I was using the ASD this morning as a final test, then immediately plugged in my 4k 27" and actually preferred it [sharper]. I think the nano is skewing this though and may order the standard screen.

If you want to use the included cable, just get one of these:

Replacing the cable could potentially be more elegant:

How would you even open up the case? I looked at my BenQ and there were no visible screws to open

I just came across some rumour that might be related to this Pro version.

So indeed comes with HDR, mini-LED /w 2000+ zones (!!) (note that current Pro Display XDR only 500-ish mini LED zones). Sadly still no ProMotion yet. And I was made aware recently ASD is not a truly 10 bit panel. So perhaps this pro version will be.

Anyone hooked up their M1 Mac Mini to the ASD? How well does it perform?

Aside from the resolution; it is pretty average.
I think that's a bit unfair. There a number of aspects of the monitor that are far from average. You also have to consider that this is pretty much the only 5K option on the market and for people like me who need the sharpest text (I look at text all day) it's the number one priority.

As described in this article 2K scaling on 4K monitors causes a bunch of issues since macOS only does integer level scaling, unlike Windows. While all apps support high DPI this way without the developers having to add high-DPI support, which makes high DPI support terrible in Windows, it requires Apple to use monitors at 5K resolution to get 2x 1440p.

The 24 inch iMac uses a 4.5K display.Anything in-between, especially using 2K scaling causes shimmering (while scrolling0, moire patters, worse GPU performance and text being blurrier compared to a 5K monitor at 2K scaling. On 4K with the 2K scaling, it renders the 2K scaling in 5K and than downscales it, which of course brings these issues. This is probably why Apple does not use 4K on anything besides 24 inch monitors. The LG 24 4K Ultrafine is almost the double of a typical 24-inch non-retina display around 95 DPI, which is why I think 4K is only good for monitors at or below 24 inch for high DPI on macOS.

This is why I went with the Studio Display as it can do pixel perfect scaling, which is important when one is developing an app. I only run my displays at the native resolution or 2X scaling, except for the laptop screen, which I don't really do any UI development work. Doing it with a scaled resolution makes tasks require 1;1 pixels difficult, unless you don't mind 1080p 2x scaling on 4K, which is too big for me at 27" and I will most likely hate it.

Mind you, the Studio Display is not cheap and it lacks some features, but it's still a solid monitor that can last for about 10 years or more. Just kind of wish there are more options for 5K for Mac users as LG and Apple is the only options and the LG UltraFine 5K from what I heard had a number of hardware and quality issues. People seem to love bashing this monitor without realizing that there is a place for it, especially given how poorly macOS handles 4K scaling on 27+ displays given the issues already presented. This is why I stayed with non-retina displays for a long time to avoid these scaling issues with 4K, until the Studio Display came out.
