I have a 4k 27'' philips monitor and I use it for my UX/UI work and it has a perfect image quality... as long as I use the best setting:

Maybe "perfect" image quality for you. But a 4K 27" screen is not proper 2x Retina resolution and does not directly scale the UI elements of macOS. That's a fact, not a matter of opinion. I guess it doesn't matter to you, which is fine, but it matters a lot to many people.

As I expected; Apple should have made a 27" version of the Pro Display XDR + Pro Motion and called it day–especially to more sensibly associate it with the Mac Studio.

That would've avoided the weird stand/VESA mount SKU issues with this monitor.

I was excited when I first saw it, but gonna pass. For that money I want height adjustment, not being locked into a stand choice, and more cutting edge tech. I'll endure a cheaper plastic form factor before rewarding Apple for all these negatives.

I have no reason to believe that the 27" Studio display (which is replacing an older 30" Apple Display) added to my LCD 27" display with my newly shipped Mac Studio Ultra (due 3/21) will not provide the same excellent performance and reliability of all my Previous Apple products. Your mileage my vary.
Well, except for all the reviewers saying the display is a mess, but sure, otherwise, no reason.

Not a single review said the display is a mess lol. The only negative pointed out is that the camera is bad. Everything else is just acknowledging that the specs Apple advertises for the display are accurate.

Guess you're just gonna ignore the other 4 differences I pointed out?
Yes, since you ignored all the features I pointed out that you said couldn't be found in other monitors, when in fact they're easily available in the MateView.

How can Apple roll out a product like this with a half-baked webcam? If it is software issue it should have been ready at launch. I will not be buying one until that is fixed or if user reviews are not as harsh. But reviewers who usually are very positive on Apple products, can not be wrong on this, as seems unanimous. Expect a lot more from Apple quality control, especially for the price of this.

Really interesting play here for Apple. Truly doesn't line up with their product line. Brand new hardware launch, and it is years behind the rest of the product line. No Pro-Motion, no HDR, seems like Apple really did get greedy with this one. You really should be able to expect top of the line for this price range on a monitor. Interesting play by Apple...

Kind of rubs me the wrong way honestly.

Are there better displays out there with better specs and features at this price?

Please list a few as you seem very knowledgeable on this.

personally, Id rather 5k than hdr or 120Hz, but mostly because I don't want to pay for them, an expensive, compromised display with an iphone in it is a weird market segment. the nice thing is these will be easier to find on ebay in a year or two than the LG 5k ever was. Also, more displays should have a bunch of usb-c ports. we really need to push against this idea that usb-c ports are the expensive port you have 1 of.

Exactly what separates this display from a $400 display from another company? For what is being offered, they really overpriced this one. I would rather spend $500 on a 34" 21:9 curved monitor.
Wow. It's been a long time since I looked at display prices. I had no idea they were that inexpensive. I'm looking at a 34" Ultrawise 21:9 on Amazon right now for $350. I mean, wow.

Oh I'm sorry, they said miss. That's much better! "A confounding miss."

Camera bad, image quality not impressive, lack of true blacks, rubber pads failed to keep the display planted on a desk, etc.

I'd say there's more than a single negative.

I bought one, it's being delivered tomorrow, but I was always on the fence anyway, just didn't want to wait if it happened to be good, but for the price, this is not worth it.

I ignored all the features you pointed out that I directly responded to? Weird.

I said no other monitor has good speakers and a webcam. The MateView does not have a webcam. But you did seem to find one that is not plastic and ugly, though I think it's pretty clear that my "every" there was hyperbolic.

And another big differentiator with the Studio that I forgot to mention—you can bring it to an actual person to get it serviced instead of mailing it to god knows where and crossing your fingers. And in the case of Huawei, you can neither purchase it in the US nor get it serviced here.

I have one coming in tomorrow, fingers crossed my experience is good. But I'm still disappointed in the price and that seems to be echoed in all of these reviews.
Perhaps this will teach you a lesson: just because it has an Apple logo on it and is also expensive doesn't mean that it's actually the best product in the field.

It's an expensive lesson, for certain, but eventually you had to learn it.

I'd love to know what the reviewers were expecting? IF Apple had included Mini-LED and all the other goodies "they wish it had" it'd be a $2500 monitor and they'd be complaining about the price.

The LG ultrafine 5k (@$1300 thereabouts) is the most reasonable monitor comparison. Add the nicer chassis, Built in decent spec webcam (compare to a Brio), Decent speaker array and higher brightness and you arrive at the studio display pricing.

Sure it's expensive, but real surprises TBH.

I am so glad I fixed my 24 in. Cinema Display just last week ($100 for the LCD replacement), instead of waiting for the Studio Display ($1599). Alh.

Huh? What lesson? It can be returned.

Hopefully Apple learned a lesson from this. An expensive lesson, for certain, but eventually they had to learn it.

Exactly. Amazing how many people on this thread expect mini LED and ProMotion—cutting-edge display technologies—for a pittance.
I’ve heard folks here mention that they’re on a fixed income these days, which could weigh heavily on what’s considered “affordable” for them.

There's a great advantage to the captive power cord: whenever you want to move your Apple Studio Display to a new room, simply drag it by the cord to its new location. That's all this overpriced piece of junk deserve.
