Does this mean we are not going to see a new MacBook Pro this year? -- A little too late to be asking a major design question for a 2016 release.

I use my 3.5mm plug every day at work. That said, a lightening to 3.5mm adapter would make zero difference.

In my music studio I literally NEVER use the 3.5mm plug. My PRO headphones (Sennheiser HD650s) plug into my Metric Halo audio interface via 6.5mm plug.

The DA and amplifier in the MBP is not professional standard. It is discernibly inferior to the Metric Halo DA and amplifier.

So those arguing that Pro machines need a 3.5mm plug are wrong because:-
It's not professional quality.
6.5mm is the standard for the best studio headphones
The built in amp is not professional standard for driving top of the line headphones.

You have got to be kidding me... Apple has abandoned Macbook Pro's for quite some time and this just proves it. They're more interested in iPad's and iPhones to keep a float the brand.

I use the headphone jack on a daily basis on my Macbook and I'd hate to see Apple removing essential ports. I don't even mind compromises provided the Pros outweigh the Cons, but if they truly only have USB-C ports then frankly I'd be inclined to finally switch platforms.

There's less and less reason to stay with Apple now, at least for me. I don't think people should put up with it, vote with your wallets. Why would you want less ports on a Pro product? The future? USB-C is so new at the moment, very few to almost none have native support yet. What monitor could you buy? I can only think of one and it's pricey.

I don't want a computer that relies on adapters, half the tables going to be filled with adapters or wireless items. And I certainly don't want to have to buy new headphones, mouse, keyboard etc.. just to accommodate Apple's silly decisions.

Honestly I think It's getting kinda crazy, Apple is moving in a direction that I'm totally against. It's like Microsoft is coming to it's senses and Apple is the one with issues now
:p.

I wouldn't mind an all USB-C MacBook Pro, actually I dream of that. I do, however, agree with the last line. Apple's lack of interest in updating their computer hardware, or offering anything "innovative" in that sector, such as AR/VR, is entirely disspointing. They're all about mobile, and tbh their OS is very basic, and hasn't even evolved to have a file system, or multiple users, and Siri is just dissapointing. On the other hand, Windows is gaining traction, their Anniversary update really fixes everything, however one gripe I've always had with MS is their design, but I finally see that changing in their hardware, and hopefully soon software, especially after they hired Andrew Kim. MS really has impressed me with W10, HoloLens, the Surface line. MS just needs to get rid of their mobile lineup and focus on their PC laptop, and should really tighten their quality control policies.

I hope to see Apple develop iOS to a higher degree, and focus solely on mobile, as that is what they love to do. I don't see MacOS surviving in the near future, based on their current trajectory. The moment they bring XCode onto iOS, is the moment MacOS is gone.

And I hope to see MS drop mobile, and purely focus on creating computing products.

I'm guessing it's for whatever comes after this one.

probably not immediately after though..
if the 2016 mbp is a redesign, we'll probably see it for the next few years (as in- i can't personally remember apple releasing a redesigned computer then redesigning it again at the next update).

i'm assuming if any design decisions are based off this survey, we likely won't see it until 2020 mbp.

The future MacBooks will be a fusion of the current MacBook 12" and MacBook Pro Retina.
There will be no other connecting ports but USB-C. Not good for those who want options.

Get rid of the 3.5 jack across the board. Rip the bandaid off and move forward.
Playing it safe is how they ended up with the backwards iPhone 6 Series.
Keep it moving forward and never again have to play catch-up in the hardware department.

YES! Take the headphone jack away on everything. Push for wireless. Move forward.

I really hope the next iPads and MacBook Pros don't have one. I'm ready to move on. There's plenty of older models to tide people over for a few years while the industry transitions and new tech/products are developed. The 6s series is great! The iPad Pros are great! Even the current Macbook Pros are still good.

Make them lighter! Give us more USB-Cs. And a Lightning port on the MBP would be nice, especially if they wanna push people to get Lightning headphones.

Interestingly, I don't hear anyone complaining about the glossy rMBP screen or the GPUs.
I suggested a return to the matte screen option in the "give us one suggestion" box.

I want the 3.5mm audio jack to stay and I use the SD slot all the time. I do own a CF and SD USB card reader so that wouldn't be a total loss. My kids use the 3.5mm for headphones all the time in college. I use an Amp/DAC out of the USB3 port for better audio so I guess I don't need the 3.5mm personally. I'm stuck with a hodgepodge of peripherals though - USB2&3, FW 400, FW 800, Ethernet, Thunderbolt, CD/DVD and a bunch of adapter cables and dongles.

It would be nice to have one standard powered interface for connecting peripherals someday.

What are you going to replace your MacBook Pro, iPhone, and iPad with when they remove the audio port?

Its one thing to say you will do something and another thing entirely to actually do it.

A Razer Blade most likely. And I would have an Galaxy Note 7 in hand right now if I didn't think it would blow it off.

I'll embrace a wireless future when we have wireless headphones with unnoticeable lag, lossless signal and 100 hour battery life. I don't think any of these things are even close to being on the roadmap for the next 3 years... so what is the point in removing the port? We don't have options that are better than what we have now, so the audio jack should stay. 5 hours listening time on AirPods is crap.

How about a wireless future where I don't have to run around recharging everything I own?

If the headphone jack is removed from even 1 Mac product... I'm done with them. I'm going to use my MBA until it's dead, and then move on.

How can they even sell a product like Logic Pro and then at the same time contemplate removing the audio port?

The balls of Steve, the vision of a blind cyclops.

My next computer will be a PC for games, this could have been a Mac Pro with proper parts where I end up saving money by getting my beefy PC along with a good Mac in ONE machine.

Next Mac, if I actually decide to buy one over getting a hackingtosh, will be a budget machine.

Piss a little more on me, please.

Glassed Silver:ios

It seems to me the only way they could possibly delete the jack with a straight face is if they replace it with Lightning.

I think they should be asking "Would you want a combo audio/Spdif input jack?" And maybe an few extra USB ports? .But no :(

Emperor - clothes ......(which is actually figurative, but here literal)

Maybe it's some fixation with 'holes'
